Life / Black people in Poland [357]

If we all intermingle we will have one race and one culture. Boring!!!

Then Maybe all the fighting will stop.

But history only concentrates on the white mans sins....why?

Yeah, Why? and wasnt it the french who shipped slaves over here in the first place?

Least thats what I read in my history books. my grandparents came here early
but not as early as the french and the slaves. and some of my family who came were
classified as servants. from Poland.

Frank you always stand up when I need ya :) Tanks :)

Sounds more like white supremacy stuff to me

yes, agreed. People have been mixing for long long time. The only thing that did
grow was populations.

Life / Black people in Poland [357]

ok, so someone can tell me violence dont happen in poland?
or is there places neglected by poor communities and its a bad area to go to
because of this?

how many cities are bad in Poland? where you are not safe to walk without
someone or protection?

This dude is a devil. Im black and I would cuss him out if he said some **** like that to me. Racism is getting lower and lower every generation, and we dont need f*ck ups like this guy trying to start ****

yes I agree , it is getting better. the neighboorhoods in which he speaks of are
like that because of the mayors who dont want to spend the money to do
something about it. cities are controlled by mayors who have the power to change
things. again it all boils down to Govt and if the govt would spend less on
themselfs and give more to communities which are struggleing, then maybe
things would get better.

for example mayor Kilpatrick, who sends his sister to las vegas, or was that him?
and buys new cars, vans for his family on citys tax money, why they voted him
back is beyond me. but then again, I didnt vote for bush either so nothing
surpises me anymore, maybe they know someone on the inside.

dont take this all to heart either. I am American Polish and we arent accepted
so well either from some. not all, many say kind things and others call us
wannabes. so its more of individual thought process which can be demented
there are a great deal of regulars on here and new ones who are very kind and
just great people to talk to.

and I do say that to all the good folks with utmost respect.

You are right I mean Bush and the Oil companys of America.

its sad. people die for oil. and they said, well the reason gas prices went up
is because of the oil out on the gulf, they have to fix them. but what was the
excuse before Katrina? they have been sucking us dry since bush took office.

Jose, good try, but Frank is right, just forget responding, now its getting to the
insults, and this topic, like several others, cant be discussed or debated without
people getting upset.

you are right though white is not fading, but let it all go. its not worth the headache
to stress out , and we all know what good we do in our own hearts. what we
believe.

OMG stop!

Now this is over the top, Polish dont do that, and I highly doubt any black people
live there, as this is supposed to be the black, arab stuff that happens according
to someone who is Mr Supremists. now we have whites on whites?

you have white bad guys and black bad guys, is there anyone left who is good
in black and white? ebony and ivory?

hey, I like that song, it kinda reminds me of how we all have to live together
on one planet.

ebony and ivory, live together in perfect harmony.

anyone else care to help me finish the song?

you may join in anytime.

we may never always see eye to eye. but as long as we are able to see
each others eyes.

Life / Black people in Poland [357]

This guy has done diddly squat. The days of a good detroit ended when whites became the minority.

First of all, I am not denying that Detroit isnt more black then white, and you
repeated what I said, that it was govt, and so did the next post.
my mother lived on a street in rouge with many blacks among them back
before the riots. no problems , but they got tired of segregated schools, water
fountains for blacks, bathrooms for blacks, chairs for blacks.

it isnt that way for whites, when we go to detroit, yes its run down, from lack
of care on the mayors part. the people still pay the taxes, and the people
from the burbs only pay taxes to work there.

we dont have white bathrooms, and white chairs, white only buses, white only
drinking fountains, they didnt change things like that because we are minority
in detroit.

they dont stick us on the back of a bus, or tell us to get up and move to another
seat because that seat is a black only seat.

I never said that people cant be comfortable and stick with their own, my whole
point is about people making it a point to knock down other races.
another point (good one by the way) eminem who lived in detroit, lived the poor
lifestyle to become a superstar! , Im sure Aretha Franklin also had a hand it
making detroit a bad city too, as it was her off spring that did it, and oh I forgot
to mention that they have aides/hiv, so you might not want to listen to their
music cause you might get infected.

Yes Im being sarcastic, Plenty of good people in Detroit as well as bad.
as there is all over.

Take your head out of your ass and look around. There is just no sense of civil responsiblily in this particular group of people.

I suggest you do the same, as you only see one way and thats bojownik's way

Maybe we should take you for a car ride and put you in the middle of this great
town and see how much mouthing off you do. I would love to make a movie on
it how you mingle with others. I would guess if your nice, they will let you go
but if your not, I am sure they will find a bunch of pitbulls to feed you to.

Life / Do Polish people respect other cultures? [96]

I really do not care if blacks or arabs or whatever have their own countries, but please, please not in Poland. Not in innocent Warsaw. It's a precious city representing Poland's heritage, it should'nt be disrespected with other cultures trying to take it over.

look no ones trying to take over anything.

when people leave their countries , its because they are trying to find better.
the heritage doesnt die if they continue on with it, people here in America
who just came from Poland , or have been here, many still hold true to traditions
and their culture very stongly as do other nations who came from other countries.

and they still wear dress. People travel all over the world, and they find a place
which to them they feel very attracted to, whether its for money, love, whatever
the reasons, no one wants peace more then they guy whos moving in.

Preference of who wants to date who , people cant stop it.
theres penpal sites where people want friends from all over, and more.
coming in a forum and saying that isnt going to stop it. you can hate it all you
want, but its reality.

I believe, Poles behave decently only in the countries which they fear or bootlick like Germany or the USA

I am sure they are decent anywhere they are. and I dont believe they have anything
to fear from the USA.

Not sure on the Germany thing.

USA, Canada / American attitude towards Poland [89]

I don't know who you have been talking to, but it seems you have been brainwashed by US propaganda, its time you found a program that makes your live in the real world.
Unfortunately if Americans where to live in the real world, perhaps they wouldn't cope, would it be a nation suffering a identity crisis, would mean a massive nervous breakdowns of America people or Mass Suicide, who knows, will other countries say" too bad too sad" hmmm I think so.

Lef you always got something to say dont ya? LOL

I think you got Lef out when the world changed.. lol

America welcomes Polish. There is Plenty of culture here (as Krysia says) and
Yes, most live in the Chicago/Greater Detroit area -Hamtramak. which is
wonderful place to live. or there are other smaller towns in other places here.

definately welcome.

Polish people constantly use their brains, thinking how to improve this or that, they can fix things themselves.

OMG, that settles it, I am true polish :)

I knew there was a reason I save and fix things. but not my dryer!! lol

just today, i went to hardware store and bought the stick which connects to the
mini blinds that had broke, I went in and I was showing the man with my hands
what I was talking about, of course he teased me. but he knew what I was talking
about!!! lol

and the strip which goes across the bottom of the door so I can keep the heat in
and drafts out. next week I will prob work in my basement.

oh getting back to the stick thing for the mini blinds, I told the guy that mine were
plastic, but of course, he says no, it should have a hook , i said no, I checked it
he said they all have hooks, so I came home, it was the plastic as I said, so I had
to rig it with a hook i found which I use for window decorations, but it was small
enough to fit. I was right. "MEN" Uh- I mean Hardware store owners!! lol

Life / I want to leave Poland [82]

well ,another thread went to pieces!

As Giles said, I would do some heavy research , there are places which will sponser
people, so depending on what your current job status is and what you want to
do, usually the sponsering is a package deal with apts included and help getting
settled in. :) hope this helps.

If you want to make a contact with them, you have to write an official letter (in Polish I'm afraid) and write briefly what you want. I'm afraid they won't answer your e-mail especially if you're asking about someone's data. All data they have is AFTER 1906.

my bad, good to know that, I did get a response, but from the archives. polish and
english.

anyway. this good to know.

koach, I found your original posts, I will look again. sorry about the repeating

Life / Poland is wearing me down. :( Polish excuses... [30]

way to go Nauczyciel , One step at a time.

just make sure to tell them that if the dont want to meet anywhere to just let you
know up front so your not waiting, its the least they could do and part of common
courtesey to tell you up front , tonight would be a bad night to go, I have some
things to catch up on.

as for the accusations. one of the teachers here has parent helpers , who are in
the classroom helping. this way there is someone around all the time to back you
up if such accusations come about.

I dont know what age group you work with, but it might not be a bad Idea to
incorporate a assistant :)

just a suggestion :) Patty

USA, Canada / American attitude towards Poland [89]

Yanks calling us idiots... that's funny indeed.

its no different for you then for us who are polish in America and having to hear it
but just as they joke, we do retort back.

whats good for the goose is good for the gander.

I pay no attention now, and most of the time, if it is a polish joke, they tend to be
more consious of that fact and ask if your offended. some do, not all.

but being born in America, second generations and third gens, and hearing jokes
like that, then hearing that we are thought of as morons. well either way isnt
very encouraging when your attempting to connect with your culture.

But I would think other nationalitys have same problems. because once you leave
no one thinks of you as a part of that culture because you dont live there.

It hard either way.

then hearing that we are thought of as morons

to clarify this, meaning thought of as morons by some in poland, not all

but getting back to the post, coming to the USA would probably be easier
for someone who is Polish Vs someone from America coming there, because
of language barrier.

frank, go look on post # 83, "HOW DO POLISH VIEW OTHERS"

Thats what I was referring to, and that isnt the only time I have ever read
or seen posts that refer to that.

USA, Canada / American attitude towards Poland [89]

because they didn't know English language were forced to take the menial jobs and were depict as dumb.

it was more then that here, it lasted a long time, but its not really like that now.

like I said, most will actually ask if you are offended.

my maiden name was a dead give away compared to my married name.
so no one knows that I am Polish unless I tell them .

those who know me, know my background.

and I still have one friend whos husband still calls me Polack and I say
hows it going "HICK" Golly gee, where'd ya get those extra big sandals?
oh Dems Yer Feet.. sorry gah.

I get asked now if I am Irish. hmmmmmmmmm.....

USA, Canada / American attitude towards Poland [89]

You probably think I'm anti American,

what gave you that idea?? lol

Why on earth is a Pole flattered when he is mistaken to be an Irish???

He is a she, and its because my last name is Irish (husbands last name)
as his father was Irish.

and his name is a common last name, as I have been asked if I know certain
families who came from their town and so I have to offer that this is my
married last name and not maiden and that I am all Polish.

LOL....Patrycja.........is USA born and bred L...lol

yes, I am 2nd generation for USA.

The ultimate compliment.........

Frank, somehow, I knew that you were going to say that :)

Polish jokes exploded in popularity. By the 1980s, many kids repeating such jokes though “Polack” was another word for “moron” rather than someone from an actual country

Fisz, this is soooooo true. this was what I was referring to. and my last name
was the key to the target. kids at school , everytime my last name was
pronounced for attendance, I would hear crap. eventually I started to ignore
then I joined in, "cant beat emm join emm so to speak" and so thus, those who
were calling me Pollack, or do you know how to Ski?
and growing up, I was pretty pissed off about it, because it was constant, and
relentless.

that is why I say, even us 2nd and third generations had to endure the
jokes, and after hearing it for so long , its time to snap!

so my logic to this was hey, hows it going ya yeller belly varmit! or hill billy hick
once I started picking on their nationality, it tapered down.

oh and my last one " I might be pollack, but least I have all my teeth."
what were ya chewin on , cow turds you said? oh is that why your breath
smells like Sh*t . <~that was my later years comebacks as I wasnt allowed to
swear when I was real young lol.

anyway, I didnt want to do it, but it was the only solution to it.
my name was then used more "patricia" instead of Pollack.

News / Where in the US/UK live most Poles? [46]

They have been out mid west for some time, I just dont think you have central
area like some states do.

Michigan, New York, Chicago, ohio, alot of Northern states have areas that
people settled long time ago, and still to this day are considered more
Polish then any other nationality. And probably because these areas have
alot of Culture within them , that is more of a center point for Polish Immigrants
now, who want to come.

as for moving out west, the job market is probably better, I know our state
is struggling, so I am sure there is better and the warmer climates is appealing
to, plus midwest has alot of country that represents Polands. <~could be?
Mountains? beautiful lakes? forests? We have all that too, just not as much
as Poland.

my 10 cents worth. :)

News / Made in Poland products? [66]

Jan 18, 07 [00:28] - Attached on merging:
Polish made Products

How do Others feel about this topic. I had recieved two porceline bowls that my
mother in law bought for me from Qvc and they were imported from poland.

when i got them, i was very impressed with the quality. Obvious that someone took
time to create it, which shows me quality and I know that many things I buy from
the store always have the Made in Korea sign on it, and it dont last .

I think America should have more Polish made items instead, Id feel better spending
my money on something that will last me longer and is made the way it should be
instead of it breaking the first week I bought it.

And the next answer to questions like "why dont you buy USA items" we do
but its mostly made in Korea, and alot of jobs are outsourced <~thats another
topic.

Law / Outsourced jobs to Poland [9]

I dont know if We USA outsource jobs to Poland, if we do, that is good. if we dont
we should, I know I would prefer to talk to somone from poland instead of
Korea or other asian countries.

no offense to the asian communities, but sometimes their english is so broken
up I cant hear a word they said, I dont usually respond to them because all i
can hear is OK?

I ask them WHO? they tell me again with a long roll and then say OK again.
it is very frustrating. I have nothing against anyone, but I think the phone jobs
should go somewhere else. its just a more appropriate thing to do.

I have to ask to many times over and over, and I feel bad doing that.

hi Patty

Hi Casper :)

I would take the advice of the ones who said, just stay in areas where
they told you is ok, reason being, we have same problem with people
here in the states doing same, ya just dont walk in a rough neighborhood period!

but if your doing volunteer work, I dont think whom ever your staying with will
let you go in the bad areas, which poland has, just like england has and united
states, there is areas that you have to steer clear from .

dont want to generalize, but its true, we all have our bad neighborhoods.

my 2 cents :)

Law / Outsourced jobs to Poland [9]

Some of these companies in Poland lost a lot of business opportunities because of such beaurocratic chains.

maybe so , but your not gaining business when the consumer dont understand
the person who called either.

I saying that being one of them!

Plus, it depends on what your offering as well, poor wages + language barrier +
rush rush to push the jobs out = NO MONEY

Maybe these managers know in poland that their workers are worth a bit more
and dont settle for less. quality vs quanity. etc

News / Countries in Europe where abortion is allowed/not allowed? [110]

You cannot judge me unless you are another woman who has been through a difficult time like I had, what do you know what it's like to be pregnant and feel utterly hopeless about the future?

I agree with this, because your already going thru some difficult changes, and
my opinion "takes two " and its not all your doing. you wanted the baby, but giving
the situation as it was, he had enough to take care of the baby, so the thinking
part should have also been more so on his part and he should have told you from
the start of the relationship that he didnt want kids so soon, and kept his restraint
or used a condom !

so he was irresponsible in that by not communicating with you this upfront before
you had intercourse, and by the post, you both living together , how would this
not happen if you are both happy ,living together, and commited to each other in
that sense?

he knew the risk ,and so did you, but again, bringing up in another post, when
you think you know someone, you truely dont, people change, or dont always
tell you what is on their mind, and can fool you for a while till its too late, so
I do sympathize with your loss, and only wish and hope that you can move on
because it was a very hard thing to do , and given your situation, hope that you
have healed.

Its easy for people to say " I told you so" but, when its you in that situation, I
really dont think anyone wants to hear that, we should all take this as a learning
tool and hope for the best for those who are willing to share that part of their
lives.

I said don't judge me but I was just being defensive. Of course you should judge. And I am the first to say that I was dumb, naive, immature and stupid. I should have known better at 22 and 23 but I acted more like I was 16 or 18.

we all have had our time, so dont judge yourself so harshly, just try to move on
and dont let anything hold you back from your goals that you set aside for yourself.

The one you have to look out for most is you!
