I did hear of someone in Poland actually rebuilding a fully functional and flying replica of a P11. I wish I knew more detail.

I never saw a single muscle car at all when I was there but that was quite a few years ago. Plenty of newer Fords GM and Chrysler stuff though. I cant imagine how much it would cost to fill the tank of a ripping 440 with the gas prices there! :P

zankel - speaking as an American who's traveled abroad, please don't ever believe or trust the media or many politicians. They will dredge up the past, twist the present, cite negative facts only and ignore positive, reignite old prejuidices, or do anything to sell newspapers or drive popular opinion. "The boogieman effect".

As an American who's traveled extensively in Europe I can honestly say that at the moment we (Americans) seem to be the biggest "boogieman", trust me on that one!

I have many Polish friends and I am of Polish descent myself, no Pole that I know hates Germans. Matter of fact, Poles seem to be some of the most open-minded folks out there.

Trust faces, and experiences and not the media! :^P

Yes this one is tricky as I cannot find anything that matches very well. I was thinking that maybe it was mispelled by US Customs when first arriving here.

That was quite common from what I hear. "Poris" and "Poriz" would be pronounced nearly the same in Polish (no distiction between the s and z at the end of the word). To an English-speaking customs agent, an "s" would make more sense than a "z". So maybe it's Poriz? Like "Paulina Porizkova" for instance? Who knows..

The Czech word : "poříz" seems to somewhat fit, but then the pronunciation changes, no? I'm confused...:^P

very interesting! I do vaguely recall some talk of my grandmother's family being from Jelenia Gora. The proximity of Wałbrzych to Jelenia Gora is unmistakable.

Initially I focused on the 1st Independent Polish Parachute Brigade as that unit has always fascinated me for both military and political reasons, but over the years I've ended up assembling several different impressions as the group I'm a part of expanded. In addition to the Para Brigade, I have impressions for '39, AK, 2nd Corps, and 10th Dragoons/1st Armoured Division.

I was under the impression that there were several thriving Polish units in the UK?

History / Poland war propaganda poster - can anyone explain this picture? [292]

This poster was intended to demoralize the Poles. It's propaganda, like the most effective kind, contains an amount of truth however exaggerated and intended to play on emotion.

It essentially blames the English ("Anglio") for the destruction that was being rained down on them.
What it means: "England" (not sure why not "UK) betrayed the alliance between the two countries thereby causing Poland's situation. Not too complicated.
