Life / PLEASE GIVE ME SOME ADVICES... Problem with Neighbour in Poland. [24]

How about packing and moving somewhere also? Better yet, going back where you came from?

Did you say un-Alphabet?
A friend and I were talking when I heard him say “alphabet” in a sentence. Yeah, the English word “alphabet” … pronounced “alphabet” … just like we say it in English. I said … “Alphabet?”And he said … “No, Un-Alphabet”.

So I said … “What the crap is an Un-Alphabet?”

In case you were wondering, the word אלפבית (alphabet) in Hebrew has no meaning, but the word אנאלפבית (pronounced Un-alphabet) means illiterate..

So, who are you dheva? Coming here to stir up a thing or two?

Life / "I love you" in Polish culture... [36]

I love it, I love you, I love the way it looks - are just phrases used freely, often to express liking of something or someone. We know it means just that.

I love the paint color I just picked to paint my condo with...but really, I just like it very much. I don't want to marry it and spend my life with it....that's a different kind of love. I guess, it always means just "I like'. Well...and there is the time when you stand in front of this gorgeous hunk... he says "I love you" as he looks deeply into your eyes, expecting the same.

The bucket of paint did not that :( yet, I love it!

I have to agree. Polish language makes a difference between liking and loving.

Food / Favorite Pierogi? [56]

with skwarki... it's made of smalec, little bit of salt (and maybe add some onion if you like)...

You forgot the bacon, girl. That's what makes it! :)

Personally, nothing beats cheese pierogi for me dripping with butter, boiled or pan fried. That's it. I like the others too, but I will gladly pass them for cheese. Cheese, cheese, cheese. And, don't forget the cheesecake. The real one, from farmer's cheese, raisins, fried orange peel, and 27 sticks of butter (ok, just kidding). The works! lol.

Yeah, spinnig the wheel was the highlight of the evening! I almost felt like Vanna White, when I got to spin the wheel :)
I think, I made people deaf ringing the bell!

He was a pretty good looking policeman. I could get arrested by him anytime, but hey - I was drinking...

...and The Beatles played.

Also, using a cane in self-defense, riding a broom in crowded places and dying hair fire engine red. I experienced all of it.
OK, just kidding.

We took some pictures...I believe, but where the heck is my camera?
Did I trade it for my last piwo? :)

Hey, hey...I'm up! Have been since about 10 a.m. hehehe.
Yes, it was a blast. It was so nice - we went there on Saturday and Sunday.

Warsaw8, it was great to meet you! We need more people coming out of their caves and meeting others.

Here is something interesting, which shows how small and unexpected the world can be. At the end of the night at the TOP, Warsaw8 mentioned that he is going to stop by to meet his buddies at a place called Edelweiss, a German restaurant in existence for about 20 years. He said that he likes the bartender there, a very nice woman and said her name...well, I worked with her when i came to this country! Needless to say, I had a great chance to stop by there too on my way home and I did...one more "piwo" that night for me :)

So, I met a PF member on the net who hangs out at a bar, where a friend of mine from way back works! He wasn't even born yet when we worked together!

If this not a wonderful circumstance, what is.

Anyway, I can tell you PF people that W8 is a very nice, level headed and interesting man. I wish I had a daughter... :)

So far he's got only two: Krysia and me (not really blond) :)

Warsaw8. I hope you can make it.

Travel / Is it safe to take a train in Poland? [35]

I rode a wonderful train from Warsaw to Wloszczowa last May. Fast, clean, great beverage service (expensive, ouch) and employing cute, humorous conductors. What does also anybody need?

Travel / Your favourite place/thing in each Poland's city:) [8]

My heart is in kieleckie...but my body and soul is in the USA.
Kielce got so beautiful since the time I left it...it was ugly and grey.
Now, it is pretty posh, colorful, plenty of bistro's and café's. Amazing.

Love / Sending flowers to Work of a Polish woman, ok? [12]

I would imagine any woman would be glowing to get flowers at work :)

Totally agree. Not to mention the jealousy and a revival of the office gossip that it would bring!

News / POLAND TO SIGN US MISSILE SHIELD DEAL TONIGHT [239]

Somehow nobody is rushing to help Georgia in the time of crisis now.... Do you think anybody from EU would rush to help Poland if Russia or Germany would invaded them? I'd rather see the shield deal signed so at least the the two neighbors think twice about it.
