Language / What's the best "Learn Polish" book? [33]
It'd be great if it came with software or CD's.
It doesn't have to be modern, but I've tried software based programs like Rosetta Stone and honestly didn't catch on because it tells you phrases but doesn't really go in depth. I'd rather have a good old book.
I have some polish-speaking relatives so I can ask questions and I already know pronounciation because I've been hearing English and Polish around the house for all my life.
I'm not impatient and I'm quite studious, so don't base it on time restrictions, just quality.

Yes, supposedly racism was to be extinguished by communism, but the lesser Soviet and communist states were still heavilly anti-polish. Look at Ukraine.
I'd say the Nazi's were more of a direct threat, while the Soviets were more subtle, but perhaps just as dangerous.

I think a while ago there was a large number of indian people who lived in poland and merged with the general population so that's why some "polish" people are tan-skinned.

Wow. I worked outside a couple of days ago laying mulch down from 9 in the morning till 9 at night and I got a nice farmer's tan. I look like a dang redneck now.
Witek, there were always slavs there. Tatars and Indian people settled there along with some muslim people. That's why you have some tan skinned polaks. I am generally white as the driven snow, but I have a friend and she's tan (like constantly) and she says she's 100% polish. She's slready taken though. :(

Hitler provided a promise of economic stability, which he kept after taking power. He publicly introduced his racist policies after gaining power.
My great aunt told me stories about how she saved a family of jews by hiding them in their barn. They ended up saving the jews and keeping in touch with them until they reached America. My great aunt died and not one member of the jewish family sent a person to it offering condolences dispite her saving their lives. That pissed everyone in my family off.
History does naturally favor the allies, I mean, after all they got to write the history books.
