Love / My polish g/f can be a nightmare,is it always like this [262]

Hi,

I am an older Polish American women and frequently find that Polish women are very demanding from what I hear of them. I often wonder how they do it and if maybe I should take some lessons from some of them but they really seem to keep their guys on short leashes and under the thumb. I'm not being biased - I happen to think that the women from Poland are extremely beautiful (no, I am not gay) but quite frankly I don't know why some of the guys put up with it.

Food / need a mushroom soup recipe [15]

Onions, butter, consume, borowik (prawdziwek)
Can anyone help?

Ok - I'm assuming it was a clear based soup since it doesn't have any cream or milk in it.

First, crumble the borowiki (1/4 to 1/2 cup) and rinse under water. Put them in a pot with about 2 cups of water and simmer until it reduces to 1 cup of liquid. Finely dice a small onion and saute it in butter until it is soft and golden. At this point I would thicken this soup with about 2 tablespoons of flour mixed into the butter/onion mixture. Then add the bulion (chicken or beef is okay) slowly, mixing with a whisk until there are no flour lumps left. Stir in the mushrooms and liquid and salt and pepper to taste. Simmer for 20 - 30 minutes.

Food / SERNIK -- POLISH CHEESECAKE RECIPE [12]

Apr 3, 07, 10:04am - Attached on merging:
Polish Sernik

I am looking for a genuine Polish recipe for sernik or cheesecake like they make it in Poland. Cheesecake is very different here and even if you have a recipe from Poland from your great great grandmother and you make it in the States, it is probably different due to the different ingredients not being available etc. If anyone has a Polish - from Poland (not from a Polish cookbook written in the US) recipe - would you share it.

Thanks.

USA, Canada / Polish Dog Trainer from Chicago area / Dog Lessons [37]

It would be better for you to post in the translation section and there are many people on this forum who are better at it than I am - I'm just learning too.

I have a puppy I am training for protection

Do you have a good resource book for the protection training?

Food / European cuisine student need help with good polish dish [13]

Aha - ok - there is something called Zrazy - I hope I am spelling it correctly. They are thinly sliced beef rolled around a wild mushroom filling and then braised and a terrific sauce made from the braising liquid.

Hey Bartlomiej, I'm getting a long-coat german shepherd from Poland next year

Hey Bartlomiej, I'm getting a long-coat german shepherd from Poland next year. I think they are smarter and better-looking than the US. The long-coat variety is very popular in Poland, not as much in the US, and the ones here go for a lot.

I got a long-haired GS from Poland in November of 2005 and she is gorgeous! You will need to purchase a ticket for $100.00 for the dog to travel in the plane's passenger compartment with you. Also, the dog must be of a certain age. If they are under a certain age, they may not need shots as they are not indicated for puppies under a certain age but it will need a "passport"

Language / What would you name your pet in Polish? [11]

We have two cats - one's name is Nuka and one is Szarek. My husband once had two parakeets named Czipa i Czulik - he thought it was hilarious wheneven people asked their names and since they didn't understand Polish - said oh' those are nice names. He's too bad.

Food / Polish Appetizers at my wedding? [3]

Wow the Poles are know for their "przekaski". Go to the library and pick up any Polish cookbook and you will see many - a lot are very time intensive and complicated but I'm sure you can find some delicious ones for your Wedding.

Life / Real life of a Polish (the Great Woman, or even the Humble Man) :) [20]

I know from personal experience that if I had lived with a certain person before marriage - the marriage would never have taken place. I fully condone it. This isn't the days when you just put up with someone because you're married to them - you can make a choice and to put this fairytale expectation to it doesn't help.
