Life / Cool Polish names [133]

Officialy they're still different names. You talking about common altering of names. For example young girl Jadwiga maybe called by her mother as Jagusia (which is a totally different name). It's like Darren - Daz, Gary - Gaz, Barry - Baz and so on but they're not the official names.

Life / HOW CAN POLISH PEOPLE AFFORD IT?? They are said to earn very little..? [43]

'Polish secret'

Yes it is a "Polish secret" - how to spend more than officially earned. On my first post in this thread i've just revealed this secret. Not in every case but in most it's about "second hand, untaxed money". I have to agree it's a generalisation.

There is some truth in what u r saying TripTic but, a word of advice, be careful (well, 2 words, LOL). Poles are sensitive on such matters

No worries. I'm Pole and i know what i'm saiyng. Everybody in Poland knows about that.

By the way...unfair competition, bribes and corruption are still widespread in PL ..unfortunately. Hope it ends soon.

History / Some names to the faces of brave Poles during WW2 German Invasion [24]

To Szczery:

I didn't say that communism is a good thing. I just said that Che truly believed what he was fighting for.

...don't you ever dare say what should i do or no. THIS IS NOT YOUR BUSINESS!!!

...he didn't beg for his life when Bolivians captured him, he said: "don't kill me i'm Che!"

That's a big difference you dumb f.u.c.k!!!

...and finally: you inputed your post which is nowhere near the subject.

UK, Ireland / Poles and Britis - why we should hate each other? [38]

Polish and British people don't have to like each other. Be simply neutral to each other and do not forget that we are here only for money and nothing else.

hmm... not really..your point is sort of one sided. I'm not here only for money. And most of my friends in here are english.

Life / How do Polish people view themselves? [92]

I would like to make this clear once and for all: do the Polish think of themselves as being from a better/worse society/culture/country than other ppl?

I'm not someone special. I'm just a little bit different. Not in a good or a bad way. ...just a little bit different.

I've never compared myself to english ppl.

History / Some names to the faces of brave Poles during WW2 German Invasion [24]

It is long, heartbreaking, and yet you can see that Poland was filled to the brim with Martyrs, during the German Invasion and Occupation during WW2. Starved, beaten, humiliated, they never gave in.

My family suffered a lot from them.
My grandpa's first wife and his two kids (daughter age 5 and 1 yr old son) were slaughtered among of 360 others villagers of small village Jezierce nearby Lwow (currently in Ukraine).German nazis done it with massive help of Ukrainian Police.

For forum members who can read in polish:

History / Fall of Communism in Poland [33]

For me personally it was very strange. Communism fell down in summer of '89. That year i ended my education in elementary school and after summer break (when old system colapsed) i went to highschool. Everything was different in terms of new school obviously. But i won't forget big poster in the hall of my highschool showing Lech Wałęsa, Pope John Paul II and massive "Solidarność" (Solidarity) logo on it. I saw it officially legal for the first time.

News / I love Poland because... (in 10 words or less) [182]

but most of the Polish blokes I know are monolythic neanderthalers, working in construction, after 7 years in Dublin still not speak a decent word of English and generally seem to indulge in their misery, wanting to go back to Poland and in the meantime making about 800 to 900 Euros a month and sharing a house with six likewise characters

It's a very shallow judgement. You haven't met decent ones and you shouldn't judge us that way. Shame on you. :(

There is always a LIMIT

Just to let you know...

Polish tendency to immigrate to UK is decreasing right now rapidly. Because polish currency is getting stronger (for some reason and I completely don't know why)it's causing many of Poles coming back to Poland.

Immigration can be a benefit to the country

It is a benefit to this country when you talking about Poles and ours work mentality

MASS immigration

..hmmm.... 1+1=2 or 1000+1000=2000 which means it is even more benefits to this country ..do the math.

I've met some Polish that were arrogant and had the "I'm only here for the money" attitude

You can't help it mate....tossers are everywhere - regardless skin colour and nationality.

If immigration is open to non-eu migrants then I would LOVE the Eastern Europeans to come here. In Asian dominated areas we're now starting to see white faces and that's thanks to the likes of Poles, Czechs, Estonians etc

is that mean: If immigration wouldn't be open to non-eu emigrants you wouldn't be as "happy" as you are right now about Poles?
