Be careful what you wish for. The last time the brits found themselves out of work, due to immigration, they took matters into their own hands. I see a lot of Polish people ending up in hospital and very soon. Certain sections of the community can only take so much.

This is not a threat. It is just the way I see things. But as usual, we have discussed this all before.

As St. Valentine's becomes more popular the more you notice it on the street. People carrying flowers etc.
As the country is getting wealthier and wealthier more flower shops are noticable and of course shopkeepers, of all types, are promoting Feb 14th.
I can only compare this day to the UK. We still have a bit of catching up to with regard to St. Valentinus and the commercialism which surrounds him.

Don't know about the old festivities but Valentine's Day has always been here. It's just that it was never celebrated as it is in 'the west'

St. Valentine's Day replaces Lupercalia which was on February 15th. So says 'Testy Do Matury'.

If you are going to talk about language. Think about this. Northumberland existed as a kingdom before England. What is thought by many to be a dialect is in fact a language. Original English. The first word in the first dictionary is Keel, a Geordie word for boat. You can all check these facts if you so wish. The English should be speaking Geordie.

A couple of thoughts:
I would've thought that the best place to look would be your place of birth. It must be on the certificate along with other vital details.

Be careful. Your folks may not want to be found.
What do you know about your parents? Can your adoptive parents tell you anything ?
Do you know where to find copies of the legal papers and documents your birth mother signed. Was your birth mother married to your father ? It might make a difference. Do you have any brothers or sisters that you know about ?

From what people tell me I think that the music is good in clubs wherever you go in Wroclaw. I've got to be careful here because I know one of the local DJs quite well.

As for getting checked by customs. I once spent half an hour in that little room they take you to. Didn't have to touch my toes though. But the ba$tards did take a radio off me.

I'll probably take a flight into Teesside and then take the train to Newcastle. I know that if I don't book it soon I could end up on the bus, yet again. I expect to travel in July.

You'll be OK in city centre pubs. Most drinkers in any university city will be in their twenties. Outside of the city centre pubs/bars do take on a different character.

Clubs: Speak to the locals for good info. It really depends on what you're looking for.
