UK, Ireland / FREE PART TIME COURSES IN ENGLISH! (LONDON) [24]

we have FREE vocational courses offered by our jobcentre in my hometown of gliwice, those are offered even to people who never paid taxes before. that`s how my best friend got a good job in administration in the city`s court.

Good for Gliwice and I'm over the moon about your friends new job, but wtf has that got to do with England offering freeEnglish lessons to foreigners?

answers on a post card please!

It is hard to belive that the rise in taxes anywhere is due to higher spending on language schools IMO.

I very much doubt that too, but it doesnt help public feeling when you're £££ down on last year because of increase in bills and tax (council tax rise circa. 7%, gas circa. 10%, water rates circa. 15%, electric circa. 10% - it all adds up)...and as a national you get nothing extra for working your a$$ off and if you do fall on hard times, forget it, you are right at the back of the cue.....yet you see people come in to the country get free housing, free language class and benefits galor...

And M, please dont think Im aiming this specifically at Polish people because Im not, it's aimed at anyone that's getting freebies, whilst I have to work hard and get only what I work for and I dont expect something for nothing.

Yes I know that it's a political thing and the forum isnt the place to discuss this, but I just wanted to answer you question.

Travel / Krakow going down the toilet! [184]

I think the point is about behaviour - and lets face it lads we have earnt rather a bad rep over the years..

But I did a quick search on google and it came up with several companies that cater for stag parties in krakow and they have offices there that provide tour guides and numerous activites.....you cant have you cake and eat it, the revenue that is generated must be pretty damn good......

I'm not excusing the bad behaviour, very far from it, but fact of the matter is, some British blokes are rather loud and silly when drunk...not so much violent though...

how does anybody commenting on here know where the money is coming from?

A government funded programme that we are running at our learning centre in London.

Therefore coming out of tax paid and things like this dont help people's feelings towards immigrants - even the most tolerant get a wee bit pushed off when tax has just increased for those poorest and council tax went up on average by 7%..and all the while the government is squandering money!

how about you`d say: `those bloody polish tax payers pay taxes in MY country so they can get something in return and learn MY language?`

How about I say, if you chose to come and live and work in a country, learn the language...why the fek should we provide you with free lessons? I think that those Polish tax payers get paid a better wage than they would in Poland and those with kids get child benefit.... would you expect something for free in Poland just because you paid your tax?

Well in a way they too are responsible but banning cheap flights would only hurt the normal hard working conscientious person too. Basically the Police need to have a zero tolerance approach to these idiots, if they step out of line when visiting any country then they should be arrested for breach of the peace and banged up for a few days and deported, this means that they will not be allowed back into the country. Infact I feel that if people are travelling and cause trouble there should be a points system, just like a drivers licence. For minor offences like peeing on the street it could be 3 points and a £60 on the spot fine and points given depending on the seriousness of the event Too many points then they take away your passport.

and what about people that come to England drop litter and in general treat it like shite, should they be deported? Trust Im not happy about the way a few blokes act of a weekend, but what about the 1000's of people that come to England and have no respect whatsoever! If the Polish hate it so much then they should refuse to serve English people

The blame lies with the cheap airlines

I have to say I probably wouldn't be able to travel as much as I do if they weren't so cheap, but having said that the first time I went to the Czech Rep it cost me £250 for a flight (it was quite a long time ago) and I dont remember there being a lot of English, the only English we bumped into were a group of guys (all in their late 40is) who had been travelling their since the late 80is and yes they enjoyed a drink but they weren't loud and drunken...we only met those kind when we went to watch Sparta Prague play....and they were drunk czech hooligans!

UK, Ireland / More Polish workers leaving the Isles [28]

as I remeber few years ago doctors were trying to go to some wester country and work in factory ... it seems that it is the past :)

You're right, Polish people are working in professions, Dentists, Doctors, Engineers and so on, those are the kind of people the UK can't aford to lose (no offence to those in the lower end jobs) and judging by the salaries in Poland I dont think a Polish GP or Dentist being paid £45,000 + a year (in the UK) is in any hurry to go back to Poland just yet.

I can only sumise the reason for the mass exodus is the drop in the £ and the risk of coming to a country with a shaky economy!

Not sure it will have a massive impact since there are plenty of Lithuanians, Hungarians, Czechs and Slovakians, Im sure a lot that are returning are those that are students or people who have done what they came to do - i.e. save for a better life in Poland...good luck to them, but on the flip side there are Poles that have settled....

Also maybe the person who wrote that article should stand near Chorlton Street bus station any night of the week and see all the cars with Polish registrations, picking up friends and relatives just arrriving... ;-)

True numbers of those actually living and working in the UK isnt really known so i tend to ignore any figures that are published....

Travel / Help, advice and please quash or confirm a rumour about Cracow! [16]

GINGER

My advice would be, act how you act when you are at home and dress accordingly as for places to go, there are a few little bars on Grodzka (just off the main square) and there is a wonderful Italian restaurant on there too....Krakow is a wonderful place to explore, just get off the main square away from where the idiots seem to congregate and there is an abudance of nice little bars to have a nice cold one and while away the hours :0)

Try the Jewish district too, it has some great bars and some fantastic places to eat..

There is a little club / bar called "Crazy Bar" which plays cheesy music and can be highly entertaining, for some reason because of the kinds of music it played - it didn't really attract the same kind of crowds the P£ssed up lout tends to follow :0)

Of course there is something wrong with a person who rapes, its not exactly a normal thing to do, but I would dissagree that it's genetic.

I'm not a fan of abortion either, especially for these thick young sluts who go running for an abortion because they are irresponsible and immature and messed up.

This topic has been discussed before and the outcome was, in general men think abortion is a terrible thing - maybe abortion wouldn't be so common place if women were secure in the knowledge that the man that got them pregnant was going to stand by them!

Sorry to just pick on you Mr S but your comments actually stuck out the most.

Love / BLACK GUYS POLISH WOMEN [809]

i lived in a black neighbourhood (brixton) and was never harrassed in any way. it`s the way you carry yourself. if you look confident walking down the streets you shouldn`t get attacked but if you look lost and vulnerable, that`s a different story.

Thats a really stupid thing to say, you shooow is a BMW init! It would seem you have picked up some of the attitude! Doesnt matter how tall you walk!

Love / BLACK GUYS POLISH WOMEN [809]

I think in England mixed raced kids are accepted more now than they were 20 years ago and btw it wasnt the white kids at school that gave my school mate hassle it was a couple of black girls! So you see the lesson for today is:

Its not only white people that can be racist!

I personally wouldn't want children that are mixed race, because I would imagine there will be some problems and life is hard enough as it is!

News / Polish - French relations [41]

I think Sarko thinks it's a good time to bring the Brits into the fold....there is not much for them anymore in their "special relationship" with the US...

Now that's funny...We've been in the EU for quite some time now and have good relationships with all the other members (particularly France & Germany)...as for our "special relationship" with US, that's always going to remain, we have a little bit of history with America ;0)

Hi ShelleyS - he's 28 and never had a girlfriend before - it's quite sweet really - cos I wouldn't keep the card either - certainly not in my purse - maybe in a drawer, but I feel so frustrated for her - I just wanna ring him and say 'get on with it' !!!! xx

Like Mr W said, just let nature take it course, I sincerely hope that things work out...but long distant relationships are never that easy, jeeze I couldn't even manage Manchester to London ROLF!

Travel / Tips for travel with 1 year old needed [17]

They should stick all the kids at the front of the plane...away those of us who want a quite peaceful flight!..(dose the brat up with Calpol before you get on the flight I hear that works).I had a head ache for two days when I arrived in Barcelona because of some fooking kid screaming all the way there - and not just screaming it was knelt up on the seat infront so it could actually scream in my face!!!!!!!!!!! & Im not even going to mention about the time we got diverted to Brum from Krakow and spent 4 hours on a coach with several smelly screaming kids!

As you can see folkes not only do I think suspected terrorists should be banned from flying i also think that kids should (under the age of 16)

UK, Ireland / Do Polish immigrants wish to stay in UK - long term? [92]

It is mildly comic to see 2nd generation immigrants justify their support forimmigration control though. They often dont include there own family and friends as those that should be restricted.

Not sure I find it mildly comic, more like a damn bloody cheek!

As for the economy, when I walk down the street now I see more and more of those little yellow signs reading money transfers - when I go into a shop, Its not Polish people I see wiring money abroard, it is in general Africans so we could also say that they are not contributing to the economy and sending it all back home...but how true would that be?

Love / My polish girlfriend has changed following death of dad.. [153]

Give her time, people grieve in different ways and it would seem she doesnt want any close contact and you are probably not the only one she is pushing away...

Anger and frustration are part and parcel with greif and maybe she doesnt want to be around you when she's feeling like this....Not everyone wants to be comforted some people find this claustraphobic.

I hope it all works out for you.

True ... but us in the know are keeping quiet about them....

Oh yes and it shall remain that way, its quite funny I spent a few days in Karlovy Vary on my last visit to the Czech and didnt meet one English / Scot or other English speaking person...it was like Heaven..
