UK, Ireland / All That Manners Business [I'm Polish, moved to UK as an au pair.] [87]

Hey, long time since i was in this forum last now.
And you live in England now Wysp, and i live now in Poland ;)
Everyone has some people one can never get along with, my cure is to be myself and dont care about that person who does not like you. Everyone here knows i am Norwegian and i behave Norwegian. I think it would be good for you if you did not try so much to get your boyfriends mom to like you, be yourself.

The only thing i dont understand is:
Here in Poland i am almost always greeted with "Cześć, jak się masz?" and it seems this is part of Polish curtesy and politeness. How come it is so strange to say "How are you?" ,maybe i understood it wrong, but explain :)

Of course i wish you all the best Wyspi :)

Travel / Good places (romantic too) to go in Wroclaw [14]

Merged: Wroclaw - romantic places and weather

I am going to Wroclaw in the beginning of May, and i was wondering if anyone who knows the city good could give me some answers.

First thing i am wondering about is how the weather usually is in the beginning of May.
And the second thing is: I am going there with my special someone, and what can some of you recommend to see and do in Wroclaw? Maybe something a little romantic?

Thanks in advance :)

Life / Polish escort services - legal in Poland? [98]

I dont understand why someone pays for something that is free ;)
Read a book on some communication skills ,and the go to a bar and talk to girls. You will be supprised how easy it is to get accuainted with a real person that acctually has interest for you and not your money :)

Language / (part 2) Polish Language Pronunciation - Sample Words and Phrases [311]

I think you made a very confusing explanation Michal, and it could be misunderstood.

Now, w Warszawie ,the single "w" always sound like "f" ,it also sounds like "f" in endings like -ów (like in Kraków). All W in "Warszawie" and "Częstochowie" sound like "v".

Language / A good learning book for Polish [44]

Basic Polish: A Grammar and Workbook (Routledge Grammars) by Dana Bielec )

Intermediate Polish: A Grammar and Workbook (Grammar Workbooks) by Dana Bielec

Yes, i think they are much better than the "Polish in 4 weeks"book i had before.

Love / Does she like me? - help needed please from any Polish girls.. [79]

Signs i look for is eye contact ,she looks you in the eyes ,also if her pupils are dialated even if the light is bright she is interested in you. Also how fast she answers the phone when you call :) If she leans towards you or her body faces towards you.

Try touching her shoulders , hair or hands and see how she reacts.

There are millions of ways to test if she is interested in you. :)
I wish you good luck with your love :)

History / Polish - Vikings relations [26]

Of course they had good relations, vikings where trading with a lot of counties in Europa. And Poland was one of the best nations to trade with.

There must be a reason us norwegians are very popular in Poland :)

USA, Canada / The 2nd Amendment (USA), the right to own guns [261]

maybe in some states but in general, no. that really makes no sense.. who check that one's guns are in that cabinet and seperate from ammunition?

Nobody checks it ,but if something happens to the guns and they where not properly stored ,then it will be hell to pay.

USA, Canada / The 2nd Amendment (USA), the right to own guns [261]

I Norway we have a law that says one who owns guns must also have a guncabinet to keep them locked in. And ammunition can not be locked into the same cabinet.

Is there no such law in USA?

Life / Cigarette Smoking in Poland [146]

I would smoke if i could see the point of pulling smoke into my lungs, but since it seem very logical to me that this can not be good for me, i dont.

But it is up to everyone to find out they're own logic about smoking ,i can only speak for me.

USA, Canada / The 2nd Amendment (USA), the right to own guns [261]

Norway has one of the biggest percetange of guns per civialian ,still we have very few deaths by guns. I think it has more to do with the culture than with the guns itself.

I myself have 2 Pistols and a Steyr AUG assault rifle, but i would never dream of pointing them at someone.

Language / (part 2) Polish Language Pronunciation - Sample Words and Phrases [311]

It helps when you start to know that there are two different sounds that English-speakers' ears hear as 'ch' - neither of them spelt 'ch'! So, although it sounds a bit like 'cheshch', it isn't.

I have this newspaper article i would like to know how to pronounce :P

Love / How can I conquer a Polish woman? [84]

There is no secret trick, but one have to know how to treat women. There is nothing special just because she is polish. Ask her out for a coffee ,or if you are very young for a happy meal.

Actually ,a happy meal at McDonlds worked well for dating women too, hehe.

Language / What language do you like better, Polish or English? [71]

I like both English and Polish.

English because of it is always useful in any country.

Polish because it is a great challenge to learn ,and a lot of fun ,and i must not forget to mention all the great friends i have gotten while trying to learn it :)
