Life / What should I name my female child? [44]

I named my little girl Eva, and rather that pronounce it in the typically English way of Eeva, it is pronounced 'E'va, I also like the name Ranya, which I think is short for Renatta

Life / Do Poles Lack in Social Skills and Etiquette? [74]

I ask this question rather tentitively, as the Pole in question is my BF of 1 year. He lives here in the UK, and is the most loving, kind and gentle man.

However, we have never gone out on a date - ie. dinner, cinema. I'm working and earning a good salary, so would be happy to pay my way, but it just seems that all socialising goes on in the home.

He thinks it strange when I ask if he has ever dined out, or would he go out on a date, almost as if it simply isn't something he has ever done!!!

Your comments will be much appreciated!!

Language / Directory of Polish slang and common phrases [in Polish] [28]

Hmmmm, nice!!! he, he thanks for that buddy.

frd:
it means "a pussy", pipa/pipka/cipa/cipka are just nicknames for pussy and can all be used as an insul too - then it's a substitute for "bitch".

Can anyone think of any retaliation material? I don't want to cause upset or offence to my kochanie, but a little joking mockery, afterall he's just called me a 'pussy' - he, he!!

Does anyone know what pipa means!! It's obviously some kind of slang / joke that my BF is having with me. So far I can understand his jokes, but this one has got me!! He won't out fox the fox - he, he ;0)

Love / Polish woman and children [14]

[quote=Wroclaw]There are plenty Polish folk in second marriages or partnerships... and of those there are a good percentage with kids from the former marriage.

I agree with all the above posts too.

I totally agree with this statement. My polish BF is divorced with a child, his ex-wife had 2 children to a previous marriage. In fact most of my Polish friends living in the UK are either estranged or divorced - sad but true.

Food / Is it just me, or is the Polish diet rather unhealthy? [119]

It's really interesting to see where my post has lead to!

I merely posted this thread as someone who is very careful about maintaining a healthy weight, and excercising. I very rarely eat red meat, and always grill my food rather than fry it.

I very rarely eat pizza and junk food (maybe if i over indulge on the vodka!!), cook everything from fresh ingredients, as does my boyfriend. What I questioned was merely the method in which the polish cook - ie fry everything!! and the high fat content of all the extras, and lack of veggies!!

Food / Is it just me, or is the Polish diet rather unhealthy? [119]

My BF of 9 months often cooks for me when I go round to his place, but everything seems to be fried, covered in mayonnaise and just generally high in fat!

Also rather limited to pork and chicken - predominantly meat or protein based, but with little vegetables. Is this the norm? I often have to feign that I am not hungry, simply through fear of becoming the size of a house!! :-)

Love / Could our relationship work despite the language barrier? [34]

In response to LA girls message:-

You need to leanr Polish or forget about it. better off dating someone speaking your language.

That's a very cynical point of view. I'm currently dating a Polish guy and yes the language barrier and cultural differences can be trying at times, but love is love........

Love / Help, Polish men are very complicated! [51]

I think Polish guys are pretty damned complicated critters!!! or at least that has been my personal experience. I have been dating a Polish guy for the past few months, and I really never know what each day is going to bring - hot and cold, up and down!!!

That said, I have never felt like this with anyone before and despite the emotional rollercoaster, when it's good it's fantastic!!! Polish guys are hot, hot, hot!!!

Love / Why are polish men so damned complicated? [53]

You guys will never believe this........................... I have just managed to sit and talk to my guy, and he now tells me that it was all a joke - how bloody sick is that??? He didn't like the way I interact with one of the other guys at work and thought I was messing him around, so he made out he was having sex!!

He now tells me he loves only me, but I am mad as hell!!! I just wish I didn't have such strong feelings for him.

Love / Why are polish men so damned complicated? [53]

Probably not. It's just come as a real shocker!! Yesterday he was all over me, and today it's like a different guy. Bizarre!!!! The real pisser is he works for my Father, so I've got to see him at work everyday, and maintain my professionalism - roll on 5 o clock!!! I can't exactly tell my father he text me last night daddy while he was shagging some other polish bird can I - lol....I wouldn't risk his job.

Thanks sokrates - you really made me giggle for the first time today. I didn't realise how absurd my last post sounded!! what I meant was that i'm not a vindictive cow, and will not mix business with pleasure if that makes better sense.

Love / Why are polish men so damned complicated? [53]

Maybe you're right!! I know texting only complicates things more especially when he texts in polish, and my polish is far from perfect. i can only understand some of his texts and get 1/2 a story. It's been really good to get feed back on this matter, and I'm sure it has absolutely nothing to do with him being polish.

Love / Why are polish men so damned complicated? [53]

I really like this guy but am not so sure about what to do. My reaction may already mean it's over. Any advice as to how to proceed? My polish is terrible and I have no idea how to say that in future I do not want to hear about his other women. I guess what I dont know cant hurt me......:-(

Love / Why are polish men so damned complicated? [53]

It kind of helps. We are having a sexual relationship, but his take was that last night was not 'love' or 'gentle', just sex!! I am really confused. Can a line really be drawn between the two?

Love / Why are polish men so damned complicated? [53]

Of course!! I'm just completely baffled, as this is not the sort of behaviour I've ever come across before. I thought this guy was a true gent, and just wondered if I was missing some sort of cultural difference?
