People meet their future spouses or long term partners in a variety of places so please vote in the poll and tell us where you met your Polish other half. :)

If there's a story to tell, then share it with us! :)

heck, why not.
a half is a half, even if it's a quarter, like in some Muslim countries.

I met the ex in a place of work. But there may be a possible current who I met in a pub/club. And another "almost" that I met in a laundrette.

At the Polish Home at a dance. Love at first sight. Went with my Polish friend and she of course new him. The whole Polish community by the next day knew that he had met an American. He called the next day @ 10am and had a date that night. Happily married and have two beautiful children. Must be the Polish/American genes...Smart too!

Interesting. A planned meet or not?

Love at first sight.

And still together too. Great story. :)

Often the match-makers are the ones who go without. ;)

Funny but I have thought about starting this thread one day. :):)

It was in 1995, she worked as an assistant in her brother`s photographic shop. I visited it to develop photos. When I saw her, I knew she was the one. So I asked her out for a pizza after work. At first she refused, claiming she was tired. Later I found out she looked through my photos to learn sth about me. The review of photos helped (I used to drive a vintage car whose photos I needed to develop then) and the next week when I asked her out she complied.

Today we are happily married and have a bunch of children.

Don`t be ashamed to cry reading this story ..... :):):):):)

not planned. it was our first meeting... sort of bumped into each other.

First Polish ex, i met at work. I was her boss, we used to sneak around like little kids. I moved in with her after two weeks, lived together for a few years, now we are good friends.

I'll tell you that the idea came to me today in a supermarket. I met a couple, guy was Scottish and the girl Polish. I didn't ask them how they'd met but it did set me off thinking. :)

I've gone through a box of tissues reading it. ;) It's a lovely story and thank you for sharing. :)

Ah so it was a chance meeting. If you'd not bumped into each other you might never have met kind of thing?

They eventually both got married to other people. Her, to a Polish Sailor / Software Engineer, him to a Polish Dental Hygenist (he is Portuguese BTW).

I met my Polish girlfriend at Covent Garden Station at 8:09 (she was 9 minutes late) on 22 February 2008.

We agreed to meet courtesy of some random correspondence on Facebook. I did not know her in any capacity prior to then!

It's a funny old world, and I no longer have a Fcaebook account!

Met my polish g/f in a bar in Poznan. I was on a 'cultural' weekend with work friends and she was visiting relatives and attending an ATB concert the night before.

I was knackered after crappy weather, walking around Poznan and heavy drinking the previous nights and my friends convinced me to go to 'just one more bar'. There she was with her sisters and friends celebrating a birthday. Have known her nearly 2 years now and she has moved to England to be with me, so alls good! :-)

I've told this story on here before I think, but it makes me smile so I'll tell it again. I met my (scottish wife) around five years ago when we worked together. I spoke no English and she spoke no Polish, and I had to ask a friend to ask her out for me. Going on dates I would take my phrase-book/dictionary and would pain stakingly look up ever single word!! we've now been married almost a year and can thankfully communicate without too much trouble!!

since i'm single right now, i can only relate to the most successful relationship that i've ever been to, which lasted 4 years. i met the girl online, on a now not existing Odigo IM client. great times, which i do miss from time to time, but i'm actually happy to be single (and have been for the past few years).

There was a burning building.
I heard a young child crying out, but no one was there to help just a bunch of panicing women and some girly-men.

I knew only I could fix this situation.
I ripped off my t-shirt and selflessy ran into the burning building.
There was a big metal door, which I tore down with my bare hands. Then there was a backdraft.
Flames belched forth and licked my eyebrows clean off.
I put my own safety last and ran to the baby.
A pillar collapsed behind me and my exit was blocked, so I grabbed the baby and hurled it forth from the window, into a deep pond. The baby was saved.

My exit was blocked and with nowhere to run, I collapsed from all the Carbon Monoxide and nearly died from smoke inhalation.

She was the paramedic in the ambulance that treated me.
She was the first sight I saw when I came back to consciousness.
I thought she must be an Angel!

(Caveat Emptor: Nobody told me about the part where Angels try to rob large quantities of money from your bank account)

I met my Polish boyfriend while I was working in a factory. I thought he was a lorry driver at first and not a work colleague (i was new). The more we worked together and spoke the more I liked him. I liked helping alot with his English and we would talk for hours. Our first meeting outside of work was a day at the beach, just as friends. It was a brilliant day, even though we were involved in a car crash. We spent a few hours on a hill looking at the view and then he kissed me. We then drove home very quickly and finished the day as a bit more than friends! ;) :D We've been together a year and 3 months! :)
