Real Estate / Bad news for house self-builders in Poland (building material cost up) [15]

Sterling V Zlotych

it means that building in Poland is becoming very expensive.

I fail to see how sterling has any affect on building materials in Poland..It just means people working in the UK will be sending / saving less...dont be blaming the British ecomony for Polands problems....how about a thought for those who live and work in Poland!..

UK, Ireland / Polak moving to north-west England [56]

sounds like most of England, then! :)

How rude!

Strange... most ppl I've spoken to say "don't live in north Manchester" LOL :)

Because its too expensive :)

yeah, but we say "Angole" :)

Good for you, but we are actually English (that is I am and I dont actually like to be referred to as "British or Anglo")

Travel / Your favourite Polish region/city, etc [32]

By the way, I still don't get what all the fuss is about regarding Kraków

it has a soul and something magical about it, I was told recently it inspires artists and I understand why. I like Wraclaw too but for different reasons, it has its charm too.

Four Heatons

LOL, be careful which one you chose, each of them have some rough areas too...and also still a bit close to Levenshulme....but make up your own mind, Im quite negative to that side of Manchester too many chavs and no nice parks.

But I expect that the Angole would prefer that, anyway... Empire guilt, etc.

We dont do guilt (new generation) ;-) and its Anglo is you dont mind :)

Love / Polish boyfriends [77]

the stuff which is written on here says NOTHING about what I know about Poles,

But evidently it's what people have experienced from Polish men living in the UK...no one is saying you are like this, but didnt you know all English women are easy and fat...thats not nice to hear but its true in some cases....

Levenshulme -

I wouldnt let a rabbid dog live there - a young girl was raped over that side of Manchester a couple of weeks ago and I would mention the shootings and the gang fights..but hey hoe if a couple of Polish shops swing it for you, you could try Prestwich which has the shops and a safe place to live..

try this site, it gives information about the areas you would like to or are thinking about living

upmystreet.co.uk

this

I would advise if you want to live in South Manchester, head for Didsbury, much nicer and safer

Study / Does Poland offer Polish Lessons for Free? [16]

Why would they? They did however offer free English lessons to none English speaks when they came to the UK, but has, as I have already stated, stopped. It was too costly.

Life / Is plastic surgery a large part of Polish culture? [35]

I have two friends that have had breast reductions.....but mainly due to health reasons, I wouldnt fancy carrying around what they had to

The gastric bypass surgery has become the big topic these days now in the US.

Ive seen quite a few progs on this and as a slim person I find it hard to understand how someone could get to such a weight, there was that woman a few weeks ago on tv (she died after the op) and she was 1/2 a ton - she maintained she didnt eat a lot, only 10 dollar burgers a day (that was a snack) and countless other crud, whilst I understand that emotional past problems can play a part, Im a believer in "healthy body healthy mind" and eating yourself to death isnt really the way forward.

A lot of companies in the UK now supply a fruit basket in the office (free fruit for all) instead of vending machines full of snacks..

Life / Would this be viewed as okay for most Polish families? [38]

my brothers were "encouraged" to do their own ironing etc they both "left" home and were not kicked out when they went to uni - as a result they both cook and clean and have take on the their fatherly roles very well....

My friends brothers didnt do a tap around the house, the "girls" were expected to do everything, depends on the parents I suppose.

UK, Ireland / I'm pregnant with my Polish boyfriend. Visa question. [25]

i was told that my child WILL NOT get Brtish citizenship

Why should she? being born in a country does not entitle you to a passport...

he/she will be getting a british birth certificate and after 5 years

Why neither of you are British? Go get an Indian one or a Tibetan one or a Polish one!

However, any child who has one Polish parent automatically receives Polish citizenship.

There you go, simple!

UK, Ireland / I'm pregnant with my Polish boyfriend. Visa question. [25]

If your baby will be born in UK, he/she will be a British Citizen automatically and a British Passport. You will gain rights to remain and your boyfriend is an EU Citizen, so I don't think there is a problem.

Wrong!!!! The baby has the same status as the parents...so if she is on a visa when the visa is all gone, she is gone with it along with the baby....

Good luck

Love / Getting married?? Keeping parents happy etc... Big Polish family. [9]

I suspect Marta is not going to church because she believes living together without being married is a sin. Going to church only increases that feeling.

I suspect you are talking sh$te, she's not going because she cant be bothered to go, there isnt that pressure on her to attend mass or go to confession whilst she is in England...

Life / A Polish Priest lying about freemasons [57]

especially Brits due to old Irish problem

What do you know about it, apart from something you read on the net!

They come to Poland with this attitude, of course never attend any masses and have absolutely no contact with any clergy

How on earth do you know?

Of course such "knowledge" fits to their vision which they brought to Poland from the UK.

Fucktard!

News / Poland in coming 5 years [48]

Earlier we had in Middle and Western Europe also the problem of alcoholism

It changed

WFT, Binge drinking, drink related deaths and cost of treating alcoholic related problems has increased so Im not sure what planet you are on..

Poland has come so far and even better than many of the countries surrounding it

???? I suggest you check up on economics of countries surrounding Poland before making statements like that, you were way out..

The bigger they are the harder they fall!

Really, I thought the bigger you are (in terms of world power) the stronger you are..so again wrong...blimey gov, do ya readin before you come ear spouting tosh!

as for work ethic poland has one of the highest rates of alcoholism in all of europe

Where did you get that little gem of information from?

Love / CONFUSING FRIENDSHIP? She doesn't want to go to Poland now. [30]

That isnt going to work though is it? She needs to know wtf has happened and then only then will she be ready to tell him to f off if in deed she has the need to....like I said it's all speculation and every situation is different....

Love / CONFUSING FRIENDSHIP? She doesn't want to go to Poland now. [30]

Maybe she should ask him, speculation is a terrible thing, there might be a reasonable explanation behind his actions and only he knows, so as far as coming on a forum and asking advice, it's just adding fuel to the fire...sorry but thats my opinion..

Life / Polish attitudes towards drinking alcohol [72]

very interesting programme the other night examining the clasification and proposed reclasification of various narcotic substances using a new set of defining parameters... alcohol and nicotene were among the most harmful and it was suggested that if what is know now was known previously they would both be prohibited

I watchd that...very interesting...pills were well down the classification ;-)

Rafiq, this dude talking shite, you know it we know and the whole world knows it, one day he will realise it...

Drinking is not nation specific, Im sure there are plenty of americans that drink heavily doesnt mean that they are all alcoholics, prolonged use of any substance is going to harm you, some faster than others...

Don't like the expression "pure race"

Its just words, chill

As M pointed out there is no such thing as "pure race" and I found some of poor Filos comments a bit silly considering the fact he is half greek and half polish, which there is absolutely nothing wrong with by the way...

News / Storyville: The Polish Ambulance Murders (BBC4) [43]

Mass Murder is not a big enough story?

Yeah even the Wests and Shipman got quite a bit of coverage and they didn't murder half as many :) (sorry couldnt resist that) it is quite strange that its never been mentioned before - I only found out when I went to my parents for dinner last week, quite a shocking thing by any standards.

Life / A Polish Priest lying about freemasons [57]

Im not sure why a Freemason would even give a toss about what the church said seems like a lot of hot air for no real reason!]

I know several guys who are in that special club and its no big deal - charity work ect and a bit of back scratching - nothing to shout home about
