News / Sarkozy on Wednesday arrived in Poland to strike a strategic partnership [57]

IMO French promise a lot because they want us on "board" there was similar travel to UK. But maybe French want to be new "broker" in europe all in all Germans after unification have started to dominate French in their tandem but I doubt in this version.

France also sees Poland as a essential partner in its bid to reinforce European defence, one of four top priorities for its upcoming presidency of the European Union beginning July 1.
"The positions of our two countries largely converge and we will work hand in hand during the French presidency," Sarkozy told Dziennik.
"I'm convinced the engagement of our two countries with contribute to Europe's progress in defence and the Euro-Atlantic partnership."

News / Poland and Sweden try to direct EU attention eastward [19]

you know you can always go to Russians on knees and beg them for merci. :) The most important issue is to try :)

Love strategy towards Russia doesn't work. Look on Bielarus they do what Russians want ... and Russians even in small cases use gas as tool in negotiations ... and they are allies :) Lukaszenko stoped teach their own history and started to teach "soviet" history in schools ofcouse Bilerusian language is forbiden and look what happned ... even thought it doesn't work :) sometimes there is lack of gas in pipeline or prices increase ...

Love strategy and KGB agents ... :) you must be joking.

Travel / Polish visa - Nightmare! [40]

Still im not paying my bloody internet providers anything, half the time i have no net!! :/

It is not normal. Chnage your provider or call them and ask what is going on.

Sometimes you need outsiders to point out the things that need to change.

you know everything is process and most of Poles know what is wrong and what should be done. Progress is noticable espeacialy when we look how it was 10 years ago.

How to say it hmmmm Poland isn't USA :) but it is much closer to USA than it was in the past.

Lets say when we look on bureaucracy or taxes we are in many cases in much better situation than Germans. Still a lot of work has to be done.

as to outsiders pointing out that roads in Poland are worst than in Germany :) we know that our roads are worst than German :) and there is progress in this case but I doubt that tomorow everything will be done.

It is process.

Travel / Polish visa - Nightmare! [40]

But one of the benefits of being in the E.U is that every person should have free right to move, work in every country. Whether its a Pole in the uk, or a mere scotsman in poland, i dont understand why the embassy should be tackleing this when really, there is no restriction in movement.

I'd consider it as mistake made by bureaucrats not special policy. IMO it should change soon.

Travel / Polish visa - Nightmare! [40]

Yup, for a Brit to enter Poland and have to pay money, what do you think it is??

Pole who has been born in Poland has to pay money for obigatory ID etc...
I don't know this case you mentioned and I am not going to argue. Buraucracy in comparion to UK is bigger.

C'mon Lukasz, your country still has some area's it needs to catch up on.

I agree.

News / Poland and Sweden try to direct EU attention eastward [19]

Well there is Russian German oppostion in this case. We will see what will happen.

We have some support in old EU and we cooperate with Sweden what helps as well.

Of course new members of EU + Finland support this idea.

It would aim to negotiate visa-free travel deals and free trade zones for services and agricultural products, and promote regulatory overhauls, according to European diplomats who spoke on condition of anonymity because the plans had not been made public

and this unfortunate visas

neurope.eu/view_news.php?id=86962

What I want to add.

in the same time there are talks with Russians about EU-Russia partnership.
In our opinion we need diversify sources of energy so it would be good to include some other iniciatives.

article with more details of this initiative

Diplomats say the EU's larger member states -- who often oppose the smaller "new" states over issues related to the former Soviet space -- are supportive of the Eastern Partnership initiative. France, which will take over as the next EU presidency in July, is motivated by the need to build support for its Mediterranean strategy among the eastern member states. Germany traditionally takes a close interest in the EU's eastern policy, while Britain is traditionally one of the staunchest supporters of continued enlargement.

Instead, Ferrero-Waldner said the Eastern Partnership initiative would need to show it can "add value" to the existing Neighborhood Policy. "In Eastern Europe, indeed, there are some issues which can suitably be addressed at a regional level -- for instance, on energy, transport networks, maybe cooperation on trafficking, [cooperation] against illegal immigration," she said.

News / Poland and Sweden try to direct EU attention eastward [19]

BRUSSELS: Jolted by French plans for new European Union ties with countries to the Continent's south, Poland and Sweden have put forward rival proposals to focus more political effort on eastern neighbors, including Ukraine.

The initiative, which will be discussed by EU foreign ministers Monday, highlights divisions within the 27-nation bloc over where to concentrate foreign policy efforts. It also reflects fears that pro-EU groups in Kiev need more encouragement from Brussels if Ukraine is to be drawn toward the EU, rather than Moscow.

Sweden and Poland share similar views on the importance of engaging with Eastern Europe, and the Polish foreign minister, Radek Sikorski, worked once before with his Swedish counterpart, Carl Bildt, on EU-Ukraine issues. The ministers plan to present a joint paper to the EU's foreign ministers at a meeting Monday in Brussels.

Russia would not be a member but might be invited to cooperate on initiatives involving Kaliningrad, a Russian enclave within the EU.

Genealogy / Has anyone taken Genealogy DNA tests? [87]

I am after test

biogen.pl/Ustalanie_pochodzenia_genealogia_genetyczna

they input your data into world data base and you know where you have relatives.

they gave me map where I have cusines who whave made similar tests results are very interesting.

Life / The nations Poles don't like (stats) [55]

evidence that 10% of polish hate jews

it doesn't mean hate. I don't think that 30% of Polish people hate Russians. I think that because of some historical argues some people have negative feelings when it comes to some nations. I wouldn't call it "hate".

Not at all. I just think that you have generalised too much on us Brits based upon a relatively small proportion of the posters.

lets say I am taking the rest and generalisations were in some way wrong because now we have what we have.I feel that this forum has bad influence on me :)

and I think that many people think the same about bad mood here.

News / EU a beacon of light for the World to follow [85]

% of people who are happy that EU is biger. (not all countries are mentioned)

Blue is happy Orange opposite

so Slovaks Irish Poles Sweeds are the most happy in EU or biger EU.

Germans and Austrians are the most unhappy in enlarged EU.

on map we can see who has opened laubour market for Poles (white)
who opens it in this year (blue)
and who is not going to open it to 2011 (dead line) (Germany and Austria)

in Germany trade unions are agains and Austrians were against Poland in EU from the begining.

News / Israeli youths misbehave in Poland ceremony score [47]

The fact is that people in Poland don't want to go as American Poles.

We are going to give them some money for properties they are going to give us some weapons and investments. They started to talk about Polish victims and smashing majority of poles who had nothing against Jews. Polish gov started to talk about some tensions before the war and we are going to support Israel in EU all in all it costs nothing and we don't have Arab lobby in Poland. Israel can dream about Polish soldiers in Iran ... it will not happen. More and more Jews talk that Poles were good people, more and more Poles don't care about it.

and this way is better for Poland, in confrontation we don't have chance to re-writte all books and change all stereotypes we can rather refresh them.

I see change in some history articles in world press ...

you should rather get used to such pictures

I see instructions of behaviour haven't been send to USA.;) It is good that you defend our history becuase a lot of facts are not well known ... especialy in USA. and the fact is that our country have been sold in Yalta and our history have been sold after Yalta ...
