Love / 5 ways how to pick up (cute Polish) guys? [146]

Guys! What do you like in a girl?

I like the one's with a one word vocabulary (YES, TAK, SI; etc.)

And how do you try to pick up she?

I troll with my tongue and drool profusely.

Genealogy / Polish surname meanings and origins [25]

On the German front, my surname is Neulinger, and I feel awful for the guy who got stuck with it. My surname literally translates to "New Person".

The Polish equivalent of Neulinger is Nowak.

Genealogy / May I know if 'Plawsky' is a Polish surname [11]

'Sky' is never Polish. When you see a surname that ends in 'sky', it indicates a slavic name that was converted from cyrillic to latin text. The name, I would guess is most likely of Ukrainian or White Russian origin.

Language / What does "czy" mean? [37]

I believe the word 'czy' is used to alert the listener that a question is being asked. For instance, if I was to say, "Isn't the sky blue", the listener wouldn't know if I'm merely making a statement or asking a question.

Genealogy / Has anyone taken Genealogy DNA tests? [87]

Here's the link to the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth Dna Project . You can select either the Y-chromosome or mitochondrial results. I'm represented by my great grandfather Nikolaj Zaleski under haplogroup G (Central Asia/Caucasus). Be patient, the spreadsheet takes a little time to generate. familytreedna.com/public/polish/

News / to buy or not to buy a polish keyboard ? [11]

Wozzy, you have to start thinking like a cheapskate. Polish fonts are available on the internet for free. Go to your search engine box and type 'free polish fonts'. I use the Ogonki fonts: Ą ą Ć ć Ę ę £ ł Ń ń Ó ó Ś ś Ż ż - ź.
