History / Panslavic vision of Poland. [32]

Or should I say a Russian vision of Poland ?

ste-pan.livejournal.com/169039.html

Look at this map - a poster printed on behave of Russian panslavists on the Eve of of Romanoffs' Empire total collapse .
Greater Serbia and even some tiny Czech Republic are given independent existence.
But not Poland.
Poland should expand Westwards what finally happened 1945 but only as an autonomic part of Russia.
I have not enough time and English language skills to translate the Russian text.
But believe me - hipocrysy second to none !

History / Panslavic vision of Poland. [32]

you've broadcast quite similar stories about "friends from mongolian steppes" coming regularly to your dreams at least since 2003

Oh well ... does it makes my stories less true ?

under the protection of Russia

You obviously still don't believe we don't like any kind of Russian protection ?
On the contrary according to the polls about 80% Poles are for the NATO membership.
Take it for granted no anti-US revolt in our future lol.

As for the average Russian attitude towards Poland:
Once my Russian friend ( or something like that) asked me - why the hell you always looked for some independent Poland ?
You are welcome as a part of our empire !

You didn't like Soviets

I do not like Russian imperialism and just referring to the map makes a good example of it.
Tiutchev wanted Russia to the Elbe river, those panslavists to Oder only but the general approach has not changed at all, be it Romanoffs, be it Stalin or Putin.

Only your possibilities are not the same anymore.
Look at your ex-Soviet neighbors - they are running away from you but you're still dreaming your imperial dreams.
Ehhh..

What makes you feel it stays the same?

I’ve got my hair, got my head
I’ve got my brains, got my ears,
I’ve got my eyes, got my nose
I've got my radio and TV and my internet acces as well...

But it's enough to quote this posting one can see under the map:
Но в общем хорошая карта, к этому и надо стремиться.

I know your people and I know your country.
No need to name "personalities" like Dugin, Natalia Narochnitskaya, Muchin etc.etc.
But don't tell me they are not the mainstream of Russian politics or history.
Neither was Lenin.

Kostik, according to my best knowledge I'm Polish.
I'm busy now but one day I have to visit Mother Mary of Czestochowa in order to thank I'm not Russian.
Actually my family was close to rusification.
But it's a long story.

News / Polish politician thrown off Lufthansa plane. Just enjoy. [60]

Polish politician Jan Maria Rokita had an argument with a stewardess on board a Lufthansa plane waiting to take off from Munich airport. The incident occurred Tuesday, when the former parliamentarian allegedly pushed aside a stewardess who had repeatedly asked him to fasten his seat belt.

After his vehement refusal to comply with the demands of the stewardess, the pilot reportedly expelled the 49-year-old.
Police escorted Rokita off the Lufthansa plane in handcuffs.

Rokita's voice as recorded with mobile:

Some remarks.

1. If we really have some issues with Germany then we should use diplomatic channels for bilateral talks first.
It would be the best solution but of course we know all the way to Brussels.
Any action based on lamentable performance of this clown will be from the very beginning a failure - take it for granted.
Lufthansa is a highly professional company and can easy prove Rokita's complains groundless.
As they really are.

2. Personally I'm deeply ashamed I was ready to accept Rokita as our "prime minister from Cracow" - I guess you remember it.

One of the readers' comments
"Two conflicts for xxx thousands Polish customers ..."
Personally I don't know - I used to fly with Lufthansa but my German is rather good and I'm not a troublemaker at all.

History / UPA - Ukrainian Insurgent Army. How they killed poles in Volhynia (1943). [139]

They speak ukrainian only being drunk.

No Kostik.
They are friendly people.
They use Russian only because of me but sooner or later they get tired lol.

Oh, what a touching prospect Pole and Ukrainians are brothers forever!

Oh I see some poor Russian heart bleeding of jealousy !

History / UPA barbarian murders on Polish and Jewish neighbors during WW2 [150]

Let Russia work with its problems and Ukraine - with its own.

Polish historian Pawel Jasienica said in the late fifties
"We have to stop deliberations which lands in the East are more Polish or more Russian and get used to the fact they are Ukrainian."

And we did it.
But not our Russian neighbors.
They still prefer old fairy tales of "Malorossiya".

Well, well, well Mr "good policeman" (Sasha).

Let us look at some very similar issue for a while.
Reading old commie books on the Warsaw 1944 Uprising you're gonna find an obligatory information on "Ukrainian" butchers committing the worse crimes on civilians, raping even kids and killing wounded AK soldiers.

It was a common propaganda standard of the Polish NKVD branch and quite successful I have to admit.
Even today some people use to believe this lie.

But you know Sasha the times they are a-changin'.
Today historians have a perfect knowledge of auxiliary troops' ethnic composition - Russians and some Russified Belorussians.
With names and all personal records of more than 10000 killers who later joined the Vlasov Army.
The only Ukrainian unit (400 troops) so called Volhynian Legion was withdrawn after one week from Warsaw.

Generally Soviets were never whitewashing RONA or ROA leaving this noble job to "white" emigres.

So what was the reason for this misinformation if not strengthening of thePolish-Ukrainian hatred ?
And that is why I can easy believe in Soviets "playing" UPA.

Law / Applying for Russian VISA in Poland [7]

James I suggest to contact: kalinka.pl/?id=oferta/wizy

It's an excellent tourist office for the ex-Soviet Union.
Not very expensive and they will do all what possible.
However I'm not sure about their English language skills.
Their Russian was good enough lol.

History / Roman Dmowski- Polish Adolf Hitler? [219]

Lots of stereotypes in your postings.

Yes, Dmowski was talented and successful politician and statesman.
But he had definitely some limits.

1. Unable to deal with minorities' problem in Poland - it refers not to the Polish Jews only but to Ukrainians or Germans as well.

2.On the contrary to Pilsudski he obviously underestimated the Russian (not even to mention Bolsheviks!) threat to Poland.
For that reason Russian historians consider him to be pro-Russian what is BS.

3.Yes, he was antisemitic but not even to compare with Hitler.
He always tried to prove his anti-Jewish rants were of purely political nature.
First you read his books published as Kazimierz Wybranowski no doubt about Dmowskis' true feelings towards Jews.
However not the hitlerites' type "untermensch" craze.
Rather dangerous and very smart enemy.

History / Roman Dmowski- Polish Adolf Hitler? [219]

the german forces didn't conquer most of Europe because of him but rather inspite of him!

At least very close to his opinion (Europe at war 1939 - 1945)

History / UPA barbarian murders on Polish and Jewish neighbors during WW2 [150]

Maybe it's time for you Poles to reject your own imperialism and acknowledge that "Polska od morza do morza" was no better than "Deutschland über Alles" or "velikaya Rossiya" and that it was your ancestors who laid the foundation for Polish-Ukrainian conflict?

Nice try to compare some acient Polish dreams (unknow to the great majority of Poles living today) with Russian chauvinistic craze of "Velikaya Russiya" what is ABC to every Vanya from Tambov to Vladivostok.

Is like granting the same political value to Ilya Muromets and Stalin.

History / Stolen hero of the forgotten war. [52]

Nicolai Gogol is a pride of Ukrainian literature being at the same time one of the greatest Russian language writers.

Vladimir Bortko, Moscow born film director (known in Poland for his filming of Bulhakov's Master and Margareta or The Dog's Heart) decided to make a new adaptation of Gogol's "Taras Bulba".

The decision was taken in the good times of oil boom and growing Polonophobic hysteria in Russia.

I like Bortko's movies.
I even do like his frankness in promoting anti-Polish and anti-Ukrainian views.
"It should be patriotic movie presenting the Russo-Ukrainian unity.
Everybody should remember we are one people even when living in different countries."

What the hell has in common Russian chauvinism with the never ending Polish-Cossack conflict ?
Perhaps the only common denominator is Russian oppressor who destroyed both Poland and Cossack Sech.

Political views of Gogol were influenced by Russian Slavophiles and "Taras Bulba" hardly makes some nice picture of Poles.
But as long it's used in order to show part of our history (even its "Ukrainian version") I have no problems at all.

The fictive case "Bulba" was quite possible in reality.

Bortko's adaptation is manipulated to create an old and well known message:
only Russian protection makes Ukrainians really free !

PS. Interesting reaction of some Russian on "Taras Bulba" movie forum.
"Ukrainians as a nation were invented by Polish imperialism."

He doesn't write in Ukrainia

Since when the language we use determinates our nationality, Sasha ?
Even today offsprings of my Ukrainian friends (you will call them Baderovtsi or Mazepintsi LOL) prefer to speak Russian because of the Russian TV, school, environment etc.

But better don't try to call them Russians !

Similar goes for Irish culture and literature in English.

There's no Polonophobic hysteria in Russia

"Polonophobic hysteria" is just my rhetoric but in general our contacts are rather "cold".
I mean the political level and not the Vania to Janek relationship.
Simple your elite has problems with accepting Polish support for Ukraine in NATO and EU.
It seems to be the main issue.

you could easily see how unpolitical he had been

Agreed but again, some Slavophiles were his close friends and Taras Bulba hardly makes a monument to the Polish-Ukrainian brotherhood.

But yes the easiest way to explain this World is to look for "Russian chauvinists"

Definitely, given our geographical location and political position.

History / Stolen hero of the forgotten war. [52]

How can he be the pride of Ukrainian literature while not having a line in Ukrainian in his most famous stories?

Russian is being used (according to different sources) by 30 -50% of Ukrainians as their native tongue.
Are you trying to say all their contribution to the science, literature, politics are Russian achievements ?!

It's like suggestion there is no Irish literatur because Joyce or Yeats weren't using Gaelic LOL.

Now, when the american missle shield turned into illusion

I'm really sorry Kostik, to disappoint you LOL.
In todays Polish daily Gazeta Wyborcza newest report from construction site in Slupsk.
'Missile Shield' project is being run without any delays so don't get that exited, my friend.
Only this thread does not make too much sense.

Despite the ambiguous statements about Barack Obama's missile defense work in Slupsk going as if nothing had happened . Americans are doing database design , MON took over the land on which it is built , are built around the way

The President of the United States said last Sunday in Prague that the missile shield could affect the suspension of Iran 's nuclear program .

Five days before the onset of Slupsk was vice-ambassador of the United States Pamela Quanrud . Informed local authorities that the United States does not forgo investment and the future looked terrain database ...
