USA, Canada / Toronto area - employment situation [4]

I have just heard from people who have relatives in Canada that the employment situation is "drastic" and that "only the lucky few in Canada have jobs." I took this to be uninformed doomsday talk - any basis for this kind of talk, especially in the Toronto area?

News / Abkhazia and South Ossetia are independent states now! Poland reaction? [236]

It should be checked who started this mess.

I checked, and the answer is greed over energy and land, and a thirst for power. There are probably a few guilty parties, not just one side right and the other wrong. Of course the usual actors are: Russia, USA, Israel, the arms merchants, and the energy consortiums, plus the devil himself.

News / What Poland has with USA global schemes? [32]

News / Abkhazia and South Ossetia are independent states now! Poland reaction? [236]

i just saw a very interesting short film on Youtube about the FSB, the media, and a bungled bombing attempt (by the FSB). Type "assassination of Russia" into the search window, pick out the English-lang version, and enjoy, would be interested in your feedback.

Life / How important is it to have a car in Poland? [37]

I think for at least 80% of the people that use them in Poland, a car is more a luxury than a necessity. They're a powerful status symbol for many Polish people

well said, it's absolutely true. most pathetic are all the twats who stand around their Audis and brag about how much better their Audis are compared to the so and so....totally boring

Life / How important is it to have a car in Poland? [37]

It gives a feel. It gives a sense of self sufficiency. How to explain?... maybe you dont think the way I do.

so let's agree to disagree. I don't need my car everyday (luckily) so I find myself paying tax and insurance on a 5000 pound paperweight which gathers dust under my window, and I have to worry about people breaking into it, people stealing my hubcaps, pigeons shi%+ing on it, and of course never finding a parking space close to my flat when I do decide to use it and return home. Plus when I do use it to move around the city, I often find myself stuck in traffic, surrounded by total idiots, meatheads, and people who should have never gotten a license to drive. Gas is so expensive that taking the car from one city to another makes no financial sense if I am going alone, it makes more sense to take the train first class where you can have a beer and read the paper as you go in the same time as if you were to drive.

Yeam, cars give a feel alright - a feel that you are serving the car instead of the other way around. But, I admit if I lived in a smaller town i WOULD want one...

Life / You know you have been living in poland too long when.... [73]

..it finally dawns on you that politics and democracy arer a farce, that there is no such thing as an honest politician, that none of them are interested in your "plight", and that they are all crooked sneaks who are interested in inflating their wallets and egos.

Life / How important is it to have a car in Poland? [37]

All my life in Poland (and thats my entire till now)... I can say... a Car is a must.

i disagree, after living in Warsaw for the past 5 years I can safely say that a car is an unnecessary headache. if you live in central warsaw it makes more sense to forgo the car unless you drive long distances to work everyday, and then you swelter in traffic all day..

Work / Still having a hard time in Poland, no job and low pay.. [15]

aybe it's no worry for you. For Polish business the strength of the Zloty is bad for exports. For Poles working abroad the money they earn is worth less when they sent it home (noimmi will be pleased). For people like me who want to move there it means I won't be able to afford to buy a particularly nice home outright.

yeah so it all depends on your situation. some of us want the zloty to stay strong, as strong as possible, since we earn zloties and we like to travel abroad as often as possible. its good for us, bad for tourists who come here and bad for exporters...

Life / How important is it to have a car in Poland? [37]

Gas is more expensive than in the US and towns are generally more compact, so unless you live outside of town cars are not really a necessity, although as anywhere (apart from places like Warsaw, NY, San Francisco, etc) they offer a bit of independence. I am currently selling my '98 VW Golf, if you are interested PM me.

Love / What do Polish women look for in men? [53]

if the answer isnt a dick and a healthy set of balls, then the ladies are full of misguided whimsy.

News / Rothschilds Open Banking Network in Poland: Allianz Polska [19]

the only way you can have any personal satisfaction in any of this is to loudly say FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUK YOOOOOOOU to all the big banks and refuse their credit cards. Remember, usury is a sin. Always was, always will be.

News / POLAND TO SIGN US MISSILE SHIELD DEAL TONIGHT [239]

I applaud the standards put in place by western powers, EU and NATO.

yeah, but DOUBLE standards sums it up much better, especially regarding NATO and the USA, and unfortunately even Poland. Putin, of course, is just as much a hypocrite as the rest pure and simple...

I am pretty sure that the next President, whoever he/she might be, will back off from this agreement and pull our bases out of Europe

News / POLAND TO SIGN US MISSILE SHIELD DEAL TONIGHT [239]

Any missile from Iran and heading for the US will not pass over Polish territory. So again, what's the point.

the point is that the US has long felt the need to project absolute power, including domination of space. the missile shield is about controlling the upper reaches of the atmosphere and containing Russia and China, and anyone else who wants to get in the way of domination of the middle east oil supply, among other things. if you look at all of this from Russia's point of view, the US has initiated a friendly coup in Georgia a few years ago (the current president of Georgia and his rise to power was/is funded by the US State Dept, and Russia knows it), is trying to suck Ukraine into NATO in order to kick the Russian Black Sea fleet out, and now is installing a missile shield in central Europe.

Russians are not stupid, they know that what the US is doing will effectively give America first-strike capability against Russia. But the media in the US (as well as in Poland) don't want you to know this, they just want you to think it is all about some crazed Iranian mullahs. But don't take my word for it, read about it for yourself and think about it.

What is perfectly clear after the last few days/months is that the Polish leadership is absolutely bent upon promoting US interests in Europe, almost as if their lives depend on it. Now that is freaky...and these di@kwads tell me to sleep better because we will have a few sh+tty Patriot missile batteries rusting around Poland to protect us as world war III is just around the corner (or at least another Cuban Missile Crisis).

News / America: Take your missile base and shove it! [116]

You must admit though, many people who don't want to acknowledge something that forces them to reassess their political compass often dismiss things out of hand.

Generally that seems to be the case, sir. It seems shockingly easy to program people.

News / America: Take your missile base and shove it! [116]

Why the cross imagery behind the accused political leaders?

Probably because Bush, Pearle, Cheney (maybe he less so) often onvoke Godliness and the need to protect Christaindom. The name of the philosopher that they look to (as a major influence of their way of thinking and political strategy) is called L. Strauss, a former U. of Chicago professor, who taught that a God image is necessary to solidify support among the masses, making them easier to rule. Notice how often Bush repeats God Bless America (as most US leaders do).

Strauss taught that the concept of religion is important for ruling, even if the ruler himself does not personally believe it-he should encourage the masses to be as God-fearing as he appears to be.

By the way, the Military Industrial Complex that the video refers to isn't opinion or a conspiracy theory, it's a fact. Eisenhower warned against it, and so did Kennedy, just before they blew his head off.

Travel / How Can I Not be the "Ugly American" Tourist in Poland? [97]

what's this "Ugly American" business? Are Americans considered ugly in Poland?

The business actually comes from a book called "The Ugly American," a novel based on history of America's failures to win the hearts and minds of people in SE Asia during the Vietnam War years. It has become the idiomatic way of pejoratively referring to Americans abroad, because the stereotype is that they are fat, loud, and rude - in a word, ugly. No, not everyone in America is ugly, but not everyone looks like they do in hollywood movies either (slim, tan, muscular, fit, sexy, clear skin, etc).

To the OP, wear your fanny bag if you must, after all we can't teach an old dog new tricks. Just be aware that they are popular targets for pickpockets because they scream "clueless tourist" to the local thieves and suggests that there are passports and moneys inside...

News / March of Tolerance in Krakow [478]

I can spot a disguised fag at far distances or from hearing his laughter or voice. And it is hard not to show them an angry face.

If he is laughing in a faggy way, then he is probably not a disguised fag. I still don't get how Christians forget everything they learn in mass about love and tolerance the second they step out of church. Must be the two-faced nature of organized religion..
