Language / words overused in Polish language [40]

without a doubt it has to be ''kurwa'' Such a dreszarsz word

Finally someone who agrees. We've noticed the deterioration in language (and dress sense) since 2004. Before then, words like this were rarely heard outside the various polskie kluby, now it's everywhere - even next to the cheese counter in Tescos lol.

A recent Polish girlfriend just couldn't seem to stop ending sentences with "Szok!!!!" and "Katastrofa!!!" for some reason. haha :)

Life / How to obtain EHIC (European Health Insurance Card,) in Poland? [41]

Anyone who's daft enough to go abroad without adequate medical insurance needs their head seeing to, imo.

And the EHIC website is pretty clear:

The EHIC may not cover persons for all medical costs incurred, so you are strongly advised to also arrange travel insurance to ensure that you are covered for all possible eventualities. Furthermore, you will not be covered by an EHIC if the main purpose of your travel is to receive medical treatment.

And the NHS is pretty good actually.

History / 20th anniversary of abolishing food coupons in Poland! [2]

Monthly, you could get:
Two kilos of sugar, two and half kilos of meat for intellectual workers and 4 for physical workers and kids. Half of litre of vodka, exchangeable for a bottle of imported wine. 300 grams of washing powder, two bars of soap, 100grams of chocolate-like product, 250 grams of sweets, 30 litres of gasoline, 1 kilo of rice or grits, 1 kilo of flour, 12 boxes of cigarettes.

Doesn't look that bad if you think about it. 4kg of meat? I'm not sure I could afford that much, even now. The "100g of chocolate-like product" would p*ss me off, though. I can eat 1/2kg of chocolate A DAY sometimes! haha

Mind you, as stated on the site above, holding a coupon doesn't necessarily guarantee you'll get what you're entitled to ;)

wtf are "grits", though????

UK, Ireland / Migrant workers face rental block [59]

Three agents rejected a Polish worker sent by the BBC, while a BBC employee was allowed to view the properties.

Is this the same BBC which gives a voice to people like Giles Coren?

UK, Ireland / Migrant workers face rental block [59]

I dont know about Polish tenants in the UK but i can vouch for them over here, ive been involved in property management a little. Out of 15 lets ive had around 4 not pay rent and just move out never to be seen again, 2 tenants running prostitute establishments, one i was required to assit the Police, after that i just gave up.

Most have had big dogs which trash the apartments, cigarette burns in sofas, water leaks through unreported issues, stolen furniture etc etc. never again.

I'd love to sympathise, but considering that I've had to threaten every landlord/lettings agent I've dealt with over the past 10 years with County Court proceedings, just to get my deposit back (despite often leaving flats in better condition than they were left for me, and not breaking any terms of the agreement) I'm afraid that I'm the last person who will sympathise. I'm still owed nearly £2000 by one landlord/lettings agent, and I'm getting ready to prepare my next case. I'm fed up of these thieving c***s keeping me poor. **** landlords.

And the same Giles Coren who needs somebody in the UK to make a formal complaint about him employing illegal immigrants?

You don't get the hypocrisy of it, do you.

Life / Polish Integration with other Nationalities [150]

The only country where I can see a problem with multiculturalism is France, where they have issues with their Muslim population

Wtf???? Never mind Poland, you really NEED to visit the UK if that's what you think - you haven't seen anything yet!

As far as my dissatisfaction with Poland's ethnic composition, I think this homogeneity is unfortunate seeing as Poland was historically multi-ethnic

Multi-ethnic, yes. Multi-racial... no.

When did Poland last have a significant Black population?
Or, for that matter, how many African countries have a significant White population?

And why isn't anyone encouraging multiculturalism in Africa? What's wrong with a few million whites moving to Africa and sleeping with your women? I bet you would display your "dissatisfaction" with that rather quickly. I bet you also have no problem with "homogeneity" in Black countries either.

How dare you express "dissatisfaction with Poland's ethnic composition" - if that's not racist, i don't know what is! Poland is Poland, and Poles are White, Slavic, Europeans - face it! I have no problem with the "ethnic composition" of Black African Zulu/Zhosa/Kikuyu etc regions, so how dare you insult MY motherland!!!!

Language / Polish Language Pronunciation - Example Words and Phrases [178]

It sounds the same as a normal "N" to me, so that's how I say it.

Then you are saying it wrong. We Poles know how to use it.

Honestly, this letter is used so rarely that it doesn't even matter

If it didn't matter, it wouldn't exist. Shame we can't say that about most of your posts on here.

i thought this accent changed the vowel sound in front of it ? Gdańsk, Państwo, Amerykańska?

It affects the sound of the "accented" letter more, really, but whereas you know there is an important difference, Mr. P.C. Leftie doesn't think this "matters" :D

UK, Ireland / Any Irish have child with Polish partners? [44]

A Polish school in Ireland is insane, they should be made to integrate.

Should "Welsh guys in Poland" be forced to integrate as well?

Yes you can, everyone has to be the first immigrant somewhere ;) Maybe in 5 years time, there will be a (quote) "A Welsh school in Poland is insane, they should be made to integrate" thread on here, because there were only a few Welsh in Poland in 2009, but things changed!

Besides, the Welsh were the original British, so why shouldn't they be in the UK?

USA, Canada / Why Americans think that nobody likes them? [185]

as for WMD, lets be honest, of course there were none. At least Saddam was removed, its not like its the Allies fault if the rest of Iraq cannot pull together, let them kill each other. Its over religion and rubbish like that, when all the stupid people have killed each other that will leave the ones who can live in peace.

Which is possibly why Saddam probably should have been left alone - the situation is hardly much better now, but at least he knew how to keep his people in line. All the Iraq war has done is swapped one devil who understood the culture, for a devil who doesn't.
