Life / Black people in Poland [357]

Plus, there is over 30000 Vietnamese living in Warsaw alone

You know, this is really weird. I was in Warsaw four weeks ago. There are thousands upon thousands of people there. It's nearly impossible to meet the same person twice. Well, I was walking down the street with my Polish Boyfriend. He took off work to be with me not telling anyone. He lives about 400 km away. And it just happened, that some guys from his work were in Warsaw for a meeting, and of all the people there, they saw us!!!!!!!

Guys at work were giving him a hard time later. hahahahaha. talking about weird!!!!!

Language / Speaking bad Polish? [14]

In different regions one is correct, in another it's not.
In Warsaw, a student journal is called "dzienniczek". In Kraków it's "perepetka"
"Fartuszek" in Warsaw is a school uniform, in Kraków it's "chałat"
to go outside in Warsaw it's "iść na dwór" in Kraków, it's "iść na pole"

Life / Whats driving like in Poland? [70]

I was just on the road in that area about 3 weeks ago, around Lublin, Zakopane and Krakow. I've seen some drivers going really fast, they like to pass whenever they feel like it and the incoming traffic moves to the side of the road to let them pass. Some are always in a hurry and get in front of you. You must have good brakes. There were road constructions. But in general you shouldn't worry too much, it's not that bad, but watch out for those few "crazy ones".

Food / naleśnik polish pancakes [11]

And when you get it off the pan, spread the filling on it. Not too much. Then fold it in half, then again in half and you have a cute little "triangle".

For stuffing it you can take some cottage cheese and mix it with cream cheese and add a little sugar if you wish, or spread some fruit-jelly.

Then you can also fry it after you fill it and eat it like that or top it off with cream or whatever.

USA, Canada / Would like to converse in Polish in Chicago [19]

I have two children of my own. A girl 5 and a boy 3. I only speak Polish to them, they understand everything but it's hard to make them always speak it. I too would like them to find Polish speaking friends, unfortunately I don't live in Chicago, but in Wisconsin, about 200 miles away. But if I'm in the neighborhood I wouldn't mind meeting you!

Food / green cream SOUP [14]

It was probably one of those " chef's specials".
"Made up" soup with left-overs.

Food / green cream SOUP [14]

Why was it green? Sounds like a fish chowder soup. Maybe it was green from parsley.
But it was probably made with water, chicken stock, sour-cream, pepper and fish. Plus that "secret" green ingredient.

Love / Illegal Polish girl wants me to marry her for citizenship [124]

why not giving a helping hand to a sister Pole?

There are different ways of helping. If it means destroying your life, that is not help.
If somebody needs money, you can borrow them only so much, because if you give it all, you won't survive.
There are limits to everything.

Love / Illegal Polish girl wants me to marry her for citizenship [124]

OK. but let's look at another way. You are married. Then divorced. The whole world will know about this. Thanks to computers, you cannot hide this. It's a mark against you.

What if you meet the perfect girl and she loves you, but then you tell her about your little "deal". What will be her reaction to this?

And if you also have Polish citizenship and want to maintain it, or want to marry in poland, all your documents - marriage, divorce-would have to get translated into Polish and registered within the Polish goverment. That also takes time and money.

I say don't do it. It's stupid. You will be obligated to be with her for more than over 3 years. Don't let money fool you!!! Maybe the girl of your dreams will be richer than that!!!!

If you ever watched " M jak Milość" you will know what I'm talking about.

And then you have to keep pictures of you and her together in case of an unexpected visit from the uscic.
If you ever do meet that one, special girl, I don't think she would like a picture hanging on the wall of you with another woman.

I wouldn't.

Unless you still love this girl and she loves you, then it's a whole different story, of course.

Love / date ideas? american woman/ non-english speaking polish guy [15]

It could be kind of fun learning a new language and trying to understand each other, and if everything goes well, you can look at it 5 years from now and laugh at how you tried to communicate.

Follow your heart.

Love / Illegal Polish girl wants me to marry her for citizenship [124]

Don't do it!!
First of all that is cheating. You're hurting not only yourself, but the American Goverment. After about 7,8 months of this "marriage", you get called into the immigration office to apply for a green card. Here they ask you very intimate questions about your marriage and personal stuff. Lot of times they know it's fake.

Then you have to be married to her 3 years in order for her to get her citizenship. If she doesn't pass her test, you will have to stay married longer.

You have to file your income tax together, because the uscis always looks at that.
Then if you meet someone else in the meantime, you would have to wait till you're divorced. You don't have the freedom to make a decission about your real wedding. And who knows how long the divorce process will take? Sometimes people wait half a year or longer. And that costs some money too.

And then depending in which state you live, you have to wait 6 months before you can re-marry again.

You will be stuck with her for a long, long time buddy. And what will you gain from it? You think that $7.000 is going to make you happy??? You will have nothing but pain and headaches from running from one embassy to another to another!!!

Life / How to Survive on a Minimum Wage in Poland? [45]

Ahh, those "entry visas" .What the goverment doesn't say is, that you have to return to Poland and no lawyer will touch it to help you stay in the US. Not through marriage or visa extension or other possible way. If they overstay their visa, they will be here illegally forever. Some might get caught and deported. And when they finally do return, they will be refused an entry to the US.

Life / How to Survive on a Minimum Wage in Poland? [45]

Poles like to show off what they have.
I know a few here in the US. They have to have everything brand new. First they had to get a boat, A brand new one. Then a Yamaha motorcycle. Brand new. Now they got a brand new truck for $30.000. All on credit. They are here illegally. They don't have health insurance. I think the money got the better of them. I only hope they will be able to make all payments...
