USA, Canada / The best POLISH FESTIVAL ever!! - San Diego Oct. 13-14 [36]

Agreed all around guys. The festival just wasn't itself this year. Still fun but the new rules and what not was disappointing. It was a lot more fun in the past when you could walk around with your beer, even when I was still underage at the time.

I've probably been attending this event for 8 years now, whoa

Easily the best place i've ever seen in California for their selection of beer. Not only do they have all kinds of different choices from all around the world but they will even contain a little description and rating of each beer

History / Are Germans going to pay for WW2? [180]

The polish infantry was consistantly annihilated by the german offensive, post 1939 the only polish efforts that contributed to the allies war on germany was the polish resistance and a handful of crack pilots flying in the raf.

Poland battled much longer than France which was supposed to have the best military in the world at the time. Poles did all they could and more. Comparing our military to Germany's heading into the war is ridiculous

History / Why has Poland been attacked so often by its neighbors? [180]

Well at the beginning the new US states were stuck in the middle of French and Spanish territory. Which became once the French Revolution began. That's one of the reasons why the Louisiana Purchase was so important. On top of that there were a bunch of aggressive Indian tribes rightfully attacking Americans stealing their land.

Point taken but there's a difference between being in the middle of territory's/colonies and the homeland. Plus the Indians were so behind on technology, basically military....they blew it.

Poland never colonized unlike their European brothers, on one hand it's something to be proud of that we didn't contribute to suffering and so on but on the other hand maybe the nation would be richer these days.

Life / Polish Youth - are they violent? [71]

From my travels I'd say it's about the same as all other European nations. Obviously some cities worse than others or some situations where alcohol is going overboard.

Living in the United States, it's DEFINITELY a lot worse here. You step on someones shoes at a bar here and your gonna get atleast a look if not comment. You could easily get confronted and told to meet them in the back alley.

Back to the original post....your talking about Warsaw the capital city of Poland, so OBVIOUSLY there crime will be worse and people won't be as comforting in such a large city. Same thing you would experience if not worse in cities like Berlin, New York or Washington D.C/Baltimore. The bigger the city the more violence/crime, it goes without saying.

Life / Why can't Poland recruit Polish soccer stars? [42]

I have been disapointed all around in Poland in sports. Why are other Eastern European countries, ones that have much younger histories than ourselves, doing so much better in sports. You see them respresented in American sports like football, basketball, hockey and even baseball but not at all by Poles.

I've had this discussion with my parents and they feel that it is political. Dating back to the 80's when Poland was busy leading the fight against Communism, other Eastern European nations were simply sitting back and waiting. While we were busy striking and cutting costs for sports, the other nations were not. Now fast forward and were way back when it comes to sports and I'm not sure if it's just a lack of focus on sports a lack of funding of sports or all issues combined

News / Kids of the Polish immigrants returning to Poland: New Polish Generation? [15]

the kids of these immigrants would move back to their country with an american education to help rebuild all which was destroyed .

Great idea but is it/will it really happen? More likely that those people immigrating to Euro Union countries for education and jobs will return.

I've tried to find the statistics on the number of European immigrants that actually end up returning but no luck. Unless you had a great job lined up in Poland why would you return right now? Not quite time I'd say

But i've always enjoyed the idea of me hitting it big here in America and returning to Poland to open up some amazing company and helping out my fellow peeps....

hahah I didn't even know who he was, but I think I heard a story on the Polish channel I have on my satellite.

I think i'm too Americanized Sports wise. Other than Futbol I don't get any other coverage. I guess that might be the answer to my question....Polska doesn't participate much in American sports

News / Kids of the Polish immigrants returning to Poland: New Polish Generation? [15]

Hopefully things will become reasonably better with the EU.

From what I remember my aunt telling me was that if we joined the Union things would be very tough at first but improve over time. That's why the vote was so close as to whether we should join.

The timing isn't the best and we could get better offers if we held out.

News / SHOULD POLAND/EUROPE BE WORRIED ABOUT RUSSIA?? [90]

From my understanding were burning European bridges by siding with America in so many circumstances. Why are we installing an American missile defense system on our land again? You have to ask yourself

It's obvious the representatives that Polish citizens have nominated are being handed American money in their pockets of some sort.

News / SHOULD POLAND/EUROPE BE WORRIED ABOUT RUSSIA?? [90]

The amount of missiles isn't the issue, why are we siding with a country half way across the globe and pissing off our neighbors is something you have to think about. As an American citizen - what has U.S ever done for Poland? If anything we are putting ourselves in danger by siding with them

News / SHOULD POLAND/EUROPE BE WORRIED ABOUT RUSSIA?? [90]

I use u.s because I was born in Poland and all my family is still there. Americans consider me Polish although I've lived here 20 of my 24 years in the United States but Poles consider me American. I myself identify myself as Polish

News / SHOULD POLAND/EUROPE BE WORRIED ABOUT RUSSIA?? [90]

where'd you get the number 83 from haha

To answer your question, no it doesn't but since when is Polish pride a bad thing? I see too many individuals all but turn their back on their Polish heritage and take on America's once they immigrate to the U.S.

I'm 24, lived in Poland my first 4 years of my life, i've visited 5 times throughout my life (gets expensive flying from San Diego) each time staying atleast 2 months and all my family lives there. My parents are also expecting to return once they retire. While I agree overall with your saying who really cares? I've noticed atleast the Poles i've encountered here in the U.S bicker and fight over stupid **** too often (like this). Too much competition when we all come from the same motherland.

Love / Polish men vs German men: Who is hotter? [513]

Germany's biggest bachelor Podoloski is Polish.....so of course the vote is obvious!!!

All jokes aside, I agree with Wroclaw Boy when it comes to the German girls. Very disappointing, Eastern European girls are MUCH better in general

News / POLAND TO SIGN US MISSILE SHIELD DEAL TONIGHT [239]

Wonder if this will speed up the process of getting Poland on the U.S Visa Waiver list ;-) probably not..

seriously, what the **** is that all about? How is Czech higher up the pole than we are?

To me the bottom line was that we were screwed either way.

Don't put the shield up: Show weakness to Russia, continue to be bossed around by our neighbor and in case of an emergency we won't get the backing up the Euro Nation...we've seen it happen over and over in our history

Put the sheid up: It's expensive and angers Russia but screw them. They've been back dooring us for too long and obviously don't respect us. It's time for a new age of Polish history, one where we have an Ace under our sleeve if anything were to happen.

Do I believe U.S.A knew Georgia's attack of South Ossetia would fuel Russia and push us into signing the deal - YES

Did Russia's over reaction push us into signing the deal - YES

Russia has only itself to blame in my opinion. They are aware of the history of this region and they're back door treatment of Poland on issues like oil is ********. They do not treat us like allies so why should we side with them over America? We needed someone else in our corner and now we have one. We will never allow ourselves to be attacked on both fronts while the rest of Europe watches again.

News / What did Poland get out of the wars and struggles for others? [1108]

as a result, Poles are known for their valour, courage, patriotism, pride, loyalty sense of honour and dignity and willingness to help the underdog. Is that a lot or too little? I reckon nations with a shopkeeper's mentality would say it doesn't pay.

Great post man!

Maybe we will always be over shadowed by our strong neighbors Germany and Russia, no other Eastern European Block country can ever say anything to us because we were the ones that grabbed ourselves by the balls and did something to change.

There will always be Poles vs Germans, Poles vs Russians, something any other Eastern European Block can't say. They speak about OUR wars and what WE did, because they sat on the sidelines like they always will.

History / Question about Post WW2 Polish Jews etc [42]

I could never figure out how Jews gain so much wealth post World War II. Considering all there belongings had to be the ones they carried and they didn't have something like banking to hold onto there wealth.....where did it come from, how was it transported or made post WW2?

This going by the assumption Jews weren't much wealthier than there Polish/Russians citizens.

I've always been baffled by this. It's not like Poland somehow became wealthy post WW2 so how/where did this Jewish wealth come from?

Is it the cooperation with America and more precisely American Jews? This to me would make the most sense. Anyway I've never understood how two joined populations of people like Poles and Jewish Poles could go through something like the Holocaust together and the percentage that ends up emigrating to the Middle East of all places ends up being MUCH more wealthy years later.

History / Poland Betrayed in WW2 [243]

just a quick post before coffee

polish history tells us they were right royally bottom buggered by germany, russia and the uk...

which only leads to one question... what sort of p*ssy nation are they?

Poland for whatever reason you want to use (too pussy/too nice/too fair) never exploited other nations. If I remember correctly they are the only European nation to not hold any slaves. Yes Poland did also have former power that could have very easily done so but they did not. All the wealthy nations today heavily exploited a group of people in there past and involved some kind of slavery.
