UK, Ireland / Many British have inferiority complex [131]

As opposed to English women, who are like the English football team. . . . They might look good on paper, but they are a bunch of prima donna's and an international laughing stock. 0-0 :))))

Tw*t...would appear that the only men that slag off English women are English men, Polish men as usual are gentlemen (or at leat Mr Magic is :) )

I am the host of this show

You're fired, you are an inferior host :)

Polish girls looks good = wh ores

I think most English men would disagree with you there, they would be more likely to say that English women are whoe bags :)

I think that I know some reasons of this english paranoidal behavior.

Its not, the English are a little overwhelmed with the numbers of people coming to work and settle in the UK, which I think is understandable

Oh and I never met with an English woman behaving in a patronizing way towards me. They were always very open and friendly.

How could they be anything else but towards you with that boyish face and lovely cheeks :)

Cheer up Shelley! Obviously people have different experiences of life and mine is that apart from bad behavior (lack of respect,anti-social behavior, scroungers etc-which can be put right over time) I feel many things are better now than they were in the 1970s.

Im fine and happy, but I dont see things through rose tinted glasses, maybe I remember the last recession too well and the thought of it happening is slightly worrying..

That would be the US Ford motor company then.....

that employs many people in the UK, chances are that the plants will be moved to cheaper countries when they take over - UK and US have pretty strong ties, not sure we have the same with India!

Just what did the Romans ever do for us?.........

Interesting programmes.....I quite like history!

Wake up Shelley the UK is still great.

Maybe Im looking at things in a different way, lets see if you are so optimistic at the end of 08.

As for Hollywood - Great a few people make a lot of money, whats that got to do with the average person and the impact on the UK...sorry to sound so negative, I just dont see the UK as you see it, "going to hell in a hand cart" as Jim Reeves said many years ago!

Life / Legally changing my Polish name to English one? [55]

A sales assistant woke up after a heavy drinking session to find he was not himself – he had changed his name by deed poll.

The 17-year-old started the night out as Joel Whittle but became Big Crazy Lester for a joke.

He made the change online in 20 minutes for a £50 fee and has no plans to change it back.

UK, Ireland / BBC Prime going Polish [17]

tvlicensing.co.uk/index.jsp

Still, kinda makes me wonder about BBC world service

Thats the radio, TV is a different thing, yeah it is quite sh*t that we have to pay £140 plus for 2 channels that constantly play re-runs!

here you go D, this is what its all about

UK, Ireland / BBC Prime going Polish [17]

Isn't BBC funded by taxpayers?

No each household must have a TV licence which costs £140 or there abouts per year...in a house that has rented rooms, each person who rents a room must have a licence, if they dont they can be fined, when a person purchases a TV they have to fill in a form with their name and address, this is then sent to the TV licencing people who then know who has a licence and who doesnt...So watching it on the internet is technically illegal.

So Shelley,if your partner was Polish would that prevent you expressing your views on Britishness?

If I were to I wouldn't be banging on about another national ruining the country which is exactly what he did!

Perhaps you heard that 'curry' is quite popular in Britain - one of several things that unites Britain with parts of Asia.

So is pizza dont start saying we have an infinity with Italy though do we?

UK proportionately the greatest nation on the planet. If anyone cares I will find time to do it.

Used to be, its a sh*t hole now with no industry and an infrastructure thats about to buckle, we have recently sold of the brand Dulux (ICI) to the Dutch company Akzo Nobel, Ford are at present in the process of selling off Land Rover and Jaguar to the Indian company TATA...yeah Britain is brilliant! Dont make me laugh a possibility of another 20,000 jobs being lost in the car industry alone, not to mention those who work for ICI and for one who lives pretty close to ICI in Manchester it means losses of jobs in the comunity I live in!!

Also a fact is, the Poles have nothing to do with a declining NHS.

I dont think I blamed one particular group.

UK, Ireland / Will Polish names eventually become popular in the UK? [53]

Mohammad became a popular boys name last year and not just among the Asian or Muslim communities.

you show me one English person who name their kid mohammed and I will walk down Market Street in Manchester naked tonight after work!

UK, Ireland / Will Polish names eventually become popular in the UK? [53]

Do you think that with the large influx of Polish people into UK society that in the next few years Polish names might be more commonly used by British parents when naming new born babies?

No, we have had asians here for many years do you see English people calling their kids Mohammed? or Azia?

Angelika is one name I would consider. Of course, perhaps this is because it's fairly close to an English name

It is an English name, only we use a C

Life / Do Polish people tend to stick together? [49]

You're wrong ShelleyS.

There are a few exceptions to the rule.....I would say in general people like to stick to their own, there is a certain amount of comfort in doing so, your own language is easier to speak and your own people understand your more than your host countrymen, so to say flat out "Shelley you are wrong" is a bit rude.

if I live abroad it's because I want to experience something different

Its quite possible to do this and still hang with ex pats, I dont know a single person who has lived abroard who hasnt mixed with other English people whilst they have been abroad!

UK, Ireland / TRUTH AND DELUSION ABOUT POLES IN UK [65]

First of all, many Poles have been working in the UK without any contract. As such, they are not entitled to any benefits. They can be - and are - sacked whenever it suits their employers and then find themselves without any social assistance whatsoever. The European Union has been pressing the UK government for making it incumbent on the UK employers to give contracts to employees after 6 months of work, but the UK government has opposed it vigorously and, so far, successfully....

Puzzy this is a way of life for the average person in the UK, employers see people as expendable - they dont want to have to pay out the basic benefits, its not just Polish people that have to put up with this kind of thing, believe it or not English people do, at least Polish people have the opportunity to go back to Poland.

More like a tw*t if you ask me :)

I'm a smug b*stard

just read tomorrow's column in the NWE for proof of that

It would appear that only you and your mum will be reading it by the comments from the forum :(

UK, Ireland / WORKING/LIVING ARRANGMENTS in UK [7]

They work as a semi skilled fitter of aliminum windows Doors etc for a large company.

doesnt mean that they are not self employed - its a good way for employers to employ people without the workers registration papers and get out of paying NI, holiday pay etc., not so good for them because they should be saving for their tax bill and arranging to pay their NI - on the other hand they could just be working for a rather sh*tty company, sick pay is not a legal requirement for a company to pay, if they have paid enough NI then they can claim SSP if they have had more than the acquire time off sick in order to claim....

Agency workers dont get paid sick and some times holiday pay is built in to the weekly salary and left to the individual to save for holidays out of this...

Look at this wage slip this will tell you more than I can

Life / "well-off" income in poland [26]

my friend-a welder from the shipyards in poland

I would say the work in this area would be difficult for him to get into - it's limited in the UK now due to the limited number of ship yards we have left and the limited contracts awarded to the ones that are left! As for earning capacity, wages are decreasing and we are heading for a recession so jobs will be a lot scarcer than they were - my suggestion is that he stays in Poland earning his above average wage and safe guards his job there....

Life / Do Polish people tend to stick together? [49]

everyone has to understand that when you go somewhere new most people tend tlook out for something familiar and people that share same interests in some field. that is often easier to find with your fellow countrymen. that is valid not only for polish people but for everyone who decides to live somewhere else..

Couldnt have put it better myself and I think anyone who says they wouldnt want contact with people of their own nationality whilst living in a foreign country is talking complete tosh!

UK, Ireland / Polish kids in UK education system [57]

jewish communities there is a greater value placed upon gaining a good education

Education is generally better in Jewish schools - classes are smaller, private funding is always a bonus and teachers are generally more strict - so you cant really compare them with the 'local comp'!

Work / Relocating to Krakow, Poland from England. How easy to find a job? [94]

Thank you so much for your eloquent and hugely useful contribution to the discussion. As you have nothing to say here might I be so bold as to suggest that you go f**k yourself? Alternatively you can read the relevant laws and point out where I’m wrong.

What a charmer, so glad you moved to Poland, England can do without foul mouthed prigs like you!

UK, Ireland / What's So Great About The UK? [416]

the nhs was in a crisis even before the polish wave as you say yourself, but still there are people on here who paint a picture that the nhs would work fine if there were no poles in the uk...

It was working on the problems and money was being spent, there had been radical shake ups - but, when the UK opened its did not expect the influx if migrant workers it got, thus putting more pressure on and causing more problems, also lets take in to consideration the amount of people that come here on visas and oversay and still expect treatment and in some case expensive treatment for cancers and HIV / AIDS, so you see our wonderful free service has become a little bit tired and frayed at the edges but its being worked on!

Good point. The NHS has been in downfall for at least a decade (probably more) cancelled operations and waiting times (for example) have been a problem for a long time and nothing to do with Polish people. It's an old story.

Can you elaborate on post? Or does slagging off something you know nothing about make you sound good?

Absolute nonsense.Drugs are brought in by Jamaicans,Columbians,Nigerians,Albanians,Turks,British as well as Indians and Pakistanis

The largest proportion is brought in by Pakistanis and Indians - its a problem, or maybe you havent heard!

Like I said - parts of Asia and Britain are connected by history and culture.

I see nothing about there culture that resembles British culture as it used to be or as it is now!

Shelley if someone from Asia can never be British then should the millions of Brits in USA,Australia,Canada,Spain,New Zealand etc always be considered as unwelcome immigrants in those countries? How can a British person go to Australia and declare themselves Australian when the real Australians are the Aborigines? Your comments are as ignorant as the anti-Polish ones on this forum.

Are you taking the ****, we colonised most of these places quite a long time ago! Now their culture is the same as ours! I wonder why? hmmmmm, I'll let you answer that one!

As for Spain, you will have to ask a Spanish person what he thinks of the brits and as far as I know English people who have kids in Spain consider their kids English and dont start calling them Spanish!

Same as my cousin who was born in Singapore doesnt consider himself Singaporian!

Cultural diversity? You mean that we have areas that contained mainly blacks / asians, we have a china town? we have high streets full of arab shops? Intigration is another thing! I would say there is a greater divide now than there ever was. Recent events have changed people and Political correctness, asylum seekers, people coming to study who dont actually study and dont bother to return to their own countries are just a few of the problems in England that are adding the kindling to the fire!

Im afraid the influx of Polish people just highlighted and possibly made people sit up and look at the state of England....
