I am looking for information on my great grandfather Josef Samiec who lived in the Village of Wola Zelichowska about 45 km from Krakow. Any help appreciated.

SAMIEC: male of the species, virile male (perhaps macho of yesteryear?!) or toponymic nick from Samary, Samice, Samocice, etc.

Wow, about 500 individuals bear this name in Poland. I never met even one.
There isn`t Saminca surname at all. Strange.
