USA, Canada / Good Polish/American Restaurants in Chicago area [90]

you outta give it a try..are there alot of Poles by you?

Actually, Erie,PA used to be almost all Polish and Italian along with many Irish. We built the Erie Canal :)

The Polish traditions and flavors can be seen all around the city. Many people know of the meats, and love the food. Many priests are also Polish. There is a very nice church that is completely Polish. It has paintings of Polish saints, kings, and important people. Their stain-glass windows even have Polish writings. :)

They even have a copy of "The Black Madonna" (Madona? Maddona?)

It's a lovely place, was there for confession yesterday :)

I dont know never tried it

It might be that cake with the spiral of jelly throughout it....hmmm

USA, Canada / Good Polish/American Restaurants in Chicago area [90]

how about restaurants

Nope....I keep telling my mom we should start a deli. SOOO many people want to try Polish food, and my mom bakes and cooks sometimes for her company picnincs, and the people love it and take some home to their families. Everyone's always begging us to make them something :)

It could work out.....people would love the food :)

Well we have Ubarniak Bros.

They are a German store that sell some Polish meats, people love the place. But we need a friggin bakery. We can make some nice cakes. (Bab-key, Pone-ch-key, etc.)

I can't spell, so I sounded them out :)

*Bab-key* is the plural of *bab-ka* right?? I'm thinking of that bread, with the seeds in it....or is it completely different....i have a bad time memorizing the names of all the great stuff I eat. I just love the tastes :)

News / GERMAN PSYCHOPATHS INSULTING POLISH PEOPLE [95]

Matyjasz tells me that with the vulgar rabid insulting kraut-psycho I should use 'more facts, less insults.' Hm, really? So he spits out insults, and I should nicely and politely, pretending that he hasn't pissed me off, reply to him with 'facts'? Wrong! - Don't you know, Matty, that there's no discussion with a psychopath? Only insults can sometimes affect him. And, according to some, the very best manner of 'talking' with a psycho is with a baseball bat.

Honestly Puzzler, just shrug it off. I've been insulted plenty of times, and I never really lost it and went all out trying to put the other guy down as much as possible. I understand that you're pissed, but be the better man. Ignore him and he'll slowly lose interest in the forum and leave. People respect someone who knows not to fight about things that were said. Don't be offended by words. By him saying these things, it only means he's either jealous or afraid of us :)

Food / what is the best way to skin and cook a rabbit? [60]

Thats a billion bunnies saved from the rath of sapphire :)

I have seen the light. No more shall I eat the little bunnies. Although with a nice white wine sauce.......

Mmmmmm......wabbit :)

Do they eat road kill there like they do in some parts of the US? That's when a car hits an animal and it dies on the road.

You've been to Alabama.......

Ewwww..... I was thinking about a deer, a moose, or maybe about a raccoon... but rats? Ewwww....

Love / Polish Womens bodies [126]

Artur, your still young, still have time to find the one. what I am saying here is
only because he decided to make it public about her personal business. and she
isnt even aware of it. but how embarassing.

I think I might have found her, waaaayyy too early to tell though :)

I don't judge girls by looks alone, her voice, personality, how comfortable she is with herself, she has to be funny, kind, sweet, smart, etc.

If I ever have a problem with someone, I'll bring it up with them privately, not onto a forum like this guy. It was an invasion of privacy, and the girl has no idea that she's been talked about online. At least he didn't give a name.

History / Poland and why in the past it was so many times attacked [16]

It's human nature. In all of human kinds history, there has been fighting, death, and survival of the fittest. How many groups of people have come and gone trying to survive? Too many. Violence will never end, we are animals and animals are naturally violent, given the right circumstances.

News / Germans file WWII claims against Poland [198]

daf,
Was a rhetorical question and half joke,
Actually the Iranian Preseident (good luck spelling his name), he held a confereence in Iran and the Venezualean President Chavez attended it, I am sorry but there are alot of people who have actually come out and said this never happened

Actually larry, they never said it didn't happen, they just believe it dodn't happen on such a large scale. They think the actual numbers of dead Jews were close to 2 million rather than 6.

If a fourth of Poland's population can disappear in a single war, then 6 million Jews can be killed too. I have no idea where these Iranian and Venezuelan guys are getting their stuff, but they didn't see what went on. They heard stories. My family died. There's got rich off oil. They want to know what happened??? TAKE THEM TO AUSCHWITZ and show them what it looked like. Show them the chains where Jews, Poles, and Ukranians alike were tied to, show them the tables innocent people were tied to so "scientific" experiments could be performed on them, show them the chambers where millions died, and show them the ashes that still sit in the bottom of giant furnaces. They didn't burn wood for the hell of it, they burnt innocent people that were supposedly "inferior".

These guys can have all the meetings they want, but **** THE IRANIAN PRESIDENT!!!

News / Germans file WWII claims against Poland [198]

Does everyone else find this immoral?

I don't think it'll ever happen.

Thoughts?

And how many Poles were moved from Belarus, Ukrain, and Lithuania??? If they get their land back, then we'd have to redraw all of eastern europe back to its original boundaries so nobody else would complain.

There's no reason they should get their land back....how much would the Poles have to get just to make it all fair???

History / Katyn- forgiven and forgotten? [111]

Why forgive? Just honor the memory of the brave that died there that day. Don't move on from things like these. Would you honestly want someone to move on if you were killed with thousands of others??? No way! Honor their memory, pray for them, and make sure you pass this tradition on to your children :)

(I only used your post because I'm lazy and didn't want to find his post) :)

Life / Great "Baby Boom" in Poland [20]

Sociologists in Poland claim that there is no such phenomenon as “baby boom” right now. According to them, our society is ageing fast and young people have more and more hesitations to start a family. However, what strikes me whenever I am in a park or at the shopping malls is the fact that there is such a huge number of pregnant women and women with small children. What is even more interesting is that the women are either in their late twenties or much older.
I think that there are numerous reasons why we can talk about baby boom in Poland.

As of now, Poland has the smallest amount of births per family in the UE. (Around 1.23)

France has about 2.2 per family, which is considered to be the bare minimum to keep the population of France from falling :)

I expect there to be a huge baby boom in Poland in the next 5-10 years :)

The EU will help and make jobs, people will have money for families, and lots of Polish fmailies tend to have more than a few kids. Hell my mother's the only one in BOTH our Artur and her Sperka family to only have 2 kids. The rest all have at least 4 :)
