Love / How to gain the attention of a Polish man? [71]

he is doing a tattoo for me

he seems impressed that i drew and designed my whole back piece!

So you have something in common and a topic of converstation.

without being obvious

I would just ask. You are going to chat while he is doing your tattoo, so I think it would be a normal to ask certain questions which will let you know if he is taken or not.

last session my male friend was with me too

He may have assumed he was your boyfriend.

he may even not like blondes

dont think you should worry about that.

Totally getting ahead of myself

relax, have fun and be yourself....nothing to lose :) go for it!!!

Life / More Polish supermarket griping...this time about customers [29]

lol.... Im going to try this one :)

It really annoys my friend if someone sits beside her on the bus where there are plenty of vacant seats. She starts talking to herself and twitching or scratching - it usually works - but I'm not going to try that one when I'm waiting in Tesco.

Does this courtesy occur in the rest of Europe

I think it has happened to me once.

Number one also an issue here too.

I dont know about Poland (yet) but it really annoys me when you are waiting in line and the person behind you is almost lying on top of you. Back off!!!!! it does not mean the line will move any faster!!!

UK, Ireland / Any Irish have child with Polish partners? [44]

I have concerns of how to raise him, do I send him to normal school,

Definitely, there are many children of different nationalities in schools in Ireland. My friend is a primary school teacher and her class is a mixture of all nationalities, she says that all the children get on really well.

Will kids here make fun of him because his name is different.

I don't think so. Its not that different.

Life / Life in Bydgoszcz [39]

I fear will get me nowhere in Poland.

I would not say that, just think about how you can apply your skills in different ways to work for you.

Life / Life in Bydgoszcz [39]

hey Dunc,

Im moving to Bydgoszcz in September. When I decided to move I was flexible about where to live. I tried every multi national company I could find but without any luck :(

I then decided to give teaching a go, I had given private lessons to exam students but that was about it, no other experience. I completed a CELTA course and while it's quite demanding I really enjoyed it. I think teaching is a good way to start, once you are there and settled you could then start to look at other options. What do you do at present?

Also I don't speak Polish, I have been taking lessons but as you will read on here, it will take more that a few lessons, for me the best way to learn is to be surrounded by the language.

Love / What are your views (or Polish views) on abortion? [102]

Abortion is not just about being married or not, I know of married couples who have had abortions.

Having a child requires a person to be responsible and to be able to provide an adequate life for that child - where there is support and security for that child.

Making abortion illegal will not make it go away, it will just push desperate people to do desperate things. Since when has forbidding anything meant it doesn't happen?

I am not against abortion. I believe it is a personal choice but it should not be abused.

Love / What are your views (or Polish views) on abortion? [102]

demand government (via other taxpayers) to finance this barbarity.

But if they become single mothers the state will also have to support them and over a longer period of time.....maybe this suits government?

Love / What are your views (or Polish views) on abortion? [102]

The Catholic faith teaches that premarital and extramarital copulation is a sin,

oh please and the people who teach this faith - Catholic priests - abusing young boys and having children with their housemaids!!! Great example

Love / What are your views (or Polish views) on abortion? [102]

to put your legs in the air,

and the men were happy enough to take advantage ;)

you were mature enough

Some are just children themselves and not mature.

look how many babies and young children are being abused and neglected and even murdered because somebody became a parent when they should not have.

I think it would be better if focus was on prevention or support, but in life not everything works like that.

UK, Ireland / Irish Primary schools to teach Polish [223]

Oh, and for my survey, what languages do you speak?

I speak no other languages (ok whatever Irish and French I learned at school and I'm learning Polish now) but I feel it is important to know as many languages as possible. It opens up more opportunities - trade and business is global and I dont think any language is not benefical to have when it can be used for such opportunities. I may not be as educated as you or speak many languages but I don't feel this makes my opinion any less valid but then I am just one of those normal average Irish citizens who is not happy with our situation but I see where the blame lies.

UK, Ireland / Irish Primary schools to teach Polish [223]

What are you doing to change it? Its all well and good to point the blame at Fianna Fail, the mass immigration party.

What am I doing to change it???? having an open mind and willing to accept the change that is needed, having my wages cut, paying levies, services decreased, - what are you doing? You want Ireland to be a little Island all by itself and you think that will slove the ****? How do you see your ideas improving Ireland?

Learning their native tongue,

How will that help all the children, who when they are old enough will leave this country? I agree we need to keep the language alive, but saying it is of use?

what do you mean?.

I mean its good for children to learn languages such as Polish for example....it may be more of a benefit to them in the future.

UK, Ireland / Irish Primary schools to teach Polish [223]

After the report today An bord snip nĂșa will make sure some of the children most in need of education will be at a disadvantaged....

This country is sinking and sinking fast!!!! It's a sorry state and the only people to blame is Government...

We need to think outside the box because as a country by itself Ireland is finished!

Life / why do People in Poland speak so quietly? [23]

Irish people speak very load, me included, in comparison to Polish people.

When I'm speaking with my Polish friends I usually have to raise my voice if I want to be heard, they all seem to speak so loud, but then I speak quietly.

Think it depends on what part of Ireland you are from, my friend is from Wexford/Carlow area and I can't hear or understand a word he says!

UK, Ireland / Polish man sought after murder of Irish man! [36]

The Irish government does not break down crime by nationality.

Ask yourself why........

mmmm probabaly because it would promote racism, nationality has nothing to do with the person who committed the crime, a criminal is a criminal wherever they are and wherever they are from.

Polish man burned for cans of beer
A Polish man who suffered serious burns in a random attack was targeted because he refused to hand over cans of beer to his attackers, it has emerged. The 35-year-old was walking along the Dock Road area of Limerick city at about 2am last Sunday when a car with three males inside pulled up and one of them asked him for a cigarette.

It does not just go one way you know! You can also read horrific stories of people of all nationalities committing crimes here....You are just focusing one aspect....problems like this, our economy, unemployment, etc happen for lots of reasons and not because there are Polish people living in our country.

UK, Ireland / Modern Plantation for Poles in Ireland [352]

[quote=RevokeNice]50,000(204 euro a week plus other assorted benefits) Poles on the dole here. 3,000 Polish families claiming rent allowance.

Knife crime is rife among the Polish community, every couple of weeks Poles murder Poles after a house party at the weekend.

Poles are our biggest ethnic group on welfare, again it does not break down fraud by nationality. Lets just say that a lot of the Poles emigrating here are not your average decent Pole you may find in Poland.

You can not claim welfare unless you have worked for a period of time and paid into the state.....therefore they have the right to the benefits available.

Every couple of weeks there is a murder at house party.....where is the evidence of this?

Do you have a problem with the Irish who fraud the system? I think you should have a problem with anyone who frauds the welfare system. Some people never bother to work a day in their life, Irish, and can claim welfare but you are ok to support these people? I think its worse.
