News / Weak US dollar in Poland and other countries... [180]

yep looks like the Federal Reserve can't print dollars fast enough!

French will give them soldiers ...

Sarkozy will have to send the Foreign Legion, French troops won't want to go to the mid-east to fight Uncle Sam's war - oops that's what Poland is for!

Love / When does flirting get out of control? [35]

she had already told me how she hated fighting... and here I was -- put in a situation where I'm going to have to do something about this current course of events.

these two were probably a couple of out-of-work actors your date hired just to see how you would handle it, it was a test

Still, it won't be good for Europe if USA will be replaced by, lets say, china. A thing that many anti-americans seem not to notice.

china, america, russia, israel...they are all a bunch of parasites as far as i'm concerned and i don't want to see a world ruled unilaterally by any one of these jackals, just like since the beginning of time they will bleed the world dry and use us (weak countries like Poland) for cannon fodder

News / Polish people reactions towards the last elections in Poland [59]

would like to know what polish people actually living in PL think of this last elections. thank u

"The future is not a gift, it is an achievement. Every generation helps make its own future. This is the essential challenge of the present."

-Robert Kennedy

Bad result.

what's bad for some is good for others. Americans of Polish descent are more pro-PiS because PiS is more pro-American and less bullish on Europe, which mirrors the attitudes of Americans in general. Most Americans think Europeans are suspicious shifty half-gays who oddly enough prefer soccer to baseball and who smell funny and eat strange food.

But in reality Europe is the way to go: thin, sexy, shapely women, good munchies on every street corner, and much less likely to burp at the dinner table

News / Weak US dollar in Poland and other countries... [180]

EU has to be equlal partner for USA. and on economical level we should try to use free market to win over them ...

to win over the USA you need control of resources, namely natural gas and oil. the oil-dollar cycle is what keeps the US military afloat. Iraq was invaded not only because they had oil but because they started selling their oil for euros instead of the dollar, which every OPEC country is theoretically required to do. as soon as Iran hinted that it is interested in trading oil for euros, it became the next target.

But Iran has not (yet) been attacked

probably only because the US is going broke as we speak, the dollar is STILL falling. plus there arent enough troops to invade Iran, they would need a draft again just like during Vietnam..

News / Weak US dollar in Poland and other countries... [180]

the US has created many monsters over the years and now they are turning around to bite America on the ass. As the saying goes, you reap what you sow, no one to blame but the Neoconservative pinheads who are currently doing a splendid job of bankrupting what used to be a fine country. Just google the US national debt clock...

In the future the only way other than bowing to a guy in Beijing will be a union of both Europe and America.

you are assuming Europe wants to get married to an out-of-control debt junkie who spends all of his money on guns and toys. Sounds like a marriage made in hell, no thanks, you can keep America haha..

Law / I want to go to poland but worried about the army [38]

And also does that mean that every polish man that is born in poland has to serve in the army at some point of his live?

in theory yes but many people successfully avoid it. for the last time dO NOT worry about getting drafted, your family in Oz are probably just scaring you for fun. if you left Poland at a young age there is no way they would have any record of your existence and therefore no place to send you a notice to report for medical screening, which would then establish your eligibility. relax, they dont waste time chasing long-lost Poles like you...

News / Poles in Iraq. What's the point? [160]

I SERIOUSLY doubt anyone is over there for the money.

Polish soldiers in Poland are badly paid, but if they go to IRAQ they end up doing quite well for themselves. Most Polish troops are more pragmatic and worldly than the average Yank infantryman so yes most of them ae there for the money, some are there for bragging rights but I doubt many of them have delusions about liberating Iraqis or spreading democracy

Food / Is lamb big in Poland? [53]

Dangerous question: what goes into kebabs in Poland?

usually chicken, sometimes lamb.

What about polish sausage called "kabanos" I liked it very much until someone told me it is made of horse meat

kabanos is usually either pork or chicken, sometimes turkey or boar. horse is rare, most consumers wouldnt want to eat it

News / The Maluch Car [34]

Its good as a recreational vehicle, and that's it. No one drove them because they were cool, but because it was all that was affordable. They are uncomfortable unless you are shorter than 165cm, and in accidents they have no safety value whatsoever so if you have a death wish it will be a good car for you. I would use it to get me around the campsite and to go get beer at the corner shop, but that is about it.

no not yet thank God but I have noticed more and more Gypsy types lately-panhandling is their prefered activity

what are the big banks in Poland & do Poles own them?...

Millenium, BGŻ, Lukasbank, Mbank, PKO SA - I dont know if they are owned by zionists or by aliens but they are bleeding us dry!

many of us are waiting for, shall we say, the 'clampdown'.

why are you waiting, just leave for greener pastures you fool

News / Third World War and the role of Poland [82]

Poland should declare complete nuetrality, like Switzerland, and offer Polish banks as a safe haven for capital

impossible because neutrality is for countries that are strong and cohesive internally, like Switzerland or Sweden, Poland has usually been seen as weak and therefore easily manipulated. First the Russians raped us blind (but there were plenty of Poles who were happy to help in exchange for cushy party positions) and now Uncle Scam ownz us

:(
Poland's banks are mostly foreign-owned, your safe haven scheme will never work..

Life / What car would I get for £3500 in Poland? [5]

look up Allegro.pl then go to Automoto and search the cars (prices in Polish Złoty), it will give you an idea of what is selling for what, 3500pounds is a decent enough sum to buy a 1998 VW Golf for example

Travel / Warsaw bar scene [12]

Also, is there anything that I should know, as far as customs, etiquette, etc, that might be confusing to me while I'm out on the town.

note that being underdressed will get you refused entry into most clubs in the center. other than that no special ettiquette tips need be mentioned, Polish clubs are just like anywhere else.

I second the vote for Klubokawiarnia, unique Polish socialist-realist decor, good music, and a good crowd. Cinnamon has been the yuppie hangout of choice for a while now, Organza isn't so bad and there are plenty of pubs and clubs up and down the little street its on (ul. Sienkiewicza), which makes it a good place as any to start out..

News / Poland 2007 Elections: PO Won, PIS second [232]

If you read posts of another Russian on this forum you will notice that they want democracy ...

I hate to say but this isn't evidence that "they" all want democracy.

LoL people in prison are not all criminals..

true, there are people in jail who are guilty of nothing more than smoking a joint..

48% of Ukrainnians are pro Polish, while 49% are pro Russian. Or maybe it's the other way around???

insignificant margin, just call it 50-50

News / Poland 2007 Elections: PO Won, PIS second [232]

If PO, through their negotiations with the US, will make the US government to cancel that visa requirement for Poles, I would vote for PO next time.

please be aware that this has been more up to the USA than Poland. I didnt expect PiS to pull it off anymore than I expect PO to pull it off. I know some feel strongly about the issue but some (like me) could really care less. Soon the dollar will be so weak that the US will be desperate for ANYONE to go there to shop so they can boost the economy and then they will let Poles and many other nationalities enter without visas...it will be the natural outcome of a sagging US economy not a result of some high-level talks between our leaders and theirs...

Travel / Going to Poland in a week... How much money to have a "good time"? [11]

It seems that things are MORE expensive than in US??? It doesn't sound right, but I wouldn't be surprised.

don't be surprised, now that the dollar is at an all-time low. times have chjanged a LOT since 1993. Dinner at an average resteraunt in Warsaw will cost about 30-40 złoty for a normal meal including starter, of course much more in posher places. A cheap resteraunt (ie Vitnamese) will cost about 12-15 złoty per person...of course these prices are just for food.

News / Poland 2007 Elections: PO Won, PIS second [232]

However PiS hijacked shamelessly public media, put their own people on all the posts and they did their job marginalizing other parties.

looks like their plan backfired..

News / Poland 2007 Elections: PO Won, PIS second [232]

What did PiS offer to PL Americans? Why would 80% vote PiS?

its safe to say that they are a little "out of touch" with the current reality...Polish Americans think that schoolgirls in Poland still curtsey when meeting strangers and that Pewex shops are still in business....?

But "young" is not "wise" at the same time. Wise comes with experience, not education.

true that. u got a point there.

people will be so disappointed that it's not possible to do "the next Ireland" overnight that they will ignore the next elections for many years to come.

unfortunately people are impatient animals who want it quick and easy...

..

well anyway woe to the nation that spends money on buying guns and bombs and cannot even control gun crime and drugs in its own country

is this a reference to the USA or Poland? there are few guns here in Poland and no more drugs than any other industrialised country...

News / Poland 2007 Elections: PO Won, PIS second [232]

As predicted, about 80% of Poles in the US voted for PIS; about 80% of Poles in the UK voted for PO. That's interesting.

It's predictable-the Polish community (and I have known many of them personally) in the States is old-fashioned and anachronistic. That is the stereotype of the PiS electorate...

News / Poland 2007 Elections: PO Won, PIS second [232]

we didnt give justice party a chance

we gave them a chance and they caused shame and embarassment to many Poles. Say what you want, but any party who openly supoported the public financing of a very expensive and elaborate super-church (Swiątynia Bożej Opaczności)while the highways are falling apart (and new ones not being built) deserves to lose an election.

Woe to the nation that succumbed to the power of liberal media.

Woe to the nation that neglects its infrastructure and doesn't extend its third-world highway network...

Tusk will lick Gerries' ass.

some may beg to differ. having cordial and business-like relations with a neighbour (despite a bad past) is good politics, not licking ass. unlike some, who lick the ass of the US so shamelessly that we look like either grovelling fools or awestruck cooing babies who drool at the sight of a fancy fighter plane..
