So...having fights with rebels/freedom fighters is an apology in your eyes to attack a capital full of civilians to further their opression? Interesting...

Afraid of what? Of not involved US-troops? Of not used (against them) US weaponry?

That's not the point, because neither Poland, neither Georgia won't ever attack Russia first and unprovoked

That's why such a military base is so useless!
No planned attack against them where such a thing might be needed and in case of an attack by them it won't be used anyway...what else does it but poisening the atmosphere further?

The best example was 50 years period after the IIWW when they didn't attack West Germany, bah! - they didn't even try to "reunite" Berlin.

Actually I'm quite grateful or central Europe (with Berlin) would had very probably become a nuclear wasteland!

Georgia started it first with attacking Tskhinvali!

I bet the US troops there would had first wait to get the order to take part on behalf of the Georgians...that would had made a Georgian/Russian conflict quickly to an US/Russian conflict - I doubt very much this order would had come ever!

Now unleash your imagination...can you see the US risking a direct war with Russia over Georgia or Poland (war of words or proxy wars not withstanding).

That's exactly why the US base is so needed here. Because it would be much much harder for US to turn away eyes and pretend nothing happens if Ivan's tanks were rolling 5 miles away from their base. And in case of conflict, what if - even if US troops would like to try maintain neutrality - they would be attacked accidentaly?

Erm...and how will this shield help against "rolling tanks"???

Life / First Racial Attack for me in Poland [158]

People tend to mix the National socialism which was an idea like Democracy, Communism or Capitalism and all that racial stuff pushed by Himmler and Co.

There were already to Hitler's time at least 4 accepted forms of Germanics...from blond, blue eyed, slim in the north to more stocky and dark haired in the south.

Then there were the racial bruhaha about the superiority of the Germanic people to all others. People got catalogized in belonging to this people or not...

That doesn't mean that a Nazi (As in national socialist) HAS to be blond and blue eyed!

With no other race there is so much different colors and combinations....different hair colors, different eye colors.

Today Russia may appear powerful yet long term look at the damage done.

I think the West under the leadership of the US lost much more...

They promised Georgia support and NATO-membership but left Saakashvili hang out to dry as pushes came to shove and Nato- or even now EU membership is not on the agenda anymore (forget about diplomatically niceties).

Russia did what it thought was right and the West just *********** was all!

People will remember that most...

There is nothing good coming out for Europe in an instabile, poor, collapsing and hence restless Russia!
This is the times of the demagogues who promise the people everything, and a war with their neighbours is a often tried and tested way to discern from home problems.

Wishing for Russia to do badly economical is very stupid and very shortsighted, Borrka (even for you).

PS: The contrary is the only way - a good running open economy which is tied to Europe and the West is the best guarantee....satisfied people have to much to lose but to risk adventures!

Before you are so quick denying other peoples their independence you should remember your own history!

If Poland didn't stop the Soviets you were next so maybe you should be saying thank you.

When did Poland stop the Soviets?

I have to agree....I don't see Poland as a real "border" should Russia be determined.
But that's the difference of our viewpoints here, isn't it Cel?
You see the Russians already planning and plotting whereas I think they just can't be arsed...:)
