News / Nobility / Aristocracy in Poland ? [92]

I thought all the French aristocracy were beheaded during the Napoleonic era.

All except Mr French Noble, from fantasy Island. I reckon he must to two hundred and five years of age, still it would be nice to know how he lasted son long!

"open a book of History"... there are still btw 2,500 and 3,00 noble

I do not deny this, however you are not one of them,

I have acquainted with the Potocka family in Krakow, she is a good laugh, and very very open.

They must have done something wrong, those noble aristocrats,
to **** people off that much LOL

With the British of course, we can never really forgive them. That is despite the fact that they speak a wonderful language, and could probably make any language sound great.

News / Nobility / Aristocracy in Poland ? [92]

Lexi there are 1,000's of ex-pats who have been living in France for years and we are still moving to France in our droves, so much for not liking the French! Oh just in case you didn't know French is the most popular language taken by GCSE students in England.

I never said I did not like the French, if you quote something of this nature please have the evidence to back it up. There is a huge difference between unforgiving and disliking something.

The majority of ex-pats live in France for the weather and the wine and very little else. Half of them don't even speak the French language, or they murder it.

The reason why French is "obligratory" in schools, is quite simple without it you cannot get into some of the best universities in the uk.

Food / baby food in Poland - culture differences in feeding babies. [23]

babies don't need any additional liquid besides breastmilk or formula.

Do you realise what a load of rubbish you "breast are best" people spout and how much damage you cause to peoples lives.

Go with the flow with your baby if they need more use formula milk . The most important part is to spend your time with your child and not stuff it off with a childminder, like many people do.

The child will remember being stuffed off with a childminder, but will forget totally being breastfed.

Life / So it's hit me too, isolation in Poland [46]

Poland's nowhere near that bad but I have found it helps if you approach and join, then folk will come up and make themselves known to you.

I found that also, you don't really have to speak polish, the majority of people speak english. I have been in many situations in Poland where the entire group are speaking English, even though they are Polish, to show their respect. I say to them it's okay speak in Polish I understand I just cannot speak back, but they never do, or if they do they say sorry, speak in polish and them someone translates it back into English.

People just like being around people similar to themselves and feel comfortable with no matter what the nationality is.

women would love to stay at home with their children, but there is a little thing call real life where we have to pay bills and feed and cloth children!

I thought husbands were responsible for this.

Really? hours of playing with other kids developing intersocial skills?

Hours of anxiety, waiting for their mothers to return and release them from this abandonment that they feel every day. Toddler groups, accompanied by parents are a perfect example to provide social interaction, secure in the knowledge that their mothers are supporting them.

"cut your cloth accordingly is what I say"

French is not obligatory in English schools

szarlotka, I do not want to fight with you, I think that you are quite a liberal minded person, but French is complusory, maybe because of the fact that they are our direct neighbours ,wether we like it or not! and secondly because it was a prerequisite to get into the best universities, this may have changed recently. Maybe someone on this forum has the up-to-date policy on the entrance requirements for Oxford and Cambridge.

Szarlota, university requirements on paper and" unwrittten codes" are as different as chalk and cheese. What these two universities proclaim to be acceptable, and what they accept differ tremendously.

Some traditional values never die in the uk ,as in any country it is because of this that England will always be classed as an eccentric country.

In my experience they would more likely use potential for making the college rowing team as a tie breaker!

Yes but if they had copious amounts of "college rowers for the next 2 years" the French speaker would get the placement.

Okay point taken, anyone can comment upon things they know nothing about which resullts in B... S.....

Espania I am not attacking you, I lived in your country for 5 years, I loved the people and still have friends there from way back. I just thought the video was really "way over the top", and domestic violence in any nationality is dreadful.

UK, Ireland / England, Dirty, Expensive and a dangerous place to live? [205]

I found it particular disturbing when a you boy is knifed by 3 black youths, all from unstable backgrounds, in an unprovoked attack in London. Uncontrolled immigration in this country is out of control, and gives a really bad name to the genuine immigrants who come here.

We have for years been a tolerant country, I really do not know how much longer this tolerance will last.

No It was not a racist attack by black people, it was an unprovoked attack by 3 black people from unstable backgrounds.

I mean it's predictable, as so many threads descend into racism and BS..:)

Okay, then we must identify why england has become dirty, expensive and a dangerous palce to live. Why do you think this, if indeed you do and indeed it has?

another tit! take her govno to random!

Gosh I wish I had two brothers with lst degrees, Phd's Cd's and Dvd's the list no doubt is endless. ShelleyS you must be so so proud!

As we like to say it's all relative J, you're average family is suffereing and struggling in the UK...Most young couples cant get on the property ladder and more and more houses are being respossessed because of the rise in utiltiy bills, interest rates and general day to day out goings...Why do you think the average family size for an English couple has shrunk from 3 kids in the 1970's to 1 in the 2000's?

I have to say one last thing before I leave this forum. This person speaks through her a..., just look at this quote and make your own opinion! Nothing to do with being over-committed before they took out a mortgage then ShelleyS! Edited

UK, Ireland / Friend told "just allow your son to forget Polish" by school. [96]

Supposedly if you speak a second language to your child they are likely to pick up on any mistakes you make. So it is better to speak your first language with the child.

Absolutely I agree with this. It is the same if a child has bilingual parents they must always speak their native language to them. ie if the father is spanish he should speak spanish and if the mother is english she should speak english to the child, that way the child learns each distinctive language properly.

I do not want to sound condecending but this is really best for child.
