It's a myth that the American health care system is the best in the world. Don't get fooled by the propaganda of your politicians. You as a veteran must know this better than anybody else.

My personal observation is thus: In European society, there is no male of "masculine" component. therefore, all situations or problems are viewed from the female or "feminine" perspective. IMO, this only allows the European mind to see half of any issue.

have you seen their tax rates? it's more than a "little".

Between what I pay for my health insurance and what my employer pays for it it costs me $750/month. Isn't that a tax?

Don't worry, the Poles have them sussed out. They can predict everything ;0 ;0 ;)

As for Americans, look at their literary tradition. James Patterson outsold King and Grisham together, all brilliant authors! A bit like Fleetwood Mac did to the Stones and the Beatles.

Alex Kava also has a great character in Maggie O'Dell though I prefer Alex Cross of Patterson's great mind. Jeff Lindsay is also a genius for creating Dexter, a masterstroke! I enjoy reading such stories from American authors.

I didn't say it was the best, Other. As a vet? I was never treated in another country. I didn't inspect foreign hospitals or anything.

Hey, a lot of Canadians come down here for treatment is all I'm saying.

As a vet?

I was hinting at the Walter Reed hospital scandal a few years back and at the mess in other VA hospitals.

You should check out Hunter S, Thompson. A uniquely American author R.I.P.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hunter_S._Thompson

In his will, he requested that his body be cremated and his ashes shot out of a cannon while his friends drank glasses of his favorite scotch whiskey.

HEy throw a rock and you'll hit an anglophile in the states.. uh well a lot of rocks maybe.. but still there's a lot. My buddy has a Triumph Thruxton. Love that bike.

All my health care comes from the VA. It's been pretty good plus I get to hear all the latest dirty jokes as I wait for Nurse Ratchit. Plus all my dope is free.

I've heard of him, Timotei. I was very lucky to stumble across the abovementioned authors as they were in the bookcase at my English school. However, the general scene here in Gliwice is pretty dire so I may have to order such authors. I could join a library here but I may have to read him in Polish and I doubt his works were translated to Polish.

I have to defend the American corner. I have met so many smug Europeans that I felt like belting with a huge fish. Americans are more accessible generally. Europeans get caught up in their own perceived self importance but Americans tend to be better bar companions.

Thanks Sean, Look, I dont think Americans are gods gift to humanity or anything like that. We have things we do well and things that we don't. Europeans are basically the same way. I think many people try to break us down using emotional arguments that really have no effect but to generally amuse us. You're dumb, you're fat, etc. That **** would devastate my wife, but not me. Our self-esteem just isn't that fragile.

It would be an honor to drink with you good sir.

Some of the tv shows in America blow the ones here away. They have so many charismatic talk show hosts with their fingers on the pulse.

Also, compare Polish comedy with American comedy. There is no comparison. Americans are much funnier and are straight talkers. Give me anything near as funny as the Blue Collar Comedy Tour here. Nothing gets close IMHO.

Dave Chappelle was funny til he exited the limelight.

Craig Ferguson is funny, too, although that Scot is hard to understand sometimes.

Daves mother lives about 10 miles North of me. I met him at a restaurant where he eats lunch regularly. Nice guy. We have a mutual friend.

frighteningly accurate commentary as ever.

Is this guy big in America as a Youtube phenomenon? If not, he should be. The Kimbo Slice of straight talking.

ROTFL, I got his point :) :) I doubt my wife would like him though. But, you know, Alaska oooover kaaawfee, LOL

Another major plus of America, the diversity among the states. Poland has little or no diversity outside of Silesia and Kashubia.

I remember my American friend laughing at a fellow American from Wisconsin due to his accent. WiskAAAAnsin, LOL. Americans can laugh at themselves for the most part.

American from Wisconsin

Yeah. They speak minnewiegion. I left WI. 20 years ago but when I go home I pick up the accent right away. They tell me I sound like I'm from Alabama. -lol I can't even understand what those dudes from Alabama are saying. America is a pretty big place.
