Love / Where did you meet your Polish other half? [33]

I met the ex in a place of work. But there may be a possible current who I met in a pub/club. And another "almost" that I met in a laundrette.

UK, Ireland / Polish girls in England. [33]

hahaha. It was working untill I realised Joe is a c*unt :-)

Always good to notice that relatively early...after marriages and kids it can be a bugger of a thing to realise.

Feedback / Font Size at the top, has it got bigger? [5]

Yeah, I probably am, I am looking at getting a kicking from a big Polish dude and am trying to think of funny ways to go about it. So yeah, bonkers!

I see the bottom is bigger yes :)

Feedback / Font Size at the top, has it got bigger? [5]

That's good, I thought I may have been going insane. But that means if the font is bigger, then my toe really is blue...i may need to put on some warm socks :S

Feedback / Font Size at the top, has it got bigger? [5]

Is it just me being thick, or did the font size for the bit at the top (you know the one, the bit that has your private mail and all that stuff) get bigger and change slightly?

Law / Opening Kebab shop or Malaysian restaurant in Poland? [71]

If it's open, are you still sticking to traditional recipes? I know a lot of places open in Glasgow and withing a week are serving the same rubbish as chinese take-aways. If it is a proper malay restaurant then I will be there with bells on.

Infact, stick me up a few satays and a decent rendang and I'm yours!

Love / Boyfriend wants to move us to Poland but I don't speak Polish. [32]

I am actually finding Polish easier to learn than Gaelic...but then Polish is a language which, even in a small town in Scotland, I use every day. Gaelic I only would use if I turn on the BBC at the wrong time, want to pronounce a certain whisky properly or want to live in the outer hebrides (and really, who wants to do that?).

Love / Depression and Polish Men [30]

I agree, your family and friends saying that's normal for a Polish person is as useful as saying it's normal for an Indian. If you are in love with someone then no matter where you come from you get quite down.

News / Non-Polish members - what knowledge does your country have about Poland? [35]

I personally didn't know much about Poland before I came. I wouldn't say I was ashamed about the fact. I couldn't tell you much about France, Germany or Spain either. But then I grew up in the Middle East and South East Asia so all my schooling and friends came from that part of the world. I would not call myself ignorant because I was willing to learn and almost annoyed my friends to the level of insanity with my questions. But I still went to Poland with little knowledge of the traditions or customs.

So yeah, I knew bugger all but learned because I wanted to. I had a depressing conversation with a 15 year old girl today in the shop who has 2 polish people in her class at school and she was going on slagging off all Polish people about how they are coming here and stealing all our jobs and basically reciting the daily mail...is that what they are teaching in schools and homes these days?

Life / Culture Shock Since Moving to Poland - Anybody Dealt With This Before? [52]

I actually found Poland a very easy place to adjust to even though I never spoke the language. Most people I met were keen to practice their english and teach me polish. The only thing I found (which eventually drove me home) was that I was paying near UK prices for things...but being paid less than a quarter of my UK wage (which was not that high to begin with over here). However I learned from that mistake and so am going to be moving back after summer to gain a more high paying job.

But yeah, about the "trying to live like a brit in Poland" thing, it really doesn't work. The only people I know who have tried hate the place. Anyone else who embraced the culture and saw meeting someone from the UK or Ireland as a pleasant release loved the place and never wanted to leave.

Life / Question for British Ex-Pats in Krakow [18]

Irish Mbassy

Although in the Mbassy you are more likely to meet tourists rather than expats so much, and it is very much the plastic paddy bar you said you don't want. I always went into Nic Nowego...always a good spot, and it's more just like a bar in Ireland rather than an irish bar.

Love / My polish ex threatens to commit suicide after separation [62]

True. To cut your wrists correctly one needs to sever the tendons. If you manage this with the first cut then switching hands is impossible because you have no grip.

Thank you, that was the point i was trying to make earlier. One wrist will not kill you, it takes (on average) 13 hours to bleed from a single wrist...by which time that wonderful thing called clotting kicks in.

Food / Where to buy Cheddar in Warsaw? [57]

Sure is that. That's my mum's favourite cheese. I like my cheeses a bit stronger if I am going down the blue route, Lanark Blue is particularly nice.

I went through a cheese obsession a wee while back...this link is a good reminder of that:

Weren't you downing yourself before as having no common sense, Cardno? You seem to have plenty.

Hahaha, I have plenty when I can take an outsiders perspective. Zilch when it comes to dealing with myself...hence launry girl, ex girl, etc threads...

Food / Where to buy Cheddar in Warsaw? [57]

Oh yes, especially if you keep it in the wee wooden box, put in some cloves of garlic and bake it in the oven for a bit and voila...you have the unhealthiest but tastiest dip ever :D

Food / Where to buy Cheddar in Warsaw? [57]

That's very true, if you can't afford good cheese then don't eat cheese.

And get that brie out of the fridge in a paper bag and up high in the kitchen (that way it doesn't smell so much) and you will have it ripe in no time.

I love a really good brie, the kind you need a spoon to eat and you can smell from miles away!

Food / Where to buy Cheddar in Warsaw? [57]

I actually posted that only to annoy you haha

There used to be a great cheese shop in Glasgow right next to Clatty Pats in the West End which was amazing, but sadly it closed down while I was in Poland.

Love / My polish ex threatens to commit suicide after separation [62]

Let's look at it from an outsider with no feelings for this girl. The chances of someone going through with that is little to nothing and if they do then they obviously had much bigger problems than just you breaking up with them.

I wouldn't worry about it too much mate, chances are this will come to nothing.
