History / World War II - a tragic story for Poland and the World [489]

Next Chapter Of Polish hisotry durring WWII

/wiki/Kidnapping_of_Polish_children_by_Germany

Kidnapping of Polish children by Nazi Germany (Polish: Rabunek dzieci), part of the Generalplan Ost (GPO), involved taking children from occupied Poland and moving them to Nazi Germany for the purpose of Germanization, or conversion into Germans. The aim of the project was to acquire and "Germanize" children with purportedly Aryan traits who were considered by Nazi officials to be descendants of German settlers that had immigrated to Poland.[/b]

/wiki/Generalplan_Ost

In 1941 it was decided to destroy the Polish nation completely and the German leadership decided that in 10 to 20 years the Polish state under German occupation was to be fully cleared of any ethnic Poles and settled by German colonists.[4] A majority of them, now deprived of their leaders and most of their intelligentsia (through human losses, destruction of culture, and the ban on education above the absolutely basic level), would have to be deported to regions in the East and scattered over as wide an area of Western Siberia as possible, according to the plan resulting in their assimilation by the local populations which would cause the Poles to vanish as a nation.

After that ... Germans could had been exterminated ... well somebody decided to treat them softer....

The fact is that they wanted to exterminate whole Polish nation.

After that ... Germans could had been exterminated ... well somebody decided to treat them softer....

I am thinking ... about this conclusion... Finally Germans wanted to exterminate whole Poland ... murdered millions of Polish citiens ( 50% of murdered were Jews 50% were christian)

If they had been exterminated in revenge after the war ... as for me it looks ok.

Well somebody made different decision and there was no serious revenge on them after the war ... maybe that is why they are so impudent with their interpretations of history.

Now we are neighbors and new generations are growing but drawing a conclusion ... next time punishment for such crimes (lets hope it will never happen) should be much more severe.

Bratwurst you can use term Nazi instead of German but ... you can claim that Hitler was born in Austria but ... It was German policy.

/wiki/Expulsion_of_Poles_by_Germany

It is estimated that between 1.6 and 2 million people [9] were expelled from their homes during the German occupation of Poland. Only the German organized expulsions affected directly 1,710,000 Poles.[8] Additionally, 2.5 to 3 million Poles were taken from Poland as labourers to Germany to support the Nazi war effort.[5] These numbers do not include people arrested by the Germans and sent to Nazi concentration camps.[9]

It is story of WWII in Poland. You can't change it. Hoses stolen from the Poles were given for Germans. I have strange feeling that Germans try to make their history softer ... but if Germans had won ... some people on east would talk about place where I live like Crow about East Germany ... Accept your past as it was.

And?

/wiki/Nicholas_von_Renys

Nicholas von Renys (German: Nikolaus von Renys; Polish: Mikołaj z Ryńska; 1360 - 1411) was a secular Prussian knight during the Polish-Lithuanian-Teutonic War (1409-1411).

Nicholas von Renys was born at Rhein (Ryn) near Lötzen (Giżycko) in Prussia, within the komturship of Balga. Jan Długosz described him as a German (Nicolaus dictus Niksz, nacione Swewus) in his Banderia Prutenorum.[1] Stephen Turnbull identifies him as a "secular knight of Polish descent ... of the clan Rogala"

During the Battle of Grunwald in 1410, von Renys carried the banner of the Culmerland troops for the Teutonic Order, described in the Latin Banderia Prutenorum.[1] Unwilling to fight against Poland, he lowered the banner, which was considered a signal for retreat that contributed to the defeat of the Knights.

You would never had made a polish Prussia!

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lizard_Union_(medieval)

The Lizard Union or Lizard League (German: Eidechsenbund; Polish: Związek Jaszczurczy) was an organization of Prussian nobles and knights established in Culmerland (Chełmno Land) in 1397. Its declared goal was to combat lawlessness, although it discreetly sought the transfer of Culmerland from the Teutonic Knights to Poland.

Renys was executed by the Order after the war, causing the remaining members of the Lizard Union to flee to Poland.[2] The Lizard Union was declared illegal[citation needed] by Pope Gregory XII and Emperor Sigismund and was subsequently dissolved. However, it laid the foundation of the later Prussian Confederation, which requested the annexation of the Monastic State of the Teutonic Knights into Poland in 1454.

Well Crow maybe you should use soft power. Maybe you should rather go in positive direction in case of east Germany. What I mean ... information, make list of German names with were trasformed from Slavic version ... and inform this people that they weren't assimilated in firiedly way but by force.

All in all Germans want to build Europe of Regions and I see huge space for such iniciative in eastern Germany. Regional identity is stronger and stronger in modern europe. Why not in eastern Germany ? As I've said, everything in positive way using soft power.

History / Heretics Asylum - The First Republic of Poland [50]

read something before you calim such nonsense.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Execution_by_burning

In 1184, the Roman Catholic Synod of Verona legislated that burning was to be the official punishment for heresy, as Church policy was against the spilling of blood. It was also believed that the condemned would have no body to be resurrected in the Afterlife. This decree was later reaffirmed by the Fourth Council of the Lateran in 1215, the Synod of Toulouse in 1229, and numerous spiritual and secular leaders through the 17th century.

Civil authorities burned persons judged to be heretics under the medieval Inquisition, including Giordano Bruno. Burning was also used by Protestants during the witch-hunts of Europe.

I am not defending anny of the churches but simple motivate the people to use thier own brain ... not folow the teachings, so many times those teachings were so wrong... :-)

But here is point for Poland ... where burning at the stake wasn't popular in general... without looking on churches.

How about more simple solution, no redefinition and who reject the teachings stop call himself Catholic?

all in all people aren't burned at the stake in the name of Jesus,

;-)

it is good that Poles never cared to much about so called teachings of the church and buring at the stake wasn't popular. It is enought to have own brain.

Either you overvalue the power of the german culture or you totally dismiss the power of polish culture.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kulturkampf

Prussia's Germanisation policies in the Province of Posen mostly failed. Although most of the administrative measures aimed against the Poles remained in force until 1918, between 1912 and 1914 only four Polish-owned estates were expropriated, while at the same time Polish social organizations successfully competed with German trade organizations and even started to buy land from the Germans. The long-lasting effect of the Polish-German conflict in the area was development of a sense of Greater Polish identity, distinct from the identity common in other parts of Poland and primarily associated with nationalist ideas rather than socialism, prevailing in other parts of the country in the 20th century.

...

It is estimated that between 1.6 and 2 million people [9] were expelled from their homes during the German occupation of Poland. Germans after the war received what they asked for. Poker is poker and in my opinion thay paide little price for what they have done. If I were responisble ... I'd made holocaust for them as long as I am not very religous person.

So...who did the mysterious "germanizing" of the Germans? :):):)

Lets leave it for Crow.

Bismarck was right to try to break the catholics neck as he wanted to modernize Prussia!

Well result wasn't good as long as many Polish Protestants became Catholic - national ties were stronger than religous.

It was conquered territory which you held by force of arms and claims to ethnic majority which you yourself installed in a prolonged brutal process, pretty much the same as Wroclaw or Poznan.

Germans never been in majority in Poznań ...

What is more after 1918 ... there was no expulsions ... in revange for Germanisation ... after Hitler everyting changed, poker is poker, Germans wanted everything and lost a lot... still I don't understand why their allies got so much.

(It's nearly as funny as when Crow says Germans are germanized Slavs - still not saying who were these mysterious original "germanizers")

Well eastern Germans when we talk about the origin have some slavic blood the same as they have more Nordic blood than southern Germans...

Did they expell the Poles???

Yes

germanhistorydocs.ghi-dc.org/sub_document.cfm?document_id=1840

Bismarck's Kulturkampf ("cultural struggle") against the Catholic Church included - and at times appeared driven by - a determined effort to undermine Polish nationalism in Prussia's eastern provinces. The immediate context for this long speech was abrutal operation in March and July 1885 whereby 48,000 Poles and Polish Jews were deported from these provinces.

History / Poland: dont blame us its the Germans. [174]

Which to believe: official figures from the Polish government (i.e. 1,808) or unsourced numbers ("probably more than 50,000") from a website which anybody can edit?

You are liar ... because in source you used before ... sometimes you cn find statments that there is propably 500 000 of people with such origin but only 5000 claimed to be non Polish citizen of Poland. ... You manipulate ...

Poles needed space after being expeled form east... Germans invaded Poland and have done what they have done, with for example their Ukrainian allies... The fact is that people loyal for Poland (with German origin) weren't expeled.

Many left Poland long after the war (1970's) when many Poles were dreaming about drop of foreign blood to get pass and emigrate on west. It is well known fact.

I don't see Polish - Ukrainian case similar to Polish German one... read previous posts...

What is more 1 mln Germans left Poland in 1970's long after the war ... life in west Germany was better ... so economic situation in communist Poland regermanized them.

History / Poland and Ukraine [240]

Well Nathan can post stories about Cossacks ... but unfortunately they share Polish point of view on what happened in Lwów. He claims that because of short period between years 1918 - 1939 ... ukraine was exploated nad hadn't developed... I thought that it was the Austraians who occupied Lwów in whole 19 century and just after 1918 whole region started to develop.

He can post names of Polish murderes who he claimed to be Ukrainians in previous debates ...

Of course murdering of Poles, Armenianans, half-breed childs, Jews ... and Ukrainians who were against ethnic cleanisng or who intermarried with Poles ... using axes in capital punishment for being Jewish, Armenian, Polish or half breed child ...

This was caused by polonisation in years 1920 -1939 ... but Polish point of view is shared by half of Ukraine... who see them as Nazi collaborators... According to British historician Normad Davies they murdered 500 000 people...

as to education ... it is enought to listen their porfessors claiming that Czechs occupy Ukrainian Prague ...

I have nothing agains Ukraine being independent country. I just want to notice that they are not Polish protectorate ... they governthemsleves ... but I would be very carful with them.

Most Polish nobility mixed with population ... and simple durring communism this people haven't been murdered like in most other communistic countries. Most of them are simple citizens - and noble origin is just curiosity.

So, where are you from, Mr Darkman? Is it such a secret? :):):)

I am form Poland. Ile razy mam ci to powtarzać chłopcze.

Thank you for bringing up this song. I always liked it - crazily funny. Yes, Danzing and Russia Goodbye. :):):):):) But let me remind you that Poland is in European Union and NATO partnerships with Germany. :):):):) If Ukraine creates such partnership with Germany too, do you think it will sadden me? Of course not. I am not jealous... :):):):)

I support Polish membership in EU it doesn't change the fact that Germans don't care to much about Poland when it comes to central - eastern europe and their foreign policy here...

You can`t suppress my enthusiasm! :):):)

I am worried that Ukrainians will suppress it.

Nope. It was settled long ago that you are Russian! Stop these vain declarations!

I have to worry you but I am not Russian and I don't care about Ukraine. I'd say that sooner or later Poland is going to see that all projects planed with them were one big mistake ...

Nope! We will be partners. In united Europe.

In my opinion they will never be part of EU ... and not because of Polands "for or against" in this case ... but lets say that one day they would be part of EU ... I know whose the best friend they will be and for sure it will be not Poland.

Have you ever been to Russia ? In my opinion you should be very careful with name calling them ... what is more I am not from Russia but if I,ve been Russian and read all posts of people like you here ...

I just prefere Russians over Ukrainians ... what is more Russians don't have former colonial complex (what in Ukrianian case is very dangerous for us ...)

Btw ... I don't find Japan less developed than Poland ... Japan helped Poland so many times in the past ... be careful ... with your name calling

Nope! We shall never leave Ukraine! In good and bad times, Poland and Ukraine must keep together!!!

Well, lets agree to disagree ... I'd say that we should cooperate when it is needed, ... with Russia or with Ukraine ... but without dreams about commonwealth ...
