Life / Halloween in Poland? [77]

As for respect This can be only dealt with over many pages of documentation as to the reult of this answer.

Might i make a suggestion, that the respect given is symbolic, so you do not need documentation, to make a symbolic gesture.
I think you know what I mean.

I don't know you Wroclaw Boy but please don't talk ****.

Just to tell you, you are talking to two different people, Wroclaw and Wroclaw Boy, i do not think they are related ??? :)
look at the picture avatar thingy.

You have ruined your environemnet by refuting a green belt policy and building wherever you want and yet you talk about houses "coming down".

I believe you have misunderstood BIG TIME.

Life / Halloween in Poland? [77]

No of course not, i love the fact that in Poland you respect your ancestry and in Ireland as America the true meaning of Halloween has disappeared in myth.

I personally do not think death is always such a negative thing and paying your respects is honourable.
But this is not a competition, just two different cultures, that is all :)

Life / Halloween in Poland? [77]

We both know that it is celebrated in England,

I did not know, is that what you call guy folks?

That happens here at the end of November, St Andrews Day.

I am not aware of such a day.

Life / Halloween in Poland? [77]

, what I believe is essentially, an Irish tradition.

Do you not celebrate it in England?

I was just talking about how we used to play different games, bob for apples and murder in the dark. It is great for kids.

They are on two different days anyway.
And I do not think Poland will be celebrating it and i don't think all saints day will be popular among the Irish (curious yes but not tradition)

I just went down the shop and bought the shop assistants sweeties and explained why.
Do you think I converted them? :)

actually no.... and it's been proven... ;)

well there is a wood, ok so it is one tree maybe they couldn't find the wood?
Proves nothing :p

Life / Street racing in Poland [15]

There are plenty of places , and clubs to do this properly....

In Dublin there were loads of joy riders.
One program, that looked like it worked well was giving these guys a place to do stock car racing and other forms of racing.
Boys will be boys, so maybe Poland could use this talent?.
Stock car racing is very cheap to do and I would pay to see a load of maluks crashing into each other ha ha ha,

UK, Ireland / Poles Flee Ailing Irish Economy [18]

I dont think it is overestimating the problems we are facing

I was afraid you would say that....

I think the 80s are a best case scenario.

we're back to the 1950s! They account for 92% of the Irish economy!

Do you think Ireland will manage to keep the multi-nationals?
Wages are high there but the tax is still low, for now.

the property monster which lies at the heart of everything.

This is it, what kind of bull economy relies so much on property?, it was/is shocking.
I could not agree with you more.
A lot of young people I know in Dublin were simply priced out of the place.

I think the Poles see Irish as having become a bit lazy over the past few years, especially younger Irish

I also see how the Irish have become fat and lazy, it is physically visible.
People throwing away whole Kitchens because they did not like the colour, not being able to give away perfectly good dark mahogany wooden furniture to the charity shop because dark wood was not in fashion.

I have not lived in Ireland for 6 years and I have not lived in Dublin for 10 years and each time I go back for a visit, I am shocked.

It is a completely different country, I got a copy of "The commitments" last time :)
I can't help but think we got too rich too quick, the money was there but not the mentality?
I love Ireland and hope she gets her act together.

UK, Ireland / Poles Flee Ailing Irish Economy [18]

I don't see Ireland going backwards - maybe it will stand still like everyone else, there has been too much progress.

I hope so, the DOOM and GLOOM I get from home is shocking, maybe the people I know are just drama queens;)
It is impossible for it to go back to the 80's, it has gone too far, I hope we are right.

Ireland's soaring out of control could not have continued, I am surprised it lasted this long.

UK, Ireland / Poles Flee Ailing Irish Economy [18]

Deise 07

Thanks for that.

I get a lot of the "Ireland seems to be heading straight back to the 1980s..." when i talk to people in Ireland.

I bought "The commitments" last time I was there and there is NO way it will return to that. Isn't all the boom and gloom talk is just furthering the already dismal state of affairs?.

It seems though, that Ireland's and Poland's paths have crossed and enjoyed each other's company, a relationship that looks set to last.

I was/am always asking how people feel at home towards the Poles because I have been received so well here. And that article seems almost sentimental about the Poles in Ireland.

The crisis starts to hit Poland as well. People slowly are losing their jobs.

Where are you?

Real Estate / Is it now the time to buy a flat in Warsaw? [10]

I was toying with the idea of selling the first one (while still offplan)

Can you sell it before your name enters the deeds?
I have not come across that here.
Usually you have to wait until you have full possession and then you can sell it.
But there are many was of structuring contracts, I am just curious.

Travel / Skiing - Slovakia or Poland? [12]

Here we are,
I have been finding my skiing legs last winter, after not having skiied for a few years.
I went to URL, if you go to camera you can see the conditions, so no surprises.
And in białka there are about 15 different slopes maybe more and they have modernised. I go there to avoid the crowds of Zakopane.

Anyone know where the longest slope is in Slovakia (with a lift)?

I don't know, which is the longest ski slope in Slovakia (with lifts)?
I would like to spend a long time coming down.
I have not been skiing in Slovakia before, only here, Zakopane and Norway.

For a half decent resort id reccomend the Czech Republic,

I would like to Czech that out!

I am also going to go to Slovakia for skiing, it is cheaper i think? and they have 80% of the mountains.

When's the best time to see Wroclaw?

If you've bought in a good location and development then prices should hold well.

Agreed

Yes, but have you been Wroclawified?

I have not seen Wroclaw yet.
I probably should, just to see, is it German architecture like Poznan?
Does it have mountains I can go snowboarding?

In terms of new infrastructure Wroclaw receives the lions share.

Yeah I hear great things about the major.
