Real Estate / WHERE to get permit for property in Poland? [22]

Individual Estate Agents or companies have web-sites. Some of them link from one to the next.
It's easier to go to the town or city web-site for where you would like to buy and then check the Real Estate links.

Life / How are people from Warsaw viewed and why? [20]

I'm afraid it's true. We [not every single one of us] don't like Warsaw.

Can't give you a reason. Because I don't really believe there is one.

Life / Non-verbal communication of Polish people? [10]

giggle,

When people pass in the street, see a friend on the other side of the office etc.

They nod their head. It's an acknowledgement that they have seen you.

Women as well as men will do this.

Work / Going rate for translators in Poland? [12]

You might be better off working for a British company with an office in Poland, or a government department.

For an ordinary guy trying to make money, it's your reputation that gets you work.

Sorry to be vague. I don't really know what you can earn.

Most people look for work translating texts. You might be better off looking for oral translation work [conferences etc] [some of this work will give you travel and hotel expenses]

Sorry, can't offer more.

Genealogy / Looking for Wrombezyn (sp?) Poland [4]

Is the place name on your documents hand written or printed ?

If it is hand written I would like to see an image of it. Because I don't trust the spelling.

JewishGen can't find a close soundex match.

Life / Which school to send my kids in Lodz? Private or public? [18]

The law states that you should collect them up to age eleven. [I think]
But it doesn't happen. It depends how close to home they live.
I've seen kids age eight make their own way home. [but only a short distance]

You're wrong. And there are two th sounds, which are pronounced in different ways.

You've been spending too much time reading World of English.

Feedback / Thank you admin [52]

tele,

Bus, tram tickets in Wroclaw cost 2zl, 1zl for kids. A one day adult ticket costs about 9zl. I think you'll find it cheap, but it does add up.

Buses from Wroclaw to nearby towns: I travel 30km to our other house. It costs 3.50zl. The train for the same distance costs 6zl.

Sometimes it can cost the same to travel 1km as it does 10km.

Long distance journeys will be different.

Tell us your plans and we will do the costs.

UK, Ireland / gay guys in London seek surrogacy female [134]

Post 36

Everything you would expect an unmarried, childless, politically correct person to say.

Nothing perceptive about it in the least.

Love / having an affair with a Polish man (but he has a wife and a child) [266]

If you two are rock solid then don't you think he should at least tell his wife. At least that way she will be free to do as she wishes. She will also be able to make plans for her daughter, who is the innocent party in all of this.

My bet is that he won't tell her.

Love / having an affair with a Polish man (but he has a wife and a child) [266]

And that's it. You are thinking of yourself and not his family.

Picture the day he says to his daughter 'I'm getting divorced, don't bother to phone'

Do you really think it is that easy to take a man ?

It will take a lot longer than two months before he risks everything to marry you.

Love / having an affair with a Polish man (but he has a wife and a child) [266]

mobile,

I have everything I need right here. I might flirt and I might be tempted, but I'm not stupid enough to screw up my marriage.

How do I know ? Because I'm old enough to have seen it in others.

There is more to a relationship than sex. And it's not so easy to face up to a divorce.

Love / having an affair with a Polish man (but he has a wife and a child) [266]

mobile,

Why did you post this topic ?

I see someone who has doubts about their relationship and no matter how hard you try you are well aware of the wife back home in Poland. You know in your heart of hearts that you invited him into your bed and you also know that one day he will go home. He's not going to get a divorce until he does. As a man, I will tell you that he is using you. As much as you are using him. There really is no point to your post at all unless you want help. So, What is really bothering you ? Do you feel guilty ?

Language / Whats with the Polish "U" ? [12]

Kaka,

Please, understand it is low slang. I wouldn't expect you to have heard of it. I'm sure that you move in higher circles.

Language / Whats with the Polish "U" ? [12]

Kaka,

I don't think szkotja made a mistake. We can only translate what he has given us and as I have explained it is slang.

Language / Whats with the Polish "U" ? [12]

Low uneducated slang .... Uspoko/spoko = calm down, no problem.

Kochana = dear

Ukochana = beloved [This form carries a more emotional load ]

Life / Which school to send my kids in Lodz? Private or public? [18]

K

I've had a think. You are right. It would be the older kids who cause the problems.

There was a story somewhere, which was about a kid in Scotland. The teacher had a Polish day with food and stuff. The result, more understanding on both sides.

I would think that if anamak finds an English speaking school his/her kids will find plenty of friends. And of course it depends on the neighbourhood one lives in.
