USA, Canada / sending text message to canada from poland [9]

I have no problems sending/receiving sms/calls to Poland, as long as the other party is not on Play. I dont know why, but as Blackout said, Play is not working for me either. I am with Fido, so GSM network, as opposed CDMA.

Love / My best New Year's in years or "Polish ladies are simply the best!!!" [11]

Thank you all. Yes, I am not trying to get my hopes up, or anything like that, and I am definetaly not a teen either. Things look very good so far, and we are about to get on the phone and setup the details of the visit. From the looks of it, we are coming over her parents' place for dinner (and they are very traditional polish LOL)... for some reason I have a mental image of the scene from "Meet the Fockers" , when Robert DeNiro does the "interview".. stay tuned ;)

Love / My best New Year's in years or "Polish ladies are simply the best!!!" [11]

I just had to share it with everyone....

Do you still believe in the 'love from the first sight'??? I was getting to the point thinking its a fairly tale...but on the Dec 29th we met, interestingly online and absolutely out of the blue. To add some details, we are both polish, both speaking both english and polish. I live in Edmonton, she lives in Calgary, roughly 300km away. After spending pretty much half the day talking on MSN, then on the phone, I said I would drive down to Calgary and spent New Year's with her, when she proposed the opposite. I was quite shocked...experiencing the "foot-in-the-mouth" disease. I mean this was the really last thing I was expecting to happen to me this year.... She came to Edmonton on the afternoon the 31st and we had incredibly awesome and out-of-this-world time together. I still think I just had a lucid dream, and this really never happened LOL. I have never felt this close and drawn to someone I barely know. It is almost freaking me out how many things we have in common, including our parents, their jobs etc.... She left back home 2 hours ago, and I already miss her..... She is simply everything I always wanted and was looking for in a lady. I am driving to Calgary this Friday (already took the day off as she is off work at noon) and cant wait to see her again. All the sudden I look at year 2008 at completely new light :) To sum it up, polish ladies are simply the best!!!!!!

Just curious :) Its always nice to meet new people and make new friends, especially when one talks to them first on an internet based forum like this one.

Love / i Have been dating a polish guy for 2 years and i NEED help [10]

This is a tough one. Some hardcore-polish families can be very "traditional" and actually, for the lack of other word, racist. My best friend (polish) is in a very similar situation. His wife is canadian, 3/4 caucasian and 1/4 native american - wonderful girl, dread gorgeous, smart, well educated, "the works". But his parents will not simply accept her into the family. My mother 'loves her' and even she took time and effort to talk to his parents to no avail. Its been going like this for the last 7 years... The situation got somewhat better now that they have a kid together, but the relationship between the wife and the polish parents is very cold. If he loves you, he will listen to his heart and not what his parents are telling him. Good luck.

Study / Back to the college, want to continue studies in Poland... [13]

If you have completed your current education in North America, you will be up to a big surprise. The education level is on much higher level. I remember back in 1991, when I first came to canada (I was in equivalent grade 10 in Poland then) I was put in grade 10. Quite frankly, I found the advancement level very poor and consequently I challenged all the grade 12 exams, and passed (except for english)...

Besides, you may need (I am not sure - don't know the system anymore. Can anyone currently living in Poland fill in the blanks??) the Matura to get into any post secondary education, or equivalent (Grade 12??)
