They are the same.

Of course they aren't. The thing they have in common is producing totalitarian regimes, but they're on the opposite ends of the political spectrum.

bigos

Blasphemy! lol We don't use czosnek in bigos o_O What part of Poland are you from, if you don't mind saying? 🤔

Good luck but don't worry.

As we say in Poland: "Nie martw się na zapas." It's easy to say though.

mochi

The one in the photo is with white peach filling, btw.

Tamarind

Yes, it's tamarind!!! :D 🥳🎉

Those snacks are called tamarind rolls. Although the ones I got contain only 4% of tamarind, so I feel a bit cheated :P The rest of ingredients are peanuts, pineapple, rice paper, ginger and chili.

Thank you everyone for participating and great contributions :)

Actually, it's the main ingredient - it's what this drink is made of.

North Africa, usually in the evening in Ramadan

This ingredient is used in dishes in the Middle East and in one of the drinks popular during Ramadan.

Teriyaki?

Yes!!! :)))🎉🎊🎇

A flavour that should never walk the earth.

lol
I don't mind garlic as long as there's not too much of it :) I don't like the smell though.

Many of these educated women, who may have studied beyond their intelligence

What a stupid, misogynistic, unfair comment.

shame

Że też kobieta cię urodziła... Wstydź się.

the PO (Civic Platform) is supported by criminals-which is a fact.

And PiS is supported by uneducated country bumpkins, which is a fact also :D

Not all PO supporters are criminals but 90% of criminals are PO supporters.

80%. And that doesn't make KO "the party of the mafia and criminal underworld."
Get it?

I said that it is what they deserve.

Then you're not right in the head.

That low-life loser is simply not capable enough to implement it.

Then one could say exactly the same thing about PiS and Konfederacja lol 🤦

I said, no. How many times do I need to say no for you to get it?

Strange, because based on some of your comments I had an impression that you're pro-authoritarian rule. Aren't you? 🤔

However, in Poland, a higher percentage of women hold formal higher education diplomas

LOL
What's next, are you going to "blame" the voting partterns on cities being mainly inhabited by women? :D Haha 😂🤦

Yes.

Kindly elaborate on that then, because according to all common sense and knowledge fascism is the opposite of left-wing ideology:

"Scholars place fascism on the far right of the political spectrum.[6][5][7] Such scholarship focuses on its social conservatism and its authoritarian means of opposing egalitarianism." (Source: Wikipedia)

people have been killing their enemies since the dawn of time; it is not exclusive to any particular ideology.

In the twentieth century the systemic murder of political opponents was exclusive to communist and fascist regimes.

Also, I never said I would kill them;

I didn't mean that you would do it personally (although who knows), but that you would support this being done to them.

It does look like a type of yokan.

Nope, it isn't any type of yokan.

Ah, so this is what it's called! :D Some years ago my mother's Japanese coworker brought yokan from Japan as a gift for us and I knew what it was made of, but I didn't know it's name. It was awful, btw ;D

yubeshi

It's not yubeshi either, but this riddle is broadening my culinary horizons :)

To be honest, I don't even know if this particular snack is being eaten in Japan. I just know that it's Asian.

As for nuts - yes, the ones I have contain peanuts.

Shrimp

As I wrote earlier the prawn crackers in the photo are additionally flavoured - that flavour is what I'm asking about.

Maybe I should narrow it down more - the name of this flavour is a Japanese cooking technique :)

Fascism is a right-wing ideology of the left

What... lol 😂🤦

you have communism, socialism, and fascism.

Both communist and fascist regimes were murdering their political opponents. That's exactly what you want to do. So which are you - a communist or a fascist? Judging by your views you're definitely much closer to a fascist.

that description is describing Tusk

Of course it isn't.

doesn't reflect me and my values..

Aren't those your "values" though?:

'far-right, authoritarian, and ultranationalist political ideology and movement. It is characterized by a dictatorial leader, centralized autocracy, militarism, forcible suppression of opposition"'

What's far more relevant

Not really lol The voters in prisons are just a few thousand people, while millions of Poles voted in those elections.

PO: truly the party of the mafia and criminal underworld.

Don't be a moron. As I wrote - inmates are just a small fraction of voters.

Trzaskowski won in cities and among people with higher education. Nawrocki won among people with lower education and in the countryside. From what I remember he got over 70% of votes among people with the lowest education (wykształcenie podstawowe). So, you could say that PiS is a party of uneducated and easily manipulated country bumpkins.

Travel / Poland in photo riddles - part 3 [818]

I'll answer collectively - it's not turmeric, gochujang, curry or chili flavour.

Some type of spicy flavour?

Hmm, I wouldn't say so. 🤔

Wasabi

Nope, but this "flavour" comes from exactly the same country as wasabi does!

Are they flavoured with ginger or shoyu?

Soy sauce is one of the ingredients of this flavour (ginger could be an ingredient too, but optional apparently).

Prawn crackers are something that when they're warm, I could eat a thousand in one go..

I don't think they need to be warm to be addictive ;) I do like them, but those flavoured ones are even better :d 🍤

As for that pie - I didn't know, but I wouldn't mind trying it.

The small cake is mochi

Yes!!! :D

I find the texture of mochi interesting - it's very soft and velvety, but rubbery at the same time. I haven't eaten anything like that before :)

So, Alien and cms_neuf have guessed most of the riddle. Congrats! :))) 👏

To sum up - what's left to guess is the flavour of the prawn crackers (a Japanese flavour) and the sweet snack that cms_neuf is writing about here:

Other one looks like an Arab or Liban sweet

You're on track here :) In English this snack is named after one of its ingredients (one of two words) - a plant that originated in Africa, but also spread to Asia and the name of this plant comes from Arabic language. If I understand correctly this particular snack is Asian though. 🤔

You probably had more of a laugh to think that I thought you'd made yourself an Iron Man costume lol.

Nah, I actually thought it's sweet that you believed I'm that skilled in craftsmanship ;D :D

Well, I thought it was made from metal in the riddle clips so you achieved the look you were after :)

That's comforting ;)

Maybe buy some of those special paints and give it another go :)

I don't know, maybe one day... For now I'd rather focus on 2D art :)

Although I did buy some time ago air dry clay and now I ordered tools for sculpting in clay - at some point I'm planning to learn to make stuff from this type of clay. 🤔 So I'll be painting 3D objects after all lol

That's really cool! I didn't know you could even get lamps like that.

Me neither! I mean, I did see some resin art and how it's done more or less, but this is next level :O

I think the English equivalent would be 'tat'.

Thanks!

there's something about metallic that can lift an item to be something special.

Those "metallic" scratches did make it look less like a cheap, plastic toy, so I consider it a success already ;D

Over here they're called prawn crackers.

I think that's actually the correct term in English, judging by my Google search. 🤔

I know you can get shiitake mushroom ones. Or maybe sweet chilli?

Nope. It's an Asian flavour though :)

From the photo riddles thread:

The term is new to me.

Diorama depicts a scene in 3D, for example battles from some war, a character from a movie with some surroundings (usually fantasy, sci-fi and comic books films) or from computer games. A diorama lamp is simply a diorama with a lamp/light built in (often in some clever way):

There are also resin diorama lamps - this one is
amazing - it's like a moment frozen in time :O:

@Feniks, yes, it's that lamp! I payed for it twice as much in a Polish shop though ;/ Damn it... *sigh*

In case anyone's curious about the result of my repainting - I posted the photos in the hobby thread :)

Next riddle - what are those? This isn't anything Polish, but you can buy it in Poland (sorry, I'm running out of ideas for riddles lol):

Off-Topic / What's your hobby? [191]

I did something like this for the first time in my life, so don't laugh ;D

As I wrote in the photo riddle thread I bought that Iron Man lamp as a gift, but it came damaged. The damage wasn't big, but it was on the chest, so it was "right in your face" visible. There were also silver elements missing from the movie suit and some light details. Also the black wash was very sloppy and in general the painting wasn't great - some parts weren't even painted gold where they should be. In all honesty, I was disappointed with the quality of the Iron Man figure. It looked a bit like "zabawka z odpustu" (Poles will know what I mean). I payed over 200 PLN for this lamp and I expected something better for such money... So I decided to turn the Iron Man figure into a battle damage version in order to cover up the damage and the sloppy painting. I also added the silver elements and the lights from the suit that was used in Infinity War movies (since it was supposed to be an Infinity War suit).

I gotta tell you... Painting on "raw" plastic was EXTREMELY frustrating and more difficult than I expected lol ;O The surface was so slick that the paint wouldn't hold... Those silver elements were the worst. I had to cover them with many thin layers of paint. Also, that figure isn't big, so I was using my smallest brush and even that brush wasn't small enough ;D ;/ If that wasn't enough I had to maneuver the whole thing - I couldn't detach the figure from the lamp and soon my neck and back started hurting, because you had to be very precise with every brush stroke.

At first I planned to make Iron Man more dirty and burnt, to make the suit look more "batlle-worn", but the paint adhesion was so bad that I resigned from this idea. Luckily it turned out that under that red and gold paint there was a layer of silver paint. It doesn't show in the photos, but thanks to this those scratches I made with precision knife are silvery and it gives the whole figure a more of a "real metal" look. So that was my way of making the suit look more "battle-worn".

In the end this whole ordeal was worth it, because the person I bought it for was happy with this "custom painted" gift, but... never again... ;D If I ever decide to paint some action figure or miniature, then I'll prepare myself properly for this. People who paint miniatures usually use a primer first which makes the paint stick to the plastic. They also use special paints. I used ordinary acrylic paints. Those special paints apparently have smaller pigment particles - thanks to that they don't make all the small details on those figures "disappear" under layers of paint. I learned a thing or two about miniature painting from this experience lol ;) And I defenitely got new appreciation for miniature painters :)))))

It didn't cross my mind to take photos before I started painting, so I used photos from that internet shop link that Feniks posted in the riddle thread for "before/after" comparison:

Sometimes it's worth a wild guess :)

It was more than a wild guess - you have great memory :)

It's not one of those birthday cake toppers is it?

Nope and there's definitely nothing edible about any of it :)

I meant boot.

Yes, it's Iron Man's boot and it's no coincidence that it's the boot which is attached to that white thing and not a hand or something else.

then maybe part of a candle

It's not a candle, but that white part has something in common with a candle, actually :) And in the photo it's just a small fragment of that white element visible.

It is supposed to imitate metal though :)

Of course by that I didn't mean this material was created to imitate metal, but it does have a slick surface and was painted on with shiny/metallic paints in order to imitate the metallic look.

it's something you've obviously made.

Oh, no, no, I'm not such an advanced craftsperson :))) I bought it as a gift for someone, but it came damaged a bit, so I decided to make a battle damaged version of it lol

the Iron Man suit/armour.

Wow, Feniks, you're honestly brilliant! :D Yes, the photos show close ups of the Iron Man suit :) It's not just the suit though - as I wrote to Alien: "you could say that the part I photographed could be used as a toy if it wasn't attached to something else." Although toys like this usually have movable parts and this one doesn't.

So, what could it be attached to? The whole thing is a decoration, but with an additional practical function.

Another fragment:

Like I said, training a dog how to use a muzzle of some kind

No, you didn't say that in your first comment and you didn't answer the riddle question in your second comment. I asked you: "So what's going on?" and you didn't answer that. Feniks did.

That was the original riddle question: "What is going on?"

Also, you can't train a dog to "use" a gas mask or a muzzle. You can only train them to wear it.

Wait Paulina, I had already guessed that so why are you robbing me from being first to guess the riddle

Your first comment wasn't serious, so I didn't treat it seriously (and it was incorrect anyway).
Don't be a baby and next time just answer the riddle in a normal way - then noone else will beat you to it.

and giving the honors to your buddy ?

No, I usually treat this thread as a "demilitarized zone" - I'm not biased against anyone here. Just behave, answer the riddles in a normal and preferably precise way and you'll be OK.

And, please, don't trash this thread with your neverending grudges against me.

We're in the middle of another riddle, so you have another opportunity to guess.

I think it's made of metal

Nope. It is supposed to imitate metal though :)

that's been heavily scratched.

Yes, it was. By me :) All the scratching and damage that you can see in the photo was done by me - on purpose. And then I've painted on some of the damage that I've done:

Btw, today there was a Mermaid Parade in Warsaw and apparently some right-wing/nationalist morons had a problem even with that. I guess they got triggered by the word "parade" lol 😂🤦 For those who don't know - a mermaid is a symbol of Warsaw represented on the city's coat of arms. 🙄

But you played it too soon, Paulina. Save if for when Poland really needs a miracle.

I'm not sure what you're talking about. I gave it as an example of that "Polish superpower" at work.

It is in this case because nobody gives a flying F.

Well, you and Ptak clearly don't give a flying F about telling the truth, that I know already.

Your meltdowns are of a little girl stomping her feet, screaming and crying

I'm not stomping my feet, screaming or crying. I called you out on your bullsh1t for which Ptak attacked me and he keeps attacking me (I guess he has nothing better to do in life). And now you joined in.

He is just "busting your chops", Paulina.

How do you know that? I asked him about that and he hasn't answered my question so far.
