p.s. - cant believe you told your friend you came on to a forum and told a load of randoms about your problems! did you tell him the title of your thread was - Is it worth it, is my Polish guy trying to avoid me???

UK, Ireland / What's So Great About The UK? [416]

Shelley, are you aware that for 300 years Britain colonised India etc and became hugely rich from it.Have you seen the photos of the millions of Indian soldier volunteers(many based in Britain)who fought for Britain in the 1st and 2nd World Wars? Unfortunately some people seem too ignorant to understand the difference between good migrants and bad ones.

Yes we colonised and yes we became rich through trading and yes I am fully aware that Indians fort for Britian.

I am also aware that most drugs that come in to the UK are brought in by Indians and Pakistanis, thus causing many problems.

We had many other colonies too, also what my point has been has been lost, a man came on here bleeting on about Britian losing its Britishness and he then turns round and says he is married to an asian, I ask you, what is so British about that?

As for the colour of someones skin I dont have issues with that, we have had a multi-cultural society for many years - but were not dictated to and did not have the threat of terrorism from British born Jamacans or British born Vietnamese.

I think you will find that a considerable amout of culture came from France, Italy, Spain...Im not having a go at India, but I dont think they have given us more than our European neighbours by way of culture.

Real Estate / Poland property boom over???? [54]

I think because its only been in recent years that property prices have risen significantly in Poland they should be okay, you must remember lending is a major factor in the UK and Ireland the banks have been throwing money at people and people are in over their heads - repossessions are on the increase and will continue to grow over the next 12 months, new builds are not selling because people cant or wont pay the kind of money developers want, whilst house prices have dipped they have not dropped significantly in the UK as yet, if they do a recession will be inevitable.

As for the construction industry which encompasses surveyors, architects etc., there will be a drop in employment, how large this will be no one can speculate at the moment.

in the next 5 years 37 bn Euros will go into roads, rail and air from the EU plus the same again from the Polish government and private enterprise. This year the government is planning to build over 1,000 km of motorway and express roads.

I don't see anything of this scale about to happen anywhere in Western

You are funny, I suggest you look at how much Network Rail have spent on the WCRM upgrade, or then have a look at how much we spent on the Chanel Tunel or then again you could have a look at how much was spent on the Thames Link project, or on St. Pancras Station or on Manchester Piccadilly on our numerous airports...blimey...as for motorways we are updating and upgrading all the time...

My point was that if someone is married to an asian - he has no room to comment on people from other countries coming to the UK to live. As for your points on influences with regards with India, we could argue that many languages have an influence on the words we use today, greek, french, german etc.

You're assuming that his wife is not a British born asian, so she may have a British passport.

So is she?

My main concern over the influx is mainly a practical one ie. where do we put everyone ? The UK is a tiny island and seems to be running out of space.

So its okay for Asians to come here?

There was talk on the radio this morning about certain areas of big cities being "no-go" areas unless you're muslim

You should be okay then!

I suggest you sort your double standards about, there are schools that are struggling because the classes are jam packed with asian kids that cant speak English! and some schools are teaching urdu - how about that for preserving Britishness!

Love / Is it worth it, is my Polish guy trying to avoid me??? [49]

I am a natural worrier and worry he's had an accident or something. Do you think he is trying to avoid me?? He is always insistent that I stay with him and is always sending letters and little gifts, it's just the sms thing - do you think I should just stop sending him sms????

I think the point being made is that - getting stressed and worried because a 'friend' doesnt text you back isnt good for you or the other party - friendships are about being comfortable...

. It is probably me that worries too much -

but whats to worry about? that he's out working or having dinner with family or going out for a drink with friends....you need to relax because if you are like this with a friend, he might be frightened to get in to a full blown relationship with you...high maintenance isnt good, its stressful on the other party!

Message to cheated.

You mention that your wife is Asian....she's not even part of the EU so has no real right to be in the UK, so I dont know what your point is about preserving Britishness.

History / Jewish love towards Poles [389]

am, albeit to a very small extent, Jewish

GG Grand fathers name was Bacon so I take umbridge at people constantly targeting jews for this and that...

Jews also target others, and very well indeed. For instance us Poles. For instance in this very forum. Preferring not to notice that? Learn history, ignorant hypocrite.

Didnt you mention somewhere that you were of jewish decent or are you forgetting that or are you just a mental person!

Jews aren't angels in Palestine

You mean the every day person or the politicians?

History / Jewish love towards Poles [389]

Which is why Jews are targetted for abuse. Fine, have ur views, but don't tresspass on others territory. I'm sure there was nothing about Poles and Jews being divine entities in either the Big Bang or Steady State theories. So Brits, or any other Christian nation for that matter, are not the children of God, just Jews? Come off it!! Holier than thou weirdos have major chips on their shoulders and should be ignored

Jews were (and still are) targetted because they have a nack and a good head for business, they will move around almost nomadic and still have wealth - someone mentioned about the jews in Prauge - most of the wealth in Prauge was generated by the Jews - they were bankers in some way - they had skills and inteligence and this bothered the Czechs - so they were all to happy to send them off to the concentration camps and take over their properties etc,...if any one has been to Prauge they will know that the Jewish district is quite a nice place...

Jews are peaceful and in general no threat to anyone, so I have no idea why people on this forum are attacking them and making statements like you have.

Jews dont have an attitude, if you knew any you would know that this is not true, they have strong family values and keep to tradition.

UK, Ireland / English people attitude towards Poles? [761]

I've read it and it sends out mixed messages. Many people overspend and that's their choice, thay have to live with the consequences. I'd say Scots tend to budget better so the stats may apply to England more. No causal connection was established linking this economic downturn with the Poles. The job market, truth be known, was bad in 2001, filled with pathetic jobs, and that's b4 the Poles started to flock across in 2003/4

You really are not getting my point.....

And so far they are far more attractive than any english men I have ever met!

You need to get out more or maybe English men just dont find you attractive.

News / Poland adopting the Euro, but when? [65]

I guess we have just been bloody lucky down here in Pulawy, because we have never had even the slightest hint of bad care. :O)

I would imagine its similar to in the UK, better areas generally have better facilities, smaller waiting lists, the poorer areas are the opposite......

chester

chestnuts?

no thank you I want turkey

Sorry folks but Im with zion on this one, no turkey at xmas, its like not having chocolate at easter!

there's a good saying .... 'when in Rome, do as the Romans'; whilst you are in Poland, try and take part in the Polish traditions ....... isn't that part of living in a different country .... experiencing the culture and traditions ?

So you reckon all the Polish in England will be forgetting their Polish traditions, after all, when in Rome!
