Getting logged out of PF

Paulina  19 | 4458

When I came today to PF it turned out that I'm logged out even though I didn't log out o_O' It's weird, because I don't think it ever happened to me on this forum...

Why did this happen?

Has anyone else experienced this?

Ah, OK... Thanks Lenka :) I was worried that maybe my account got hacked or something o_O

Nope....still in!

So it happened only to me today (or yesterday, I don't know)?

A login cookie automatically expires after a few months (meaning you would get "logged out") and then it requires to login again.

Also possible when the Windows system performs an automatic upgrade at night - then the computer is shut down.

Or the computer is shut down by a little power cut, quite frequent an occurence in the countryside.

I sometimes have the opposite problem. I log out but then find I'm still logged in when I come back to the site later. When it first happened I thought I'd just forgotten to log out, but I hadn't. Bizarre.

Bizarre.

It's nothing every day I log in, there are big letters across the screen that say -welcome master, what can I do for you today?

Bizarre.

Nothing bizarre in it. Your PC/laptop loves the PF and desires to remain here are long as possible. -

@pawian, most of the time I'm using my phone when reading and writing on PF.

Thanks for the explanation, I don't think I've logged out in a very long time though (as far as I can remember)... I guess we'll see in a few months. 🤔

I log out but then find I'm still logged in when I come back to the site later.

Huh... o_O

When I clear my history or use my CC Cleaner it always clears all my passwords and log in names.
I have to log in again every time I use one of them to each one of my sites.

Why do you clear your browser history?

Hmm, I didn't do that though...

@Barney

CCleaner just does it superficially. All his downloaded images are retrievable by law enforcement agencies.

It can be handy if your computer is an old one and has a very small memory and you've been online a lot but that's about it.

it always clears all my passwords and log in names.

That's because it clears all cookies and anything in the cache. If I post here on a work computer, I clear the history on Firefox just for privacy. If you've not got a problem with memory size, you may as well just do it that way, and some people say that CCleaner can cause damage.

Why do you clear your browser history?

It deletes all the cookies that track your web surfing so you don't get a sh it load of ads.
jon does it to delete the naughty sites that he visits.
I've used CC Cleaner for years and really like it and the best part, it is free.

And it potentially damages your computer.

Easier and quicker just to clear cookies.

'Potentially" ?
Sources please.
I have used CC Cleaner for over ten years with any problems.
I do know between my VPN and CC Cleaner have blocked and deleted over 950 tracking attempts by the Polish Forums in the last week.
Next question is how much do these cookie servers pay the P.F. for my information to track my internet surfing ?

PF has no tracking cookies, beacons, or whatever else that other sites may have. Whenever you visit a page that has an embedded Youtube video on it, the video may have tracking cookies. But not PF.

Sources?

The internet is your oyster.

I've used it for longer on and off, but don't bother now since I've bought a laptop with mich bigger memory.

deleted over 950 tracking attempts by the Polish Forums

Safari blocks trackers.

I just had a look. 109 blocked in the past month on my tablet (which I use most). Mostly from Google or related organisations. None shown from PF

Disturbingly, a couple from r*SSian websites, including one I've not used.

the best part, it is free.

Basic rule of thumb...never ever use free "software".

Occasionally clearing the cache is required but removing browsing data does nothing to stop targeted adds. The big advertising platforms like facebook etc (and others) gather info as soon as you visit a site sending data until you leave the site.

Yes, your sources to confirm your personal opinion.

Of course not. You may read the sentence above with full understanding.

What part of Admin's comment didn't you understand?

There's another little known but positive use. Booking flights and sometimes hotels. Sites like Momondo.co.uk (my favourite), Opodo, etc, know if you've been looking at hotels in a given place and on airline websites. They know that the more you look, the more interested you are and that can affect the prices they quote. Flushing out the cookies can stop them doing that.

CC Cleaner is a horrible program.

1. You had never heard of CC Cleaner before I posted it here yesterday.
2. You failed to substantiate your insults to why you think it is a horrible program.
Now if you want to speed up your clogged up computer watch this and listen and learn from it donkey boy.

On modern computers with solid state drives you don't need it anyway.
