Work / Job opportunities in Poland for a foreigner? (other than a teacher) [175]

I agree with ukpolska, i'm Australian living in Wroclaw, and i can tell you 50zl per one on one lesson is the going rate, its more if you have a TESOL or UNI degree. And I pay 30zl per hour for Polish lesson's. Thats with a qualified teacher here to.

USA, Canada / Health Care - from Poland to USA [5]

Lef, As long as you have residancy in Poland you are able to get all the health care a polish citizen does, it does not matter if you work or not.

Love / I'm upset - you encourage foreigners to take the Polish women away [94]

Well getting back to the point, i'm not polish and married a polish lady, who had already left poland. Love is love and you find it in the strangest places, men are not trying to steal away your polish women. You met someone and something clicks. Many people from different countries marry, its a part of life, yes we all here about polish women marrying foreign men, and i'm one of them, but we have moved back to poland. Poland like all other countries with open borders will see changes from old ways and values. There is nothing wrong with this, it has been happening for years throughout the world.

Hey Fisz,

things couldnt be better, lovely wife, great job, just bought ourselves a nice plot of land to oneday build our over priced house on if you listen to all the so called experts in here, but i cant complain. for me yes things are different being that my polish is crap, but atleast im learing slowly. work i found quite easy, actually quickier than my wife. I suppose we are lucky in that we own our flat already and have renovated it, so its just bills and holidays.

if your thinking, just do it,

G'day Lef,

yes there are some things i miss about oz, but i have travelled for many years with work, so its not much of a difference.

Job wise, the first job i was offered was as an English teacher, they didnt care about my TESOL cert, they just need english native speakers.

I actually work at te moment as a Technician on CNC plasma machines, travelling throughout Europe.

Real Estate / Apartment purchase in Poland [226]

This was one of the best threads i have read, no arguements this time, just great questions and answers, Hope all goes well for you Frank. My wife and I have just purchased some land in Wroclaw, and have renovated our flat, the pricing does depend where you live and which side of the city. I think with Wroclaw, a lot depends of the roads and access out of the city, for pricing i mean. I think you are correct in your last thread about all the extra taxes and charges, i'm sure that was similar to what we payed, a little less on the agent, but thats always nego. Any questions please ask away if i can be of any help to anyone.

Hi telfonitika,

i think you should be able to buy an apartment in Wroclaw for around the 230zl mark, it all depends how far out of the city you want.

Real Estate / Apartment purchase in Poland [226]

Thats good, there has finally been some good info on here without people telling each other what they think of them, which as you said is great, have you decided exactlly where in Poland, is it Wroclaw, if so how did you make that decision, I personally love the city and surrounding area, beautiful parks and i think the price is ok.

Real Estate / Apartment purchase in Poland [226]

Zakopane is beautiful, we are heading there over the chrissy break for a week with friends, should be fun, went there when i first came to Poland on holidays a few years ago. I will ask my wife tonight what she used to look around at property, as we just bought ourselves a block of land to hopefully build on one day. We also have a small flat that we have renovated, about 15 minutes from the centre of Wroclaw by tram, i think it would be worth around 200zl or so at the moment, not sure, but i think if your interested in the area you will find something.

Life / Moving to Zakopane [18]

Hi KLK have you thought of putting a gas tank on your property for heating and cooking, the outlay at the start is a bit more expensive, but long term i would think it would pay for itself and be better than trying to find wood.

Life / Having a Baby in Poland [28]

MTA there is very good private health care systems in place in Poland if you think you will need it, but there public system is great, i have had no problems heading to the doctors, the only good thing about private is you can see the same doctor all the time and the waiting time is short.

Travel / What attracts tourist to Poland? [54]

Hey lef, i was from Melbourne too, Glenroy to be exact, had a great Polish shop there, where the wife and i would go shopping, also a good one in Dandy and the Vic Market. Poland is full of things to see for the tourist, not just the beautiful women, great vodka. I have had many friends visit now i am here, and i think they all would come back.

i don't think there is something like that in Poland, yes there is beautiful places to see for the tourist like you mentioned, but i dont think i would go to say Zakapone, or the Polish seaside every year.

There is a little butcher shop in Sunshine, that my wife said has the best Polish meats and hams, she said it was like it was homemade 50 years ago, real taste.
