Life / Natural Cures in Poland? [10]

LOL well, home remedies do work, maybe you should have squeezed some
toothpaste in your ear too to get rid of the onion breath :) lol

Kidding, had to say that. all is good.

P

Hot milk, honey and crushed garlic mixed together tastes a bit er...garlicy but seems to work well.

Garlic is used for number of things, but I know one which is works really well
all by itself, it lowers blood pressure, my brother uses it all the time, and he
has high BP 's, so when he does try to take care of himself, he uses this, and gets
a A+ when he goes to his checkups.

But, the downside of it, you need heavy perfume, and or stay home till it wears off!
lol

Life / Natural Cures in Poland? [10]

I had warm milk with sryup, which dont sound great at first, but its actually
pretty good.

that dont sound half bad, especailly the honey part :)

Who here has had the indegestion reliever?

about a 1/4 cup vinagar, in big glass, with some water, about a 1/4, and one
tablespoon of baking soda , -do over the sink and drink the bubbles!

it foams up fast, my mom used this instead of tums or rolaids, and pepto bismal.

makes ya burp something awful! but settles the stomach.

trick is to drink as much of the bubbles as fast as you can so it will make you
burp! lol

Life / Natural Cures in Poland? [10]

know for coughing they make a syrup with onions and sugar and let it sit for a while.
They use a lot of different types of herb teas for certain ailments.

MY mom made me, as a child, use onions and lemon juice with sugar, it tasted
nasty, but I was so busy making faces, I didnt think about coughing! lol

Life / Natural Cures in Poland? [10]

My brother gave me a book, Kevin Trudeau "Natural Cures" "They" Don't Want You
to Know About.

Anyone read it? I seen him on TV this morning.

I can tell you, some of the old Remedies of MY Grandmother (Very Polish) used
worked on me as a child, I remember specific things my mom said this is what
Grandma used to do.

And it was all Natural.

how Much does the Polish Population rely on Medical technology Vs Natural
Remedies?

I still use some of the Remedies my Grandmother used for certain things. but
sometimes, I think its a matter of Patience, and how fast things work depending
on the ailment.

Food / How do you make Bimber traditionally? [18]

Bimber is basically a Polish version of moonshine....or "bathtub" liquor.

oh yeah, my Grandma made that here, I dont have a recipe, but I do have stories!
they got busted during prohibition era.

my uncle used to help her, and my dad, she would sell candy (confections) by
day, and Liqior by night. lol

but, cops busted them, and it was all dumped right in front of them.

was told they knew the purple gang, or sold to emm. "not sure how true that one
is as it is a story among family members"

anyway, yep, bathtub was what she used.

USA, Canada / How attractive is Canada for Polish men and women? [23]

They should stop letting the guys fight it really ruins the game.

I agree, but when your the guy getting hit, and the arsehole who just did it
is sneering , what would your reaction be.

unfortunately it draws the crowds.

Love / Feminism effects both sexes in a different way - opinions? [115]

i believe that women should be submissive to their men. That is what the bible says. i dont think men should take advantage of this and i think he should show the same respect back.

now that was definately a male pretending to be a woman so we all wont
flip out!

Love / I'm so burnt out from american women and I love Polish ones [30]

I personally think that men like a women who looks after herself, lets face it no bloke wants a two bagger, <~ I am thinking this means ugly, so
all those ugly people should be the ones lonely right?

hmm beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I suppose people do wonder why some
two baggers are with handsome guys at times, maybe these fellas seen more in
them then whats on the outside.

advocate cosmetic surgery, because if we can improve on something that we are not happy with why the hell shouldnt we do something about it.

have you see some of the results of cosmetic surgery?
it makes you look good when you are young, when you get old, then you have
the two bagger looks! makes ya age faster.

improving things can also come with risks. ,many have died having boob jobs, or
having tummy tucks, altering your body can be dangerous, I dont advocate that.

nice story but:
It didn't happened to them because of their looks. They happened to be good looking. It happened to them becaue they were immature.

good point.

Seriously, love is not easy to find and you can't make yourself love someone or make someone love you. If you've found real love when you're young, then you're blessed. But not everyone does. Some people would prefer to wait than settle for anything less. What happens if you turn the corner and find love and you're with someone else?

well, my personal opinion, love is something that grows during the relationship, you cant
automatically love, you can lust, cause you find them attractive, and want to
hop in the sack.

Love / I'm so burnt out from american women and I love Polish ones [30]

He looks like bolo? Can I have his phone number? Just kidding.

lol. maybe that would not be a bad idea, hes very handsome, my friend who is very pretty
and basically, they were booty calls to each other, it was sad to see her cry, cause her
giving in thinking he will change his mind, and then he tells her at one time, I am not
looking for relationship, then says to me, I wish I had what you have. he cared for my
friend, but he knew how she felt, and maybe the idea scared him, but at the same
time, he would say things to her, then change his mind, it was hard to not be in the
middle of it because she would ask me all the time, "did he ask about me"?

many nights sitting with her while she cried it out, and many nights with him, hearing
his I wish I wish I wish, two very good looking people, and they couldnt come together
after we moved, she stayed single for a while, but now, she is with someone she dont
love. because she wont let herself. she wanted him and him only, Ive talked to her
about this, and it was like talking to a wall, she was trying hard, there was so much
tense situations, I was glad we moved.

The really bad part was, at one time, he was across at our neighbors, she was
watching him out the window, and he kept saying how he didnt want anything, but
would say those right words to get some, he was hitting on another girl, and so
he wanted to bring her to my home, which I felt was very ballsy, seeing that he knew
that my friend adored him, I wouldnt allow him in my house, afterwards a big fight broke
out, and it was another friend of hers who "is supposed to be her friend" sorry I am
confusing folks, but this is what happens every day, not just in my neighborhood,
anyway, now, she is with someone, and he asked about her, so he finally wants to
be with her, after all the hurt, crying, fights (caused over his flirting) and she dont
want him now.

she dont want to trust, she dont want to let herself love, alot of people get lucky to
have good relationships, some dont, but, Ive watched alot of my friends get hurt,
and some have found happiness , this was a case of standards, he also didnt want
to be in a relationship with someone who has kids, yes to each their own. but
you see alot of the same people who went to the bar, ten or so years ago, still doing
the same things, and still looking. sad.

Love / I'm so burnt out from american women and I love Polish ones [30]

I think that you've been reading too many books.

nope.

but, u can say what you want, I see it in real life, and then I see the Why me?
my husbands friend for one crys it all the time, my girlfriend loves him to death
and he wants someone who is his type, I seen who he likes, and so far he is
in his late 30s' almost 40 no kids, no life, no wife, lost his job many times, and
if he would have made the commitment with my friend, she would have showered
him, she adored him, he looks like bolo!

so bolo, make sure you do not have high standards, or you will end up like my
husbands friend. and he is nice guy, very attractive, but, lonley as hell!

my books are real life! I go more, but I dont want to bore you .

Love / I'm so burnt out from american women and I love Polish ones [30]

what if you're not ''easy'' at all, turned down girls all your life because you looked for true love and all you encounter were gold diggers, liars and cheaters? - purely hypothetical ofcourse! -

Arien, I am of course not dr phil, lol, but I see alot of men, here, go for what they
call the perfect woman, and they look like a painted face, boobs are fake, they have
a model shape, sorry but any girl that looks like that is high (extremely high) maintence
they dont cook, and they dont even know how to clean their own home.

the media helps this too, just like they do with the model men, and we all know
when you get back to reality, if you walk around your neighbor hood, or go to
a store, tell me how many people you see that look like that on the street?

yeah if you go in a club, or bar, sure you will find lots of sexy people, thats where they
all meet, to meet someone, but, the bar can be the worst place, and the best place
to meet somone. my suggestion, be yourself, and dont look so hard, love finds you
most of the time.

when someone goes to a bar, and they are sitting back staring at the crowd, you can
immediately tell they are looking for long term, almost desperate look, they are no having
any fun cause they are to busy looking in the crowd instead of dancing and letting them
selfs have fun, joining in conversations, or making people laugh.

not saying you do that, but you werent your true self, trust is something people have
to build.

I think you are on your way, like I said, dont look for it, let it come to you, in the mean
time be yourself, dont flaunt material things, this will attract gold diggers, and
just try to be yourself. Dr P lol.

I see alot of men, here

Whoops. wanted to clarify this, as alot of men here in America. I cant speak for
Europe.

Love / I'm so burnt out from american women and I love Polish ones [30]

have a very close friend from poland who once told Me "Go, Get Polish girl, Best girls, Polish" and it turns out he is right.

I am not saying that you are wrong, that is good that you feel this way.
but remember, there are polish women who are American.

American is Europe in the West. minus the Native American.

Were all Immigrants Starting at Christopher C .

I wont say, and generalize that American men have thorns up their butts either
that would be pretty rude of me to say.

you have to high standards, that is why American women dont appeal, and most
men have a Ideal Picture growing up of what they want in a woman, but, of course
if you chase the ones who are brought up in a more greedy atmosphere, and have
everything handed to them, you will get that response of, I am going to change my
man attitude.

and I really hate to bust your bubble, but, if you have been taken before by a woman
its probably cause you are to easy, and the gold diggers will seek you out.

Gold diggers can be any nationality, you had balls enough to put down American
women, so now grow some to actually be firm and assertive in your relationships.
otherwise, it is going to happen again and again. no matter what country.

Genealogy / Can the Church in Poland help geneology search? [8]

dave, on rootsweb, linked in the genealogy, it has a section for the churches, and how
to write to poland, of course, someone here will write it in polish, you can cut copy paste
into your reg email and send it off, or mail it.

but you do need the town name for sure, and another thing about that is, there might
be more then one church. on my moms side, they asked upper or lower side, so its
tricky now. plus, the actual spelling of the last name you are lookin for.

I have Ancestry.com, I can look on a draft, see if they have a better name spelling
if you want. P

News / Andrzej Lepper - is he a typical Polish politician? [8]

Is he a typical Polish politician?

Mr. Lepper and the other member of his party has just been accused of employing women in exchange for… sex.

ok u tell me one man in this world who dont like sex?
unless he lives in the artic circle and its cold all the time, there is going to be
sex scandals in every politician's career. some we just dont hear about cause they
probably paid someone off to stay quiet!

as for Clinton, to tell you the truth, I wish he was still president, whatever was going
on with monica, who cares, he did some good here, so if this guy is having sex
well, hopefully hes not using the govt's budget, otherwise, if he is good, then
who cares about the other stuff.

I can see if hes lying , laundering money, etc etc.

the only part I would worry about is if he or any other politician was looking at
porno's of children, then yes, hang emm! <~thats sick, that means get him to
a psych doc asap! lock him up.

every politician has to bear all, yes they should, but really does his personal sex
life really mean that much to anyone if he does good for the country?
as long as its of some normal male tendencies<~not man bashing, but really
Hilliary Clinton looks like she might run for president in 2008 and I really hate to
see what the media will do to her if she goes out for coffee with tony blair or
someone from her staff. The Media get really ugly.

yes they should

Be honest was the left out line.

History / What does it mean to be Polish? [46]

and if u never have been to Poland, u will never understand

Poland lives in America too, plenty of Polish culture here.
We might not pay polish taxes, or have daily news on Poland issues.
but it is still a culture. a way of life. traditions. I pay taxes and hear the news
daily. our president sucks here in the states, and your presidents sucks in
poland. we have shady people who run congress so do you.
we have poor people, so does poland. we have rich, so does poland.

culture is not rich, poor, shady,or how bad it sucks.
it is what Polish stands for- the polish eagle-someone tell me what that symbol means!
like the recipes krysia posts, beliefs of people, traditions that they have, what
religion, background. I know living there helps. but the problems are no
different then any place else in the world, so if its based on that. then its not
a culture. I dont feel that way, and ya know what, ya aint gonna burst my
bubble, I know poland has problems.

right now my goal is to learn the language as hard as it will be.
I may not ever get to visit, my hopes are to visit.

I got a story (oh crap here she goes again).

my cousin sophie (zofia) went to poland with one of her friends with a group
and she went into a small shop, with all kinds of neat things, she spotted these
handmade curtains so she was undecided if she should by them
or not, she asked the price, and she told her, they were priced to high. so she told
the lady no, she didnt want them.

the lady rattles off in Polish, stupid americans dont want to spend their money
so cheap!

is that Polish culture? cause we get that here too only its everyone.

My cousin knew what she said, she didnt say anything back, she wanted to, but
she felt she would let the woman know nicely that she knew what she said by
saying, lets go, we can spend our cheap money elsewhere.

"eyeballs got big"! yes, polish lives in America.

Love / Feminism effects both sexes in a different way - opinions? [115]

but really patrycja, I don't know where you live, or how old you are, but around here, you'll find no guy - my age, older men I don't know - who says you belong in the kitchen

I live in the USA, and I am 40.

MY very first relationship was with a 28 year old, I was 18.
we didnt have any children together, I moved out to live with him (stupid) and his
three kids.

for the first 5 years of my young adulthood I cooked, Cleaned, and took care of his
kids. after 5 years and going no where, but playing house, I snapped!
packed up my clothes sucked in my pride and moved back home.
Oops and took my cat "mischief" back with me too.

only thing good that I had out of that relationship was the fact that his children
loved me and said to this day, i was the best mom they ever had, he went thru
a few more "moms" for his kids, and he still is a sad case.

During that relationship, I could not work "cause who would care for the kids"?
it was like I was a ready made mom stuck. why I let it happen so long, well I guess
cause his children needed me more then their dad who was never around.

So why do women get to be the way they are? "experiences" what dont kill us only
makes us stronger type.

Heres an Example of a complete idiot of a father: I went to my moms to get food, because he used all the food stamps that he got from the state to buy drugs.

I didnt know he did this, he said he would come home in a while, well that led
to coming home at 3 am in the morning when we were all sleeping.
my mom had made some nice lasagna dinner, so we took it home, well later on
the piece that she gave to my ex-boyfriend, we all ate it, cause all of us were hungry
so I promised them I would go back to Grandmas in the morn for more. and that
their dad would be home soon.
so he comes in all drugged up on Whatever it was, like a madman, pulls me out of
bed by my hair, and asked me where his food was? while yelling at me and calling
me all kinds of names, wakes the kids, I am not a good person to wake up.

So as hes doing all this, I grabbed my hair out of his hands, push him back a few feet
and came at him with the same force!

now, how on earth can this be justified? it cant, there was no excuse for his behavior
to drag me out of bed for food that he couldnt provide.

and this isnt one person, there is more like him out there.

going back to my posts on why I hate skinheads. these guys act like women are
their slaves. she has to cook, clean, wipe his arse, etc etc the list goes on.
she cant see her family ,she cant do any work outside the home unless he says so
type guys who make me sick.

The only things I can say is, Arien, its good to know that Men are doing their fair
share, because the theory of "Im getting married, so now I dont have to do it"
is all Wrong "not saying you said that" but alot of men do get this impression that
once they marry, they dont have to wash their own things anymore.

and I do hear that alot of men say that they want a Polish wife because they
cook good, and take care of the house good, well this is true, but, this is 2006
and most women and men have to work -both to keep their home stable.
so whether she s polish , english, southern, whatever- the bottom line is, its
a two sided relationship and both have to work together at it.

This is how I feel personally.

but really patrycja, I don't know where you live, or how old you are, but around here, you'll find no guy - my age, older men I don't know - who says you belong in the kitchen?

Another thing I might want to add to this is, maybe in europe things might be
different. I know that one of the girls I work with, she married a English gentleman
and says she dont know what she would do without him.

she says he helps with her son, hes a hard worker, he does the housework when
he is off work, not that their home is messy, but he keeps it straightened.

he supports her in everything. as she does him, and she did live in the UK for little
over a year, and said it was hard to adjust. she wanted to come back to the
US and so he stayed there till his paperwork was all set 13 months! and he moved
here to the united states and he loves it.

both are very happy and she says, oh we will go see his family as much as possible,
so this might be why I think that way about europe.

I do agree, there is more respect in some cultures then in others.
and many are taught to learn to fend for themselfs. <~something every mother
should teach.

UK, Ireland / Crime in london versus Crime in Poland. [24]

Leading to my point, some violent people who follow street culture see women (particularly nice weak white girls) as rape fodder and "nice white/asian" educated males as good mugging victims.

(USA we know already:-) ).

Yeah, but same person getting mugged 3 times in a year? more like targeting.

Usa, we have crime, and killings, mugging, but, its not the same person
1 every 5 months or so. yes its global, but what astounded me was the mugged
3 times, then burgled in her own home?
Yes they prey on Women, and unsuspecting men, but that seems to me like
someone is following. you said there was alot of them? or more then one, well if they
see the same person, they could change the person doing the muggin but target
the same girl. this way during stress of the incident she wont remember what he
looked like, but if it was same guy, she could pick him out (does that make sense?)

oh I am just babbleing, but, I am so sorry your fiance is going thru so much. that
has to have you ready to get out , how can one feel safe?

Let me tell you, I live in suburbs, I dont live that close, but close enough to a pretty
rough city, which is getting better. but still the crime rate is up, more then it should
be. I lock my doors, we have a DOG, so when a fly passes by the house, he knows
and lets us know.
any form of protection is good protection.
I know that someone could violate my home, and that scares me too, but, I do feel
safe in my home, no one should not feel safe, your home is your castle, and that
dont matter if its a real castle, or a small apt way up on the 9th floor. no one has
the right to do that.

no matter what part of the world.

UK, Ireland / Crime in london versus Crime in Poland. [24]

When she was burgled, she was sharing a room with two other Polish girls and she woke up to see an IC3 crouched over her friend with a knife to her throat, whispering demands for her cash. My little monster screamed and this crackhead fled back out through the window.

OMG Casper, they held a knife to her throat!!! what is going on there?

Three times in one year? The average person would only get their purse stolen
or mugged outside establishments once in their lifetime here, least where I live.

(knock on wood) !

I never have had either though I live in the states and it is bad here too in some
cities, but London is a tourists attraction, what about the tourists who come there?
besides the ones who live there?

If that is the case, I would be getting me some type of protection, it is sad to
know that you can work as hard as you do and someone else can come along and
rip it right out from under you, and harm you over money!

my suggestion is if that area is that bad, or getting that bad, I would be taking
self defense, and also carrying protection! <~if you dont have a choice that is to
move.

History / What does it mean to be Polish? [46]

not shunned as some ‘half-breed’ fumbling for purpose

I agree with this, like I said, I took interest in learning, that is a choice I made,
I try to encourage, but ones interest is not there, the others is, for how long
I dont know, my heart is in it, it does upset me though when someone calls you
a wannabe Pole<~that is rude, as you said "celebrate" that others want to be
a part of that culture.

They have choices, or they can not choose at all, but I will keep on doing what i am
doing to learn. something I want to do.

History / What does it mean to be Polish? [46]

You mean your Dad or Mum or older sister/brother?

NO, My Older Daughter, she tells everyone she has Polish Heritage, but
she is not all Polish like I am, Her father has English, French, German, some other
nationalities, but her fathers side, the history goes all the way back to the mayflower
when they arrived here.

Now, my younger child, she copys everything I do, she wants to learn the Polish, she
also isnt all Polish by blood, she has Polish, German, Arabic, <~spelled wrong, and
Irish, but her heart is into it, she asks all the time about Poland, who is our family in
Poland, which we still do ,and still correspond with them.

I try to spark their interest through my interest, it is only working on the younger one.

Ooops, I wanted to say, the older daughter says I dont care, but i think that goes
along with the age too, she is 14. most dont care at that age about anything but
boys!

I think that you are polish by blood

Thank you :) I agree with you on customs changing, even here, the culture has
changed, each family celebrates the traditions differently , everything that my
grandparents did is lost, the only thing I do have is my Blood, <~thank god!

trying to learn it, read about it. feel closer to family. thats all. :) not so bad.

Love / Feminism effects both sexes in a different way - opinions? [115]

just think they overdo it sometimes when they list all of the expectations they seem to have of a man.

but that's not really a reason to generalise men or women is it?

when I say all those men, I am talking about the ones who have these values of
being the providers, telling the woman you stay home, I will make the money in
this house then up and leave emm stranded. Yes there are good men out there.
few and far between.

and women do leave their children too, so I do stand corrected on that.
Men can be good fathers, Women good mothers.

its the comments like, you belong in the kitchen, or go get me a beer, or
are my clothes washed yet?

that is treating a woman like she is more a servant then a partener.
if she was treated equal, there would be no need for women to fight back.

we do these things out of love, commitment.
far as I am concerned, if a man expects that from a woman, then he isnt
committed.

share the burdens. thats all some ask for. we work hard too.

:) I wasnt going to post on this topic, so now I said it. dont mean to offend
just views.

Love / Are you in a Polish-nonPolish relationship? [150]

Some people find me annoying..some very entertaining

Aniah, you are not annoying, lol , I have to agree with Aniah, even where I live
I find more Polish are outspoken and say whats on their mind, even if it tends to
get them in trouble. :)

my Father was pretty outspoken, my mom was more passive, but not when my father
passed away, she then took over and if someone crossed her path watch out!

Me being a parent, I would incrimminate myself on here, the only thing I should
say is, their only hope would be the police to find them first.

Love / Feminism effects both sexes in a different way - opinions? [115]

Thats 3 for 3 all ready to jump in their fox holes. lol

Men/women have different "value" systems.

ones which we are taught.

there are certain jobs that are not suitable for a women - heavy lifting manual jobs.

Agree - but some women do take these jobs to prove their worth against men.

Not for me.

Thats fine...but what about in life in general

In general as in ? What about all those men who are supposed to be the provider
of a family and leave this so called family to go on to better things, leaving the
woman to fend with her children for herself? she is now the mother and father both
to the children, she has to provide food, make this food, work her butt off to keep
her head above water, with no support from the "male" gender.

Why do you think women did this? not just for the right to vote, the workload alone
on women is much heavier then any man, her work continues day and night.
especially those who are single mothers.

Me ,my husband and his friend got into this discussion so many times, it ended up
the same every time, they are taught to respect women and say that a womans place
is in the home, but bringing up the subject again, when the man leaves, who is the
Man of the house?

The Woman!

quote=Patrycja19, Post #20 ]to respect women and say that a womans place
is in the home,[/quote]

course when they bring up the respect part, then say that, it becomes heated.

they both get out their steel lined hats! lol
