UK, Ireland / Stop the Polish from entering the UK (yet another thread) [192]

i m sure this eddien is not english

I disagree. He's a small-minded English xenophobe.
He's also deluded into thinking his views aren't in the overwhelming minority.
English people do some of the sh!tty jobs too.

UK, Ireland / Stop the Polish from entering the UK (yet another thread) [192]

My job, like many people's, depends on a strong, vibrant economy - people working, spending money and buying and selling property. Without immigration, the economy would slow down and jobs would disappear. To kick out the Poles, Britain would first have to democratically vote to leave the EU, then take the consequences of more difficult relations with the rest of Europe, and a stagnating economy.

I didn't ask him.

That makes it even worse. How impolite of you not to ask.

It's not the way I or anyone I know would treat anyone lying drunk in the street.
I must just be a bit more refined.

Polish fools in the UK

There will always be some.
Behaviour of Polish people in the UK is less of a problem than some British tourists in Poland.
There are alcoholiday tourists who are a shame to the rest of Britain.
I've been to pubs and restaurants in Poland without a problem, but then, I've not been there with other British persons.
I'm usually well behaved, and often quite sober!
Some British people have a problem with any foreigners working in the UK. Not just Poles.

Firstly take your drunk fools from Poland

I'm too drunk to leave the UK.
I try to leave - I end up walking round in circles.
Then I find a kebab shop.

british nationals have had enough

Your opinion is fairly insignificant though.

Food / Is lamb big in Poland? [53]

I served my Polish flatmate a roast lamb dinner recently.
He asked what the meat was and I told him lamb.
He told me he'd never eaten lamb before!

As far as meats go, the quantities I eat run in roughly this order:
1. Pig
2. Cow
3. Sheep
4. Chicken

How does this compare with a typical Polish diet?
If anyone puts donkey in their list, I'll give you a good solid hoofing!
Does Poland have a low ovine population?

Life / Wroclaw Tips about food, Wi-Fi, and watching sport [6]

visit some Arabic kebab points

Are these any good?
German kebabs seem to be made differently to British ones, even though their still all mostly Turkish.
I've been told that kebabs in Ireland are generally not very good - they're sold in a McDonalds style.
Are they Arabic kebabs in Poland? Here we find Turkish, Kurdish, Armenian, still a few Greek ones...

Life / WHY POLISH PEOPLE DON'T USE THEIR NATIVE FIRST NAME WHEN ABROAD? [136]

nicknames

So often, you instantly sense the uneasiness with which they use their adopted names.

spelled incorrectly

Mine is a Scottish/Irish name. Usually spelt wrongly.
It ends with an 'r' which is not usually pronounced in English.
Polish people nearly always pronounce the 'r' (which sounds nice),
probably because with a neutral mid-vowel, it sounds too much like an 'a' at the end.
I'm not saying any more.

Life / My neighbours in Poland are stealing all my things [180]

I can not discuss other countries as I have no experience

But you do (sort-of) discuss other countries - you always say they are better.
A bit more experience might show you where you are wrong.
Go forth and experience.

I did, I wrote the book called Lady In Red.

Copying some Chris DeBurgh lyrics in crayon doesn't count as writing a book.

UK, Ireland / Polish woman shot in London. [57]

I heard on the BBC that most guns are entering the UK through ports such as Falmouth.
The regional border security teams were moved away from places like this to protect major airports such as Heathrow,
leaving many ports virtually unchecked.

My condolences to the family and friends of the victim of this sick crime.
Rest in peace.

Love / HOW CAN POLISH WOMEN KEEP A BLACK MAN? [84]

well than woul that b better 4 u lot: how can a woman keep a man?

Yes and no.
I have some knowledge of how I, as a man, can keep a woman.
I also have some knowledge of how a woman can keep a man (me).
It just doesn't always work.

If it doesn't matter, why did you ask.
Racial harmony matters to everyone.
Stereotyping helps no-one.
What kind of answer were you expecting here anyway?

Polonia / Polonia in scandinavian countries [23]

Cultural differences can cause a lot of difficulties because the differing values can prevent cohesive society.
Not all cultures are equal, but I don't know of any that don't at least have something good to offer.

Muslim countries other religions are not looked well upon

Two baptist churches in a small, well-to-do English village I know look upon eachother as infidels!

I know a small number of Bahais who came from Iran and Iraq. Their religion, being much younger than either Islam or Christianity (neither is it a dodgy sect) is being legislated against in Iran, Egypt, and probably a few other Islamic countries too. These countries' views on much older religions such as Zoroastrianism, seem to be slightly better, but they have a long way to go.

The opinions of individuals are usually more than balanced out by the prevailing attitudes of cultural minorities' religious and community practises, especially when they feel under threat. It does seem strange how some groups of people react to countries that shelter them from opression and war in their own countries.

I don't think the age-old mixture of Finns, Swedes and Sami has been able to teach the Finnish state much about different ethnic groups or different cultures making Finland their home. But I'd be interested to find out more, as I find Finland to be an intereseting country.

Unfortunately, there are no simple answers.

Polonia / Polonia in scandinavian countries [23]

gotten a portion of the Negro runaways

often committing crimes

of them aren't capable of living in a Western society

But then you add:

I'm -not- a racist

Yes, you are racist.
Why have you bothered to say that you aren't withh all of your racist comment here.

Crime is commited by people, not by vast swathes of humamnkind that share certain characteristics or origins.
I don't know how it works in Finland - my experience is with the UK.
It is the fault of the state that accepts these people, ghettoises them, prevents them from working, pushes them into the benefits system so that when they can work, they've not encouraged to.

Polonia / Polonia in scandinavian countries [23]

ethnic clean

I'd prefer to call it not ethnically diverse.
The opposite of clean has to be dirty,
and I would never use that word to describe a mix of races or ethnicities.

Finland is, however, home to Finns, Sami and Swedes.
There are also Estonians, other Finno-Ugrians from various parts of Russia, and a few Tatars and Jews.
These days there are also people from other European countries, also some Somali refugees.
Compared to other European countries, Finland is not very ethnically diverse.

UK, Ireland / Polish Thoughts on Britain and the British [273]

Just that I am Polish and live and work in the UK! As I mentioned a great country!

I'm always happy to hear positive comments.
The most negative comments seem to be from the occasional British visitor to the site who see the Polish people as a problem. I'm fairly sure they're a minority.

I do wonder how Poland really sees Britain these days.

I stayed with a Polish family for a few days about seven years ago.
I browsed their record collection and saw a lot of Yardbirds and early Pink Floyd.
That was quite heart-warming, but there must be too many negative experiences of migrant workers who return to Poland with disillusionment in what the UK had to offer.

I'm not asking for arse-licking comments about how fantastic we British are because I know Britain is not the fantastic place some of us think it is, or criticism based on the opinions of certain people who have posted nasty anti-Polish comments on this forum, but I'd like to know what kind of thoughts Poles really have about the place.

News / Black Immigrant living in Poland infects dozens of women with HIV [174]

Tornado0000, I totally agree.
I'd hope we'd all have heard of similar cases to the one that caused this ugly thread
where the perpetrator was white, oriental, southern, northern, eastern, western...
It happens. I don't tarnish all with a size 9 shoe size for the actions of one size 9 individual...

its a kind of identification tag i guess

I can think of much better ways to identify myself.

My friends are of various different nationalities and races.
Some of these are British, some are Polish, German or something else.
It really doesn't matter.

Good people's goodness shines through, no matter what background they have.
Bad people's badness stinks whatever their origin may be.

espana

Do you really know the colour of the skin of every poster on PF?
And why should you even care?
If someone speaks sense, they speak sense.
If they don't, then you can either argue or ignore.
What does race have to do with it?
Does race truely exist in the modern world?
