Real Estate / Real Estate hits a new low in Poland [86]

That means some people are speculating, and then others starts to speculate. If they speculate positive then the price goes up, and if negative then it goes down.

History / Targowice and Bar Confederations [34]

The only thing the Polish Magnates cared about was the money. A Polish state never existed, it was just an illusion. The Polish magnates made the biggest business empire of its time, and made up their own rules and choose their own kings. It actually reminds me how WTO (World Trade Organization) works.

And if you think Poland died with the partition of Poland you'r wrong. The polish Magnates just grew in power and gained more land. Believe me when i say that Russia/Austria/Prussia were the biggest asslicker of the polish magnates, the magnates had more privileges then the rest of the nobility inside these countries, the monarchs even gave the magnates titles just to make sure the magnates would sponsor them when they were broke as usual.

Of course Poland had it's "Patriots", but remember one thing folks. Cash is king!!

News / No Way, No Apology! Poland has every right to support Georgia! [115]

Seriously Rofl.

Ukraine got debts on over 2 bilj dollar to Russia for the gas.

Belarusia didn't agree to pay the same as the rest of Europe, they paid like 1/3 of the gas price same goes to Ukraine.

Georgia is discriminating russians and other people who are not "Georgians". Georgia was killing a lot of civilians with impunity by using rocket launcher and heavy artillery. During one night they have completely destroyed the capital of S Ossetia and killed around 2,000 out of less than 100,000 living in the region. Russia tried to stop the use of force by Georgia through UN but with no effect, to stop the fighting they have moved in with tanks. As of Russia had laid out their demands to Georgia, pull out all military forces in the region and sign a legal agreement not to invade S Ossetia in the future.

The Chechen Republic
The only reason Chechenya broke out from Russia was because of the greedy rich people who wanted the oil and gas for themselfs.

News / No Way, No Apology! Poland has every right to support Georgia! [115]

Don't believe everything media says about Russian.

Russia had reasons to cut of Ukraines gas, same with Belarusia.

Russia had reasons to invade Georgia and The Chechen Republic.

The only reason Poland dont want Russia to have a pipeline that got direct acces to Germany, is because Poland would't benefit on the transit taxes.

Life / How do Polish people view themselves? [92]

@MareGaea

The Polish people has been superior in many ways for a long time. like 400 years ago we were one of the largest country in the world and had major impact on the European Culture and economy. And our Nobility was by far the richest nobility in Europe. At that 1 point 5 of the richest Noble families in Poland had more land then whole france. But that's the past, but we still have the proudness in our blood i guess. We are a proud people with a rich History.

History / Should we use original name of Berlin - "Kopanica" [103]

@Wroclaw
It is foolish to even reconsider Wroclaw to be "German" settlement. It were build by the Czech "Slav" Wratislaus I. Wroclaw were ruled by Slavs until the 1740's and then passed to the prussian king.

During the War of the Austrian Succession in the 1740s, most of Silesia was annexed by the Kingdom of Prussia. Prussia's claims were derived from the agreement, rejected by the Habsburgs, between the Silesian Piast rulers of the duchy and the Hohenzollerns who secured the Prussian succession after the extinction of the Piasts.

@Prussia
Prussians are Proto-Balto-Slavic, they have nothing to do with with the germans. The Polish Duke invited The Teutonic Order to defend his borders and subdue the pagan Baltic Prussians. The Order invited germans to their newly founded lands to help them in the Crusade against the Prussian pagans, after a while the germans settled down there for good and assimilated with the prussians and the poles (both slavs). When the prussians got tired of the "german" order they made an revolt and joined the Polish forces against the german order and threw them out of the Prussian Lands and became Polish fiefs. And the germans who had settled there with the Order stayed in Poland and became loyal tax paying citizents for centuries.

@Aristocracy
The Aristocracy were not for everyone in Poland. The Aristocracy were the upper class that held the power in Poland. The Polish magnates were members of the Aristocracy they owned most of the land in Poland and ruled their lands like small kings. The Polish king had almost nothing to say to the polish Magnates how they should rule their estates, but ofcourse the Magnates did pay taxes and all that but they had priviliges that the normal noblility didn't have (Paid less taxes and so on).

To be continue...

History / Should we use original name of Berlin - "Kopanica" [103]

@Berlin

* 98 AD: Tacitus described the territory of Germania. What is now Berlin, in ancient times was well outside the frontiers of the Roman Empire. Germanic tribes then inhabited the region. During the post-Roman Migration Period, they departed for other lands, probably to become part of the new ruling class in the invaded areas of the western Roman Empire.
* 6th century onwards: Slavic peoples from the east start moving into the sparsly populated area between the Elbe and Oder rivers.
* About 720: Two Slavic tribes settled in the Berlin region. The Hevelli settled on the river Havel with their central settlement in Brandenburg, which gave the name for the whole territory. The Sprevane settled close to the river Spree in today's district of Berlin-Köpenick.
* About 750: The Hevelli founded Spandow (today's Spandau) on the river Havel. This seems to be the closest settlement to the area which is today known as Berlin...

@About all "Germans" who lived in Poland.

Maybe they were "Germans", but they were migrating from Germany to Poland for a reason ( Same with the jews ). After a while the only thing that divided them was their surnames. the second generation of germans became poles.

@Bratwur~~

I suppose you are from Silesia and think you are German ( maybe this is not the case ), but lets get this straight about Silesia. Silesia were ruled by the Polish line of the Piast Dynasti. Silesia were a part of the Holy roman Empire, but under the Polish Piast dynasti. They paid taxes to the Holy roman emperor but had their relatives in Poland. The majority of the population were of Polish "slavic" origin. Because of all these factors Poland never had a war with the Holy roman empire.

@ Poor poor poles

Just to make it clear about the poles and Europe. Poland had about 40 princely houses ( Families who had the right to use the title prince), they were called the small kings of Poland because of their wealth and the huge estates they owned. Aloot of them invested in huge palaces throughout Europe. This was almost Impossible for the nobles in the rest of Europe, because their kings owned most of the land and palaces. The king did only lend out his palaces to the "loyal" families in his kingdom and could take them back whenever he wanted to.

Just a small example.

The Palace who were later made to The Reichstag building in Berlin were a Property of the Polish Count Athanasius Raczynski.

Another Palace owned by Prince Antoni Henryk Radziwiłł were sold to Otto von Bismarck who made it to the "Reich's Chancellery".

Thats all for now :P

Life / Deadly Roads - "Are polish roads really THAT dangerous?" [139]

Hahaha have anyone drived in zakopane in the winter? most dangarous place on earth to drive a car would be zakopane for sure. Nobody there gives a f**k to put any salt or anything on the roads, and its so icy that you actually can ice skate on the roads with your car.

Well it was kinda scary when we were driving on a snaky road downhill and met another car on the opposite side, well we survived but still...

History / It's a shame that we poles arent making this kind of movies anymore. [8]

Im almost abit ashamed that we poles arent making historical movies like this one. Seems like the russians and ukrainians cares more about the polish history then we do.

Resently we only made the movie "katyn" were we blamed everything on the russians, while the russians have made several movies about our shared history.

This historical epic is based on "Taras Bulba", one of Nikolay Gogol's most famous stories. The events of the Zaporozhskaya Sech harken back to the most troubled period in Cossack history - the struggle with the Rech Pospolitaya. The family of Cossack leader Taras Bulba finds itself at the centre of turmoil and political intrigue which threaten the existence of the Cossack race. The plot thickens when Bulba's son Andrey falls in love with a Polish princess and wants to abandon the Cossacks. Torn between family and duty, Taras Bulba reveals to his son the dying wish of his parents...

Real Estate / Polish palaces for sale - Is this a scam site? [9]

I was thinking to buy me a palace in Poland and settle down there for good. But it is really hard to decide where in Poland i want to live, and how much i should spend on it. Plus i dont know what the average value/price is in Poland for this kind of properties.

I guess it's pointless to even contact the agent group on this website because the site seems to be inactive...

History / Potoccy Magnate Family in Politics and History [23]

Wow your ancestor Stanisław Szczęsny Potocki had like 20 children. I bet it is more then 10.000 people who can trace back their roots to him. You should make some kind of website where everyone who can trace back their roots to him could gather and maybe meet in real life and have a some kind of festival?

Dont know if it would be so popular to throw a party to honor Stanisław Szczęsny Potocki in Poland, but i guess the russians would't have a problem with it.

History / Question of Race Hygiene in Third RP [72]

It's quite sad to see lost russians fight in a polish forum and spreading propaganda. You belive yourself to be smart and having fun playing some sort of psychiatrists, but in reality you just make a fool out of yourselfs and give a negativ signal about russian people by the way you act.

History / What was poland's best epoch in history? [26]

David do not know even his own history. The first signs of decline in Poland had been detected obviously with first elected king, at the end of sixteenth century.

Maybe you should read a little more Polish history from other authors then russian ones who got their degrees from a russian communist school?

100 years earlier.

When you write it in english, 1701-1800 becames 18th century. Or maybe you mean the Polish Decline begune in the 17th century already? :o
