History / Poland before WWII or Poland now what would you choose? [390]

Chauvinistic Poles denying any german history and achievements in these territories and towns are the problem!

I don't deny there is a German influence, but there is a Polish one too, as well as a latin one since Poland was latinized at one point. You guys gotta share and take credit, both.

History / "Our Forgotten Allies" - Polish-American relations. [52]

like stealing the US secrets or trying to kill everybody aboard some US ship.

Israelis haven't done that to the US. They might not trust us entirely but I doubt the nation trusts anyone all that much.

Don't worry about American pressure on Israel. We, the Jewish people, control America, and the Americans know it."

Well if that's the case they should all move here and abandon that desert. Then we would no longer have this issue. They wouldn't need to spy on us.

UK, Ireland / How can I receive child support from a Polish man living in UK? [33]

You keep saying my girl, my child, and then when it comes to money it is our child. I suggest you take care of your child yourself.

Yeah she'll just get other people besides the father to support the child. What a great idea!

History / World War II - a tragic story for Poland and the World [489]

Where was his heart? Since Copernicus commanded the Royal Polish soldiers during the
defense of a castle in Olsztyn against the Teutonic Knights who were besieging it then it stands to reason who he thought he was.

That's enough to prove Copernicus was Polish.

Poles who had fought under British command were deliberately and specifically barred from the celebration by the British government, for fear of offending Joseph Stalin.

So why does Harry keep believing they were invited? Harry you gots some explainin to do >:O

History / World War II - a tragic story for Poland and the World [489]

Copernicus defended Warmia's independence from the Teutonic Order who were harassing Polish provinces, especially Warmia

What a Pole!

Yes indeed he was, BB. He was "Pole" enough to defend Warmia against the Teutonic Order.
He probably spoke German and Latin because that's what his parents made sure he learned but look at who he fought for and against.

Now, what, exactly did he do for Germany, BB?

You have to admit barring the ones who fought under British command was in very poor taste. All because of Stalin. What's the worst Stalin could have done just because some soldiers marched in a parade?

USA, Canada / Raising children in the US [25]

I have a question.... Why the parents in us would do freaking everything to be kids friends? What happened to respect, to be strict? Sometimes I look at some people with children and see that they treat their kids like eggs. Oh be careful we do not won't to upset our son? What happened to just being a parent? NOT their friend!!!

I would rather have a friend than a parent. That would be great. Overly strict parents end up alienating their kids. It's true. The kids get away from them as soon as they can and move as far away from them as possible and when they have children of their own they aren't as close to the grandparents because the relationship is strained. Being too strict a parent is a bad idea. Childhood should be a happy time so that when grown the child can look back on childhood in a happy way, with good memories.

Which Jews, Greg? Be specific

Seanus, it's the ones that visit around the time of the March of The Living. They vandalize hotels in Poland during their trip.

Just because they are high school kids, Yehudi, doesn't mean they shouldn't be expected to be well behaved and go by the rules just like high school kids everywhere are expected to do. That's life. You can't use some excuse for acting that way.

If that's the case why has the education ministry responded the way it has? Must be because they see a need and have responded appropriately. We should support their wise decision!

This isn't about that, it's about Israel's response to how their teenage citizens are behaving in Poland and you and Sean are trying to bring in these other issues which aren't a part of this topic.

They may be from families that take a strong and misguided view of the Holocaust. Some carry baggage from distorted sources and let their frustrations out on the unsuspecting public.

You could say that statement is part of the topic and has some profundity and astuteness. Digging below the surface some and you are most likely correct in that assertion, Sean, but this talk about soldiers doesn't have much to do with these kids taking yearly trips to Poland.

Or is it that Greg and PP should accept that some children misbehave and that it shouldn't be exaggerated?

Sean, they should be held to standards of conduct just like everyone else. Did you know an American teenager or young adult was punished in Singapor or someplace in Asia because he was vandalizing and being disrespectful and the authorities told him "excuse me, but you cannot act that way here." and they threw the book at him and they had every right to throw it, too. He was acting stupid and they called him on it. Then he went whining to the American Embassy about it but truth is he shouldn't have been acting like that in the first place. He wasn't in the US so he has to expect something different.

It's the same in this situation. Act up and be held responsible. Accept the consequences.

There is a big difference between an adult and a teenager.

Where I live in the US it isn't tolerated. They get in trouble with the police if they get caught spray painting a wall. It's because if no one cared, every single space would be covered with graffiti. It's that big a problem. You have to make a stand or it's going to be an impossible headache of a situation.

The Poles have every right to demand this type of behaviour stop. You would have to be anti Polish to not understand that what the Israelis did was wrong and needed to be stopped.
