It has nothing to do with the area of Poland you’r from.
Proper pronunciation is babcia period.
This sounds to me like a second generation Polish-American family where Polish language is not used at home. The words just get mispronounced over period of time. You hear this kind of Polish in US all the time.

Food / Polish Spirytus Recipes [14]

Ingredients:

12 lemons
1 liter of honey (linden flower or heather flower)
1 liter of vodka
1 liter of Tokaj (Hungarian Wine)
1 liter of spirytus
2 cloves
2 cardamom seeds

Preparation:
Extract juice from the lemons and combine with other ingredients.

Pour everything into 5 liter wine bottle. Make sure bottle is tightly closed and leave it for 30 days. You should shake the bottle at least once a week during those 30 days. After 30 day strain the liquid, and pour it into bottles. Cap the bottles tightly and leave it in a dark celler or pantry for at least 4 months.

None of the above
I myself would not be so quick to categorize people. From an academic point of view it is convenient way to perceive and judge people’s behavior. However there is a lot more to human behavior then the standard academic definition. To truly understand someone and his true outlook on other culture is to spend a lot of hours in conversation with that person. For what you perceive to be inability to tolerate custom of a foreign culture might just be the taboo in his own culture. So if I do not participate in some ceremony of a foreign culture does not necessarily mean that I’m not willing to tolerate that culture. What is acceptable in one society as an acceptable behavior is not necessarily in mine. This might be because of a moral or even religious upbringing or belief. Therefore you would automatically categorize me on a lower level on your scale which might not be true. That’s just a tip of the iceberg. So I highly recommend spending a lot of time on conversation, especially if you come from two totally alien societies.

What I mean is that the cultural differences are great. They should be celebrated, not categorized.

Someone in academia comes up with this stupid theory, and puts integration at the highest level therefore it is good. And we as human race should just evolve to that highest level. I for one do not agree with that premise. In my opinion diversity is good.

I remember reading somewhere that the scientists have analyzed polio vaccine that had been used in the program and the result was negative. Looking for ones roots is a luxury that can only be afforded by the ones that have reached a certain level of financial independence and generally speaking have some free time to dedicate for that sort of activity. However that’s not a reality for most people. People tend to their daily lives their children constantly looking for new opportunities, they may even go abroad to find a job. All of those things keep them busy. There are other factors as well, like lack of English. If it’s not the immediate family but some distant relatives we usually don’t make the effort. Most of the Polish families have some sort of story about distant relatives that they have lost contact with, but that usually happened during the war or right afterwards and if the family did not have contact they are like strangers now. Anyway you know how frustrating it could be when you constantly have some kind of obstacle in your way or just hit dead end. So kipping this in mind don’t get discouraged by the fact that no one is looking for you. After all someone has to make the effort.

Very common. In Polish it's Kurka (pieprznik jadalny) - (summer-fall ) June-September in hardwood and coniferous forests. There are forms which differ somewhat in color. Chanterelle is very characteristic specie and difficult to be mistaken. However it looks very similar to False Chanterelle ( which is slightly toxic). If you look under the cap you can see vivid orange and it has no smell. Also very similar to Hedgehog (Edible) in Polish kolczak, it has tooth-like surface under cap. Sometimes they even grow close together. If you know your mushrooms you should be safe, but if it's your first time mushroom hunting in any region it's always a good idea to go with someone local or at least ask someone local.

Lithuania at that time was not Christian. He became a Grand Duke of Lithuania in 1377, but the transition was not smooth. There were others who claimed the title, mainly his brothers. But the biggest fight he faced was with his uncle Kiejstutem and his sons.

In 1381 he was deposed for a short while by his uncle but regain the control and imprisoned him and his son Witold. His uncle died shortly after that but his main rival Witold escaped to the territory held by Teutonic Knights still claiming the title.

Facing the danger of being deposed by Witold with the help of Teutonic Knights, the only recourse was some kind of a union with Poland. In 1385 that union was signed. It was stipulated that He the Grand Duke of Lithuania will marry a Polish queen Jadwiga (who was a Queen of Poland since 1384). In exchange Lithuania will become catholic and will be united with Poland, but Jagiełło will regain the lands that he have lost to the Crown (Pomorze held by Teutonic Knights). In 1386 there was a baptismal, his wedding to Jadwiga and coronation of Władysław Jagiełło as King of Poland.

In one single stroke he has consolidated his power, eliminated his rivals and became stronger than ever. In 1387 the Christianization of Lithuania has begin according to the agreement (his brother Skirgielle was supervising this process) and in 1392 it was Witold.

As a ruler of a pagan state he was in a constant danger of losing his domain to the Christian Kingdom and He knew it. At the end it’s just Politics as usual.
