Study / University in Poland is too easy [68]

In Italy mostly if u are there, if u aren't...doesn't matter...U will study your 3 books for and if u have done well the exam u pass it...

Same in all mediterranean countries.Better go for coffee instead of attending lectures.

Yes,in countries like UK,USA there is diversity.Very high ranking universities with very difficult exams and selectivity in admission to bottom class universities with very easy exams and no selectivity in admission.

In continental Europe like Germany,Italy etc this does not happen.Every university is considered the same and no matter the value of the degree it is difficult to get it.

In France Grand' Ecoles are very selective and of course the exams there are very difficult.Because if the students are good which is guaranteed by selection, the prof. can raise the difficulty of the exam.If the students have not been selected,he cannot do this, otherwise the percentage of failure will be extraordinarily high.

In greek university there is the same, heavy cramming and cheating. There are students who can memorize books by heart in 20 days.Others rely on cheating because exams are too difficult.

Greeks who get rejected by exams to enter greek university study in England and get high grades.
Greeks who get transfered from UK to greek university have problems passing exams. They get rejected repeatedly since they are not used to this level of difficulty. However greek universities rank low.

Some remarks:
1.University in Italy does not have numerus clausus in admissions unlike Poland,so it is not competitive to enter unlike Poland where there are relatively difficult entrance exams.

2.Unfortunately the difficulty of the exams in university does not reflcet on the value of its degree. For example english universities rank high although their exams are easy.

Why this happens,well...

Life / The people of Poland are wonderful!!! [26]

not having a laugh and making him jump through some hoops or in this case over a fence.

They did it deliberately. They did not open the gate in order not to let the Ukrainians who were standing next in the line to pass.

and invited me to jump over the gate

Why jump over the gate and not try to get in front of those waiting in line?
The guard allowed you to bypass them, not the people waiting in the line.

Life / The people of Poland are wonderful!!! [26]

When one of my newfound "friends" saw me get in this lengthy line, he told me "nie" and escorted me to a Polish guard and told him "Amerikanski". This guard looked at my passport and invited me to jump over the gate

So you are telling that the guards are great because they allowed you to skip the line bypassing the poor Ukrainians?

I saw quite the opposite. The polish guards are strict and take bribes. They considerably delay the traffic between the borders while the ukrainian side lets far more vehicles in in short time. There is no comparison between the time you have to wait when you have to enter the ukrainian side with the time needed to enter the polish side.

The guards in ukrainian side are rather unprofessional, there was a woman with heavy make up,heels and guard suit with short skirt coming to me laughing and asking if I carried narcotics.I think if I bribed here we could go to the toilet together.

to a Polish guard and told him "Amerikanski".

You should try to see what would have happened if he had said ''Ukrainksi'' to the guard.

Love / I like this Polish girl, but she doesn't get my... English sense of humor [124]

I think it lost something in the translation

Yes,for example when you fail an exam in the university because the professor is very strict, the dialogue which can follow between two guys with greek humour is like this:

-Man,I took the exam.
-Really masturbator?Did you pass it?
-Of course.No problem.
-You are big man.Tell me how you did it.
-It was simple.I got in and I told the professor:Either you pass me or I will fek you.
-And?
-He had to give me passing grade otherwise I would fek him.
-You are really great.Man,congratulations.
-Thanks.
-Cool.Go now celebrate.
-Of course.Cool man.

The former dialogue means to both speakers that the student failed miserably in the exams and the rest is just humour.Foreigners cannot understand that when sb says ''I told the prof. either... etc'' it is just inversion. In reality the prof. feked him and he tells the opposite for humour. The other listener understands it and responds accordingly like this actually took place. To other people outside the dialogue seems absurd.

Love / I like this Polish girl, but she doesn't get my... English sense of humor [124]

Examples of greek humour:
This man had really huge balls.I mean he was really brave. His balls were so big that they touched the ground when he was walking.

Or:Did you see this girl?Man she had so big boobs. We were talking in the cafe and her boobs reached the nearby blocks of flats.

Polish humour-speaking one's thoughts loudly.
British humour-nuances for social balance
German humour-sadism
French humour-absurd
Russian humour-grotesque,craziness
Czech humour-terror in everyday situations
Italian humour-situational
American humour-slapstick comedy
Balkan humour-machism

In my opinion all kinds of humour are perceived the way they appear outside culture. So polish humour will seem annoying because it is expressing one's thoughts loudly, german humour will seem pure sadism because it comes from torturing sb,italian humour will seem dumb as it is situational, american will seem superficial and grob as it is in slapstick, balkan will seem perv, sexist, russian will seem as exaggeration, french will seem absurd etc.
