How would I say Mr and Mrs Kowalczyk using the word państwo?
Would it be państwo Kowalczykowie?
And if I wanted to say Mr and Mrs Kowalczyk aren't here would I say:
Nie ma państwa Kowalczyków?

Yes, that's right. One of the frustrating things about Czech is that you spend an inordinate amount of time learning the declension of nouns and adjectives (which are just as complex as in Polish) only to discover that in colloquial speech many of these endings are different. You have to at least be able to recognise these alternate endings. For example:
literary Cz instrumental plural syny (masc noun sons) ženami (f women) moři (nt seas)
collo Cz instrumental plural synama (masc noun sons) ženama (f women) mořema(nt seas)

The Czech forms are virtually identical. just spelt differently.
oko - oèi - oèima
ucho - uši - ušima
ruka - ruce - rukama
For that matter, weird 'plurals' of some body parts that come in twos in Polish also are etymologically dual.
eye - oko - oczy (instead of oka)
ear - ucho - uszy (instead of ucha)
hand/arm - ręka - ręce (instead of ręki - I'm not sure if 'w ręku' is etymologically dual or not)
Also there are some optional irregular forms that come from old dual forms like oczyma (alongside regular oczami).

Czech (and possibly Slovak too,I'm not sure) still retains the dual form for certain nouns, mainly parts of the body which come in pairs.

Language / półtora/półtorej - do they decline? [5]
So after the preposition około the word półtora doesn't change. For example if I had said dwa miliona I would have to change dwa to dwóch I think? (genetive case after około)

Somebody also wrote this sentence 'wejdę pod górę' as an alternative to using the verb wsiąć. But I thought wejdę was from the verb 'wejść' to enter. And why the preposition pod?

Haven't visited this site for a while so wasn't aware of the controversy my posting had caused. So if Wspiąć się isn't used much in normal conversation how would I say 'Tomorrow I will climb that mountain' and 'Yesterday I climbed that mountain'?

I think duży is the equivalent of big/large and wielki the equivalent of great in such phrases as 'Great Britain' or the Great Wall of China. But not in the sense of really good as in 'that was a great party'
As for being a stolen Russian word, that certainly isn't correct, it is a word common to many slavonic languages. For example it shares the same root as the Czech word velký and Slovak vel'ký, both meaning large as well as great.

I can't find the conjugation of the verb wspiąć się in any of my grammar books. I am taking a guess that it is conjugated like the verb spiąć, which according to my dictionary is conjugated: zepnę, zepniesz etc. So is wspiąć się conjugated wzepnę się, wzepniesz się etc?
