Food / Help me like Polish food (recommendations) [48]

Simple. Europeans are perhaps the first peoples to settle the lands that now comprise 'America'.

What happened? Did the Spaniards kill them all when they discovered their civilizations and forget to mention them?

AFAIK, szarlotka AKA tatanka is apple juice with żubrówka, which is a vodka flavoured with - wait for it - so-called "bison grass". So tatanka is a fun name for the drink.

I checked the internet and there's a website that acknowledges that it's a Lakota Indian word for "bull buffalo" and they use that name in Poland for the drink. I had no idea.

Love / Polish Girl Doesn't Want To Touch. [240]

Maybe the reason popcorn can't tell us what happened is because the whole thing was a violation of his probation from prison.

(just kidding popcorn)

His girlfriend probably read this...and stabbed him....

Yes, I was thinking the same thing. His dead body is probably strewn on the floor of the house that they shared together.

Whatever happened to popcorn? He pulled us into his story, talked on and on with us, and then he just dumped us like we mean nothing. That's so wrong. ;)

Love / THE POLISH DISEASE, wanna marry a Polish girl ? read on... [197]

ok ive just joined this site and ive seen lots of men talking about polish women and what they are like

trust me you WILL ruin your life with them,, the ones ive seen that last the men are always miserable

like i said i have a huge polish family here and over there
take this truth and go with it guys, id spare some of you the crap some of us are going thru

Well, if all of these things are true, then I think all men who are married to Polish women should leave their wives at once, and all unmarried men should refuse to marry Polish women, and they should all stop having children with them and allow the entire Polish race to cease to exist. They should marry women of other races who don't cause any problems. This will stop all of these innocent men from suffering ever again. ;)

yeah those long leggs look good
the blonde cute face,, yeah i know,, i know,,,

Wait. Is it only tall, blonde Polish women who are like this? Then I guess the short brunette ones are safe.

Love / Polish Girl Doesn't Want To Touch. [240]

Popcorn, I think she made her feelings very clear with her body language but you can't take a hint. You've chosen to force yourself on her, which is wrong. You could end up in jail eventually, because of her or someone else, if that's how you behave.

Even your title "Polish Girl Doesn't Want to Touch" is clear and then you go on and on about still trying to touch her. Isn't that some kind of crime even? It gives me the creeps.

Love / Polish Girl Doesn't Want To Touch. [240]

Popcorn, did you have a deal with her that she could move in with you on the condition that it would become romantic? If not, then I think you deceived her. You made her think that she could move in with you as a friend and then you started touching her, pushing yourself on her. And now you want to throw her out because she's not giving in. How is she taking advantage of you? I think it's the other way around. Ask her to start paying rent if you've changed your mind and feel entitled to money but stop groping her.

Love / Polish Girl Doesn't Want To Touch. [240]

But I feel like I'm the bendiest guy in the world now, a professional contortionist that could make money in the circus. I'm bending over backwards really far

wow. Can we see a picture of that? ;)

I have asked. She becomes expressionless, almost slightly irritable. Even if calm, and sweet in the asking, she avoids eye contact and says nothing. She will even walk away without saying goodbye. She has done it several times.

That means "no".

Did you tell her that you had romantic feelings for her before she moved in with you?

Life / Polish ghost stories [38]

I have a friend who was stationed over there in the military years ago, I forgot exactly where. They were asleep in the forest in the middle of the night and they were awakened by horses galloping toward them. They got up terrified and the sound vanished. In the morning, they checked and there were no marks in the dirt.

What deterioration? Our society is progressing nicely, thanks!

Well, except on the streets of L.A. hehe. I had a friend visit and could not believe what the daily news was like here.

Genealogy / Mixed-Blood Poles in America (Do we count?) [118]

Well, because your dad was from Englewood, his last name is anything but Sklodowski.

I believe him. He didn't exactly say his dad was Polish. It's probably the other way around.

No! This word is used to describe babies born in the US under the 14th amendfment.

The article says that children are considered anchor babies if their mother is an illegal immigrant. I guess that means if your dad is illegal when you're born but your mom isn't, then you're not an anchor baby? That's weird.

Off-Topic / Does anyone else find Cygans fascinating? [60]

Aren't Gypsies called Roma in Europe and their language Romani?

they also play guitars.. google Gypsy kings sometime.. super awesome.

I've had a Gipsy Kings CD for years. love it.

By the way, there was a hugely popular tv show "Gitanas" about Spanish gypsies. She was gypsy, he was white, their love was forbidden.

Life / Poland, maybe the world's last bastion of faith [67]

Moral behavior was the norm and challenges to that foundation were openly condemned. The consequences of that environment were only good. Divorce was unheard of, as were cases of abuse, addiction, abandonment, theft, violence, etc. It was a wonderful time during which it was rarely necessary to lock your doors, even if you were leaving for the day.

It must be nice to say that you grew up in a perfect world like that but I'm sure there were ALOT of people who lived around you who experienced abuse, addiction, etc. in secret. They didn't have to lock their doors because the devil was already inside. The church is sometimes a cover or illusion.

Love / Polish citizen in the UK: I made a mistake and now she won't forgive me, help! [57]

She's thinking i did it myself, pls help me
this is the girl i intend to marry after my final exams 2months from now
and she doesn't even want to talk to me. What should i do?

Is this for real? Why would she think you did it? Why would she not talk to you if she was really planning to marry you? There's something more going on here. It doesn't make sense.

USA, Canada / PolAms -- do you regard yourselves only as 'white Americans'? [187]

Yes, I'm married and have a wonderful little daughter. :) And it's great to see you and Patty around here again. I thought you already gave up on this place.

Congratulations! A daughter? How sweet. I've been here the whole time, probably just in different threads than you.

Unfortunately, over here, we have a lot of people (usually liberal-lefties, naturally) who think that no-one is allowed to call themselves "indigenous British". Although it is unlikely that anyone alive today can claim to be descended from the earliest settlers, it's clear that a group of people eventually came to be regarded as "ethnic Britons" (Scots, English, Welsh), irrespecive of their origins.

That's interesting. People in the U.S. can prove through DNA tests that they're related to the indigenous tribes. It's also like that in Canada, and Latin American countries and probably other countries in the world.

USA, Canada / PolAms -- do you regard yourselves only as 'white Americans'? [187]

The chances of you being ethnically 100% Polish isn't very likely - if you knew the history of the country that you claim to be from, you'd know fine well that Poland was a melting pot and that many people who lived in Poland weren't actually Polish at all. Can you trace your lineage right back to the founding of the Piast dynasty? No?

Nobody is 100 percent anymore in the world. That doesn't mean anything. Based on that idea, how would you explain Native Americans and Mexicans or Africans or Middle Eastern races? They're all a mixture of native and European and nobody tells them that they're not their race.

Why are Native Americans still considered Native American even though they have a mixture of European in them? What about all the Latin American countries? They're a mixture of all sorts of races but yet their kids who are born outside of those countries are considered descendants of them. No one tells someone of Mexican descent that they or their parents are not really Mexican just because the full blooded Aztecs are gone.

USA, Canada / PolAms -- do you regard yourselves only as 'white Americans'? [187]

Part of my wifes family comes from what is now Belarus.

Matyjasz is that you? You're married now? aww. How cute.

I may be wrong but sometimes it seems as if this "I'm Irish American", and "I'm Italian Am" was a form of snobbery amongst yourselves. You know, everyone wants to be something special and not just yer plain american mutt.

But even the government does that. They use the terms African American and Mexican American on the census form.

Not all Americans are a large mixture of races. There are a lot of legal immigrants and first generations. Some immigrants required their children to marry within their race. For some races, it was not even legal to marry a person of another race. Being American doesn't automatically mean racial mixture.

Love / How to make a guy (Polish or other) happy? [62]

Breaking up wasn't nice for my friend. She heard something like :"Well, I am not sure if you will not want to be with me again", "you aren't resposible, you don't know what you want, you don't want to grow up or similar b**** like "you wanted to be on a lonely island and I even wanted to be with you there".

A man who blames the woman because he was unfaithful? That's a surprise. Seriously, why didn't he break up with her first and then date the other woman? Because he's a cheater. He probably did it before and will do it again with the new woman. It wasn't her fault.

Genealogy / Mixed-Blood Poles in America (Do we count?) [118]

Ok if someone is born in America yet thier father was born in Mexico are they not Mexican?

They're American citizens but racially they're considered Mexican American whether they speak Spanish or not and regardless if they've ever been to Mexico.
