Life / How Fast is the Polish Legal System? [44]

My empathy.. are we supposed to feel sorry for him?

Depends on if you are a dick or not. He WAS trying to follow the proper procedure but he was led astray by people he was supposed to be able to count on.

As for me...I will have empathy for Lowfunk....he was trying. The system here is so ridiculously inconsistent and dishonest I will give him credit for that.

I know the resident scumbags will be along shortly to rip on lowfunk and kick him while he is down. Reciting rules that are either out of date, out of context, or ignored randomly by the officials. But pissing on suffering people for kicks seems to be accepted here.

Love / What are your views (or Polish views) on abortion? [102]

For Birth Control I am against....in the case of rape, severely damaged/ill fetus that wouldnt survive, or the safety of the mother I am for it.

I oppose making it universally illegal.

Law / Banks making a fotune ..What about the Złoty [11]

1 $ for 2.5 zloty approximatly

Pffft it only ever approached that rate because of dishonesty in the Polish banking system...they got caught with their pants down last year when the world crisis occured and the PLN weakened after that. Nobody is watching now as they have a lot to do and again foolishness is occuring. It is an obvious attempt to gain parity with the Euro for the change over. It's all a game.

Poles are also running around raising prices claiming they are losing money and screaming crisis...yet the ZL is going up...it's always nonsense here.

Agreed....nor would I ask a bitter old brit who has been here for ages and has no clue and likes to quote from rules and regs that are not followed consistently. Since he has never been inside the American embassy and heard what they have to say when you ask for direction on this issue he can't know much. I am amused at people who believe everything they see written down...I have an advertisement for a bridge on the moon for you to check out. It's all proper...formatted according to regulations..what could go wrong? ;)

And predictably Hairy quotes and tries to refute me...but falls on his chubby little british chin. It's funny to watch who he defends...it depends on who is involved and who he hates more...it has nothing to do with reality. When will he learn he doesn't matter much and the truth is what it is and it doesn't matter what he and those like him claim here? I doubt soon ;)

He probably thought hed never get caught.

I know that is how Poles are used to operating so I can see how steroid rage boy here would project that onto others...Poles LOVE to blame others and not take responsibility for the faults in their culture and systems. It's bizarre.

Laws apply to everybody, Poles dont seem to get it over here??

They are just bitter they can't bribe their way out of it anymore. They are not used to rules being consistent and sensible.

It's made up for the most part. They will play with the numbers until they get caught out like they did last year and the ZL drops again. Profit profit profit.

Life / How Fast is the Polish Legal System? [44]

If you are going to require documents of someone you must make them available and follow your own rules. It's like telling someone you can only stay if you have something that MAY or MAY NOT be in a box on the other side of a minefield. The person can suffer the way to the other side and still find the box empty even though they did everything by the "rules". Then you hear stupid things from people here like "threaten them with a stack of the printed out law" or "get a lawyer". The problem with the Polish system is they are not honest and consistent.

Lowfunk did not come here with the intent to work without a permit. In fact he did everything reasonable to try and get the permit. He is unable to go GRAB one from the office. He needs the cooperation of a few different people and they refused to cooperate. But as usual the Poles and their fans blame others. We all know Poles are perfect and never wrong...and rules are for everyone else.

Certain members of this forum have no doubt sent several people into the process expecting for it to go by a logical path....it does not and it is an injustice to lie to people and have them expect it will

The Polish 'law' works when it benefits someone to have it work. It is great press to deport an American...there was even an article about it. Makes Poland feel mighty and powerful.

Lowfunk was also scammed by dishonest Poles in the school. It shows this deep cultural flaws that have ingrained cheating and ignoring these "rules" It shows the character of people here in this forum that they are attacking lowfunk and not the Poles who cheated him.

It doesnt matter what the rules say when people dont enforce them fairly on consistently...they only do when it somehow profits or benefits them. Even the civil court system is a big 'business'. Money changing hands and egos pushing back and forth.

If only Hairy would just stop embarrassing himself...its becoming pitiful.

Life / Good polish bank for online banking? PEKAO SA let me down. [32]

i would prefer to have a bank who is not mentally sick scares about being raped by some silly people!

Poles love to create fear where there is no danger and clutter when there should be clarity. There is probably an entire department who's job it is to write code for the "password number 2" section. This department likely consists of 9 "managers" and one secretary who answers the work phone when she feels like bothering and sends SMS and files her nails the rest of the time.

Real Estate / House Planning Permission in Poland !!! [27]

Contractors here can't work without spray foam, if there is a gap then fill it with foam.

Haha...oh god my side hurts from laughing...this is so true. It bulges out of every crack you can see. Worse yet they don't even trim it off...they just paint over it..paint it used to camoflage all sorts of shoddy work.

Life / Good polish bank for online banking? PEKAO SA let me down. [32]

My point was it is a symptom of greater cultural issues. These things will not change until Poles want them to. They seem ok with bureaucracy and ridiculous standards...ok enough not to do anything about them at least.

God Damn 121234234 questions only to get in your online account?

They are all like that in my experience. It's sort of like having armies of uniformed security guards in every single shop...Poles are constantly scared. It goes beyond reasonable caution.

Real Estate / House Planning Permission in Poland !!! [27]

I will accept that as a fact...but not the main reason. People KNOW when they are cutting corners or cheating. It is not something a lot of Poles are ashamed of doing. Rather than taking the time to do it correctly they smash it together or paint over it. They don't seem to be embarrassed when their work doesn't hold up. Customers don't do much about it either...just yell a bit then go back to their dinner. It is kind of like comparing German quality to Chinese. Everyone knows the cultural standard of quality is much higher with German goods...the Chinese make crap and are not ashamed. I find Poles quite similar (in general...meaning it is a cultural issue)....they have no pride in quality. They get paid the same either way so they'd rather finish up and get home than build well.

Real Estate / House Planning Permission in Poland !!! [27]

No, it would not. 95% of design is about technical requirements and 5% about artsy stuff. So you need to know local building codes well.

Codes mean nothing when the standard is so low. You sound like Harry citing immigration law when the reality is different. Quality is substandard in Polish design and construction...this is tangible in the structures. Even "expensive" flats are crap in quality. It's a cultural standard that is accepted and not corrected...there is no pride in doing it correctly.

It would be at least as good as anything he could get here. Poland is not known for quality of design, materials and construction. The overwhelming majority of structures here are total crap.

You will have to be certified in substandard design and construction. There is a special requirement for electrical outlets. They must not in any circumstance be firmly affixed to the wall.

Clearly you can't be talking about me because

Wrong again Hairy. At least you are consistent.

Lowfunk you know the answer to your initial question. The Polish legal system is like all things in Poland...slow, inefficient and corrupt to some degree. You know this...everyone here knows this...I truly wish there was a better option for you and I am sorry so many people are being ******** about it.

Life / How Fast is the Polish Legal System? [44]

Lowfunk...there are those of us who think you got a raw deal and actually listened to the actual details of your deportation. Don't pay any mind to the comments of the slimey brit who loves to **** on people's situations...he can't pay attention to anything beyond his own ego. He is the type who screams about rules and laws but will be the first to circumvent them when it benefits him or to whine when they don't work like he claims. Some people like him just love to smirk at others misfortune. Just remember not everyone is like that.

I hope you can keep things in good shape with your relationship.

Regarding legal issues your time would be better spent trying to ensure the school is punished for scamming you and the system. Make a lot of noise about it and embarrass them...they need a good reputation to get business...the fact is they misled you in order to avoid the work and cost of helping you properly. They took advantage of the fact that YOU would get booted and they would get a slap on the wrist...this is all too common here. Hammer them with bad publicity.

I am quite sure people will be along after to argue...and that's fine...but you clearly know the answer to your own question. By the time you pay lots of money and wade through the mess your ban will be either over or nearly over. Think about how everything is in Poland...from the grocery store checkouts to a bank...the courts are worse.

I am sorry you had to go through this and I am sorry you miss your gf...good luck whatever you choose.

Genealogy / Need photo from Wrzeszcz of childhood home. [53]

So absolutely NO chance dad could fly even with a medical escort who cares for him before, during and after the flight? They move him in wheelchairs and have advanced equipment and training. I would look closer at this option. When a normal doc says 'no flyin' they mean alone. Taking a medical team along counters that worry. If we can get him there let's do it! I can find you a service of you are interested.

tatt2 I wanted to say also I understand its not always possible to take such a trip for a variety of reasons...didn't mean to come across as if you were not doing enough as you have clearly gone above what most would do and I think its great of you! I just wanted you to have factual options as this is not a normal situation and lots of docs say things like "no flying" and they don't consider options.

So when I visit Poland it ought to interesting to visit them and see the reaction.

If they have been this indifferent to now they will likely pretend to be nice f you go there...as its expected in the home. But as soon as you leave they will start complaining and comment jealously on your life and what you have. It's sport here to envy others...Just don't expect honesty and deep connections. Take the hugs and smiles for what they are...superficial gestures. Focus on the real reason for the visit...to see your father's home and walk in his footsteps...don't get too caught up in thinking about the current situation or you will be disappointed.

Life / Why do People spend half their lives complaining about living in Poland? [55]

And actually she wrote horion not horoin. So you're pretty stupid yourself.

Hmmm...let's see. A typo vs total inability to decipher context...which of us isn't bright? Hmmm....

The whole "last word" comment is weak man. "I have nothing to say so I will leave this here"....everyone knows this is some attempt to 'win' the conversation. If you truly wanted to leave it you wouldnt reply at all.

Good to see admin's doing a good job. Well done :)

Yeah its really convenient when it benefits you isnt it? If they deleted something you didnt like you'd be whining up a storm.

Nah humanity as a whole is still screwed...you just witnesses one of the minority of decent people left doing a good thing. CJJ is a good egg.

Language / PARANOJA -- MISUSED IN POLISH? [20]

welshguy you apparently didnt get the list of rules....Number one is you cannot every say anything that isn't complimentary about Poles or Poland. If you do so you will quickly be censored with one of the following techniques: Counter with an unrelated but distracting argument, blame the commenter and say something about how his/her nation is worse or just as bad, say something like "you clearly don't have any friends", "you are a loser" or "I am not paying attention to you anymore" etc. Get with the program.

Life / Petrol theft in Poland common? [27]

This thread is a load of bullocks. the OP didn't even say where/if he lives in PL. What does Pl or Polish ppl have to do with this thread?

Yeah we all know theft is not common at all in Poland..especially concerning automobiles..it couldn't have possibly happened like the OP said...clearly just another attempt to slur the great Polish race like every other negative thing said about them. Lies lies lies :\
