UK, Ireland / Polish girls 'too pretty' for British schools [150]

It is hard being very good looking. It is something I have had to accept as part of my life but gradually I have moved on and am living my life to the football in the acceptance that I am good looking.:)

Love / Why some of the polish girls look so cold but they are not? [16]

I dont think it is a case of being cold but more a case of shyness. I imagine you met her in a country different to that of her own. My girlfriend was different at the start but then you have to realise that women are genarly different in Poland. They behave much more elegant and dont normally sleep with guys the first time they meet them. So they have to think how an English girl behaves and is probably thinking is she behaving much differently. There is also the language difference which between 2 people isnt very bad but all around her every day she hears a different language so it may have been hard for her to feel comfortable. Anyway Polish women rock and they are very loving towards their men.

Life / Life in Bydgoszcz [39]

Hi I live in Torun which is next to Bydgoszcz. I also work every day in the town. I must be honest I havent really seen a lot of the town. My understanding is that it is a good twon. It has shopping a shopping centre and also cinemas etc. For a family of three it really depends on what sort of accomodation you will be looking for. Food wise i spend about 150zl a week (about 30pound). So its safe to say you can times that by three.

Also if you are going to live in Bydgoszcz I strongly recomend you get a car. Public transport isnt too bad but with the shopping centre being at the edge of the town its best not to be relying on buses to get your shopping back home.

I only hear things about Bydgoszcz from the people I teach. The adults seem to like it but the teenagers moan and say there is nothing to do. But I think that is the same for teenagers worldwide:) Feel free to email me any time Ill be happy to help. oliwerpalmer@yahoo.co.uk.

Ive been here about 5 months and im still loving it. If you need any help setting up I can help you I only live an hour away and like I said I have to go to work there nearly every day

Life / Life in Bydgoszcz [39]

best advice is to live in Torun. It has clubs pubs cinemas restaraunts etc. The town centre is nice and you can walk around the town at night. It is only 40 minutes to Bydgoszcz if you have your own car so you could have the best of both worlds.

Love / What makes Polish girls tick - or is it just women in general....:-) [64]

Well all I can do is wish you luck for the future and hope that he dies a really horrible and painful death

Thats really great. Wishing a man to die for deciding to start a new life. I had someone in my family murdered and I would even wish death on him.

I wonder if her company know that she is planning to leave for England, maybe you should email their personnel department and let them know what she has done and what she is planning to do - mail: biuro@vegex.pl .

Clap clap clap. I dont think that would be a good idea. The woman has not fallen in love and got pregnant to hurt jackson51. She doent even know the woman. I could understand doing something like this if it was a friend who had done this to her but still it seems a pretty low thing to do especially as she is will be bringing a new life into this world, she will need to be able to support that baby. Does the baby really deserve to be punished?

murdered and I would even wish death on him.

*Wouldnt*

sounds like a woman scorned. Yes youre right go out and ruin this girls life. Get her a bad reputation, ruin her chance of getting good CV's and therefore make life hard for her and her baby. Im sure that will make jackson feel better knowing that there id 1 more child growing up in the world in a bad situaton.

I didnt expect a man to be sympathetic to a story like this!

T no point have i said I dont feel sorry for Jackson loosing someone you love is a terrible experience, I know this. however I dont feel it is neccesary to wish death upon that man and then make a pregnant girls life difficult. I suppose it depends on your outlook on life

but jackson you cant spend your life hoping that the people who have hurt you will one day feel that pain. They didnt do any of this to hurt you. I know it hurts please believe me its not just amathyst who understands this feeling, but if you spend a long time wishing bad for other people it wont help you. In the future when you are getting over this you will see what I mean. Yes your husband is a bastard for doing this. I belive that if someone wants somebody else then out of respect to their partner they should explain things before doing anything. however when somebody wants something different it is inevitable that person will go.

if hed beeen a man with respect he would not of even mentioned she was pregnant, and that she was coming here. he is a coward and no relation to a man husband or father

I think if he had to tell you. Think how you would have felt if you bumped into them one day without knowing it could happen and saw that she was pregnant. Wouldnt you feel worse? The pain and suprise would be clearly visible to them and later you would feel worse that you had shown them this. At least now you have a chance to attempt to put on a brave face if you should ever bump into them,

Love / What makes Polish girls tick - or is it just women in general....:-) [64]

come on. this guy went away on business and met a young lady. What do you think the chances are of him tell her that he is married are. You previously mentioned the Polish views on marriage and breaking them up. Unless maybe he is an honest guy and did tell her. However I thought everyone was saying that this man is a pile of crap and isnt truthfull so if that is true I think he didnt tell this girl;

This lady Im guessing is in her late 40is and has just had her life devastated and you seem to think its okay.

I really cant remember saying anything like that. However i did try to explain that ruining the girls life and wishing death on the guy wouldnt help :) The only person i have really tried to defend is the girl. After all he is the one that has made a lifelong promise to someone else. If she knew then it is very bad what she has done , but at the same time one glance at a wedding ring should be enough to resist temptation.

Life / Help... only 14 or 15 more weeks to relocate to Poland! [6]

Well if you are looking for a quick way to get a job teaching English is a good idea. There is a course called Callan, it seems to be very popular in Poland and most schools will take you without having a qualification. Its very easy to teach and is a good starting base. You would be surrounded by Polish people all the time and although you would be speaking English mainly they can tell you translations, you can chat during the lunch breaks and also talk with the other teachers. There are may of these schools located over the country Ill post a website that has most of them for you

UK, Ireland / New BBC series following the lives of immigrants is looking for people [49]

What about an Englishman living in Poland? Try to look outside the box here. An Englishman madly in love with his Polish girlfriend moves to Poland, gets a job , finishes with girl then uncovers a plot by one of his fellow teachers to take over the world. It is the Englishman alone in a foreign country trying to save the world(and also having problem making the girl from telepizza understand my address, stupid girl) Sweet Jesus I have just thought up an idea for a film.

Yes ok Bart I will accept the BBC's funding for this project but only as a personal favour to you. You seem like a good guy, also you have the name of my favourite charachter in the Simpsons. With your cash and my plot we will rule the world.

Work / Living In Torun, have no TEFL or CELTA; help me Im getting desperate [26]

Oh bugger. Well I dont have much chance of meeting them, if there are any, when admin is merging my posts into ones that dont have much relevance:(

----

Well, if all users wanted to ask detailed questions about the Polish place they live at, it woudn't be very practical. So far you created topics about:

- Chinese Restaurants in Torun,
- Polish lessons in Torun,
- Want to meet a British in Torun,
- Want to learn Polish in Torun,
- Want to find a teaching job in Torun,
- Want to get tips on living in Torun

Perhaps it would be better to find a website that specifically covers Torun area?

Language / Example differences between Polish and English [30]

Work / Living In Torun, have no TEFL or CELTA; help me Im getting desperate [26]

Hi, my name is Michelle. I left England to be with my boyfriend and have been living here in Torun for just over a month. I know the feeling of not having a job and im going crazzzzyyy!! I also don't have any teaching qualifications and would like to give this teaching a go. So you're not the only Brit; i miss little things about England, but I know that it wouldn't be easy to leave Torun. Glad it's working out for you. If you know of any contacts in this field, I would really appreciate any help or advice. Thanks.

Well with no Teaching qualifications the best way for you to go is the Callan method. Most schools will take you without a course , so it is possible to get a job quickly sometimes. My school is full at the moment but the other native speaker is leaving in July so I will mention it to her. In the meantime I will email you a list of schools that teach Callan in Poland:)

Life / Getting new passport for stolen/captured passport [9]

You dont need to call the Police. If the passport really is safely in the hands of the family then there is no problem about getting it replaced, just tell the authorities it is lost. Its very very easy to replace and im sure she knows where she can get it done. Good luck
