Aha... a post back on topic!

I was doubtful that being born here was enough, on its own, to get you a British passport, but I just wanted to know for sure. Not because it matters whether the baby in question has a British or a Polish passport, the parents aren't worried either way. I just wanted to know out of interest.

This is a situation I have seen a couple of times with my friends.

Its not right but... (I'll have to use my friends as the example here)

The bf's came here first and the gf's soon followed because the bf's were lonely here on their own, with no family and the gf's wanted a new life (not to mention the mutual distrust of living in different countries, etc, etc)

But as time goes on they start getting sick of each other. In this case they are living in a small room in a shared house, on top of each other 24/7 (not literally... ok well, maybe for the first few months!)

Anyway, once the novelty of living together has worn off they have a predicament. If the bf splits up, then he will be abandoning the gf in a foreign country and how will she fend for herself (this is exactly the situation one of my friends has) etc etc. The bf also thinks the gf might want to leave but is waiting to meet someone new who will care for her and make sure she is ok.

So the long and the short of it is they stay together out of fear and convenience.

So... although mcog's situation isn't good and cheating shouldn't be condoned, I can see the other side of it. Maybe this girl is genuinely scared, but has fallen in love with mcog?

Oh and by the way, my husband had an affair and run off in the night with a younger version, after 10yrs of marriage, so I know all about infidelity!

Hahaha... this is one of my favourite comments so far!

There most likely is some difference in style, as styles can vary from one end of a country to the other, let alone in totally differing cultures etc.

My Polish friends have just noticed that where we live if you see a girl in white wash jeans, you know, blue denim thats almost white, then 99% of the time its a Polish girl. Not a generalisation.. just an observation that they have made. I personally do not own a pair of jeans like that!

Oh dear...

Not sure exactly what to advise other than to say my Polish bf/ex-bf (not too sure about that!? haha) is blonde and his sister has dark hair.

But one time, when he was showing me pictures on his phone, before we were going out he showed me a pic of a pretty girl and said it was his sister, then another one of her and then another one of the same girl topless!!? It was funny at the time, but after that any girl he was dating was refered to as his 'sister'! Of course the girl was his gf at the time.

I don't know what to suggest tho, either ask him outright what his situation is or just forget him if you think he's being secretive/deceitful.

Maybe you should just accept that things are different in Poland than here in the UK.

I know a Polish girl who is very happy with her boyfriend, who happens to be black and over here its no problem. They are happy together, but if the rest of her family found out they are going to go absolutely mental. I know this because her brothers have find out but not her parents. Her brothers disapprove but know that things are different here, however they said that the parents will probably never speak to her again... so I doubt very much she will be taking him on holiday to Poland with her.

It's not right, but its how it is, for her and her family anyway. I wouldn't go making mountains out of molehills just yet.

But if Wroclaw is right and its just an excuse to cover up for some other reason, then yeah you have a problem.

Maybe he just needs some time to get used to the idea and will change his mind about the suggestion to go to a hotel somewhere else.. who knows.

Anyway, they told me if they do that to someone it means a big fcuk off - thats their words.

Ironically though in the UK some people do that when something is cool or really good... so I expect this could lead to a big misunderstanding if an English guy does this gesture to one of the Polish guys!
