davidpeake 14 | 451 10 Jan 2007 / #1Hi does anyone know of any English pubs in Wroclaw, besides the Irish pub, looking to see if i can watch some sport there. thanks
Wroclaw 44 | 5,369 10 Jan 2007 / #2David.Have you tried the English pub [John Bull] It's only 20 feet from the Irish pub. Highlander is also in Rynek. Why do you need an English pub for sport ?As you are living here why don't you get yourself an 'N' decoder [sat tv] Then you'll get your programmes in HD. Get a bigger than normal dish if you go for this option then you'll get more channels. And when are we all [Wroclaw gang] going out for a beer ?
bossie 1 | 123 10 Jan 2007 / #3And when are we all [Wroclaw gang] going out for a beer ?How about this Saturday? Or any other weekend? I suppose there are going to be more than three of us but even if, why shouldn't we?English pubs in WroclawHave you tried Haggis in Swidnicka? They've got this big flat screen and the place is nice, near the strict centre, some 100m from the Opera House.
Bartolome 2 | 1,085 10 Jan 2007 / #4Have you tried the English pub [John Bull] It's only 20 feet from the Irish pub. Highlander is also in Rynek. Those are names of two pubs in Opole as well.
OP davidpeake 14 | 451 11 Jan 2007 / #5thanks for your help guys, i have sat tv, just dont get the bbc channels to watch the cricket thats all. why don't we meet this Saturday night for a beer?
OP davidpeake 14 | 451 11 Jan 2007 / #8ok, Wroclaw, you no your town the best, where will we meet and what time, for dinner and drinks or just drinks
Wroclaw 44 | 5,369 11 Jan 2007 / #9Actually Sudheer knows the town best. Why don't we try 'Haggis' then at least you can check out the flat screen TV.Bossie can show us where it is. Please Bossie.Meet at Fredro's monument at 19:30. Yes or No ?I'd rather go for a drink than a meal. To be honest drinks make it easier, if anyone wants to leave early.
OP davidpeake 14 | 451 11 Jan 2007 / #10All sounds good to me, will be at Fredro's at 19.30 with my bald head.
bossie 1 | 123 11 Jan 2007 / #11OK, all fine, but can you guys tell me where Fredro is?...Personally I'd prefer to meet in front of the Opera house, everyone knows where it is plus you can protect youself from the rain (it's raining now...). If not, just locate Mr. Fredro for me.Or we could just meet there, it's inside the Podwale department store, entrance from Swidnicka. So?
OP davidpeake 14 | 451 12 Jan 2007 / #12bossie, Fredro is the momument in the main square, the ones people get there photo with, not far from the ice skating
Wroclaw 44 | 5,369 12 Jan 2007 / #13bossie, David,I agree to the Opera House at 19:30, Saturday. Do we all agree ?
OP davidpeake 14 | 451 12 Jan 2007 / #14ok thats good for me, the wife will know where that is. I think i stayed at a Hotel across the road from it the first time i came to Poland

Frank 23 | 1,183 13 Jan 2007 / #23Sudheer, thats a disgrace letting the Wroclaw chapter down..........have you no shame????!!PS Send us a few pics as Mr McHaggis/Hammer....lol
bossie 1 | 123 13 Jan 2007 / #24don't bother stroking his tongue...It might be funny though, just picture someone trying to do it... :)And since we're not all going to be there, I suggest organizing something later early enough for everyone to know in time.
Wroclaw 44 | 5,369 14 Jan 2007 / #26The meeting went very well. It was a little difficult at first because we didn't have seats. It's not easy to have a conversation with everyone stood in a line at the bar. Anyway, after ten minutes or so we found a table and the words began to flow. I didn't notice any pauses in the conversation. Each of us had something new to say and it was nice to learn from other people's experiences.
Frank 23 | 1,183 14 Jan 2007 / #27So did you misse me Wroclaw..?..or does the phrase...."like a hole in the head" come to mind?....lol
Wroclaw 44 | 5,369 14 Jan 2007 / #28Frank,I'm sure you would have enjoyed it. It was relaxed conversation with a couple of beers. And yes, it would have been nice to see you there. I'd love to see all of us together for an evening out.Mrs W sends her love.
Frank 23 | 1,183 14 Jan 2007 / #29Steady on Wroclaw.........this is a Polish board after all......!How many turned up......?...all now living there?.....any repeatable stories re property...etc?Regards to Madame W too....:)
Wroclaw 44 | 5,369 14 Jan 2007 / #30We didn't speak much about property. Maybe five minutes.Four of us in attendance: Mr & Mrs W, bossie, David P.Please, drop the 'e' from madame.:)
