Hello,

I am a Mikolajczyk who was hoping to know a little more about his surname.

City of origin, roots of the name, notable Mikolajczyks, coat of arms, and even stories about any Mikolajczyks you may have met would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your help. The Mikolajczyk name has been a pleasure to have, but I have finally reached a time in my life where I need to know more about it.

Hi,
It is hard to say without more details. there are about 25 thousand people of this name. Most of them, however, are located in central Poland, that's all I know.

cheers

I think my father was born in Kalisz but family lived in Zielona Gora..his name was Isidor Mikolaczyk/Mikolajczyk/Mikolayczyk (changed to Waclaw Anders after the war and moved to Australia)..he had a sister Anna (who I guess was born around 1940)..another sister (Maria?) and a brother (Stanislav?)..I remember his sister had a daughter called Barbara (born late 50's early 60's)...his mother was Josepha (Josephina)..and father Franek... Sorry for the sketchy details...are we related?..Dad is around 85 yrs old now and never really talked much about his family....Julie.. juliejomay at Hotmail dot com

MIKO£AJCZYK. Patronymic nick, English equivalent Nichloson. Quite poplar in Poland with some 22,000 users. The largest concentration is in Mazowsze but there is also a fair-sized pocket in the Kalisz area. No Mikołajczyk was ever known to have been admitted into a gentry clan, hence no coat of arms accompanies the surname.
