Travel / Polish Zoos and their animals [27]

Anyways... so what did they do with this tiger finally?

They shot her. Her name was Tatiana, she was a 4 year old siberian tiger. She jumped over a 20 foot high wall and a 15 foot wide moat. The year before she chewed a part off the zookeeper's arm. So she already had a taste of human blood and was probably pissed she had to sit in a cage with some people laughing at her and teasing her.

Did you find the monkey whose picture I posted

Yes, I've seen this proboscis monkey (nosacz in Polish). He was staring at me too.

Love / Proposing to my Polish girlfriend [33]

Shop around, there are many jewelry stores in Poland, because the design of a ring is more important than the price.

Life / Pre Paid Visa cards [27]

So in Poland you also can't get a credit card without a credit history?
Funny, because I overheard some Poles in the US laughing at Americans that if you have no credit history you can't get a credit card, and how can you get credit history if you can't get a credit card? So it's the same in Poland after all.

If you know someone in Poland, you cold co-sign on a credit card or get a card from your own country, which are accepted in Poland.

San Diego Zoo

That place is so huge!!! I've been to Brookfield, Milwaukee, Texas, Florida, Denver (which is a newer, modern type zoo), all the midwest zoos and many, many others but San Diego is still the largest. Last December the white tiger from San Francisco Zoo escaped and killed and attacked some japanese guys who were teasing it. And I was in San Francisco at the time and couldn't go because they closed the zoo.

Wild Animal Park near Escondido

Yes, that is awesome. They also have a baloon ride and you can see the whole zoo. I liked the baby giraffe the most. South Dakota has a drive thru Wild Bear park I went to again this year, with bears walking all over the street in front of your car, the way it used to be in Yellowstone Park years ago, untill there were too many bear attacts because people were feeding the bears and the bears would also go through their garbage. Now the bears are being tranquilized and flewn over to territories far from campsites.

When I had a chance to visit the Warsaw Zoo a few years ago, it was closed for renovation. That's too bad they had to close the whole zoo and lose money, they could have parts of exhibits open.

I liked the London Zoo, they had a Minah Bird who would be talking to people and just a nice, pleasant zoo.
I'm a Zoo-a-holic :)

I heard Warsaw Zoo is in need of new enclosures. Was there once as a kid when visiting Poland. Seamed a little grey and dirty and it smelled bad.

Law / The new Law in acquisation of Polish citizenship in 2009 [15]

Oh no! How will Americans now get their Polish citizenship if they don't speak Polish fluently? Poland is discriminating against Americans! They treat Americans like second class citizens, like beggers, like they are worse than Polish citizens!

News / Poland Rejects US Missile Shield (talks will continue...) [80]

We freak out because you treat us like a beggar without dignity and guess what? We have some.

Typical Polish belief. Just because you need a visa you feel like a begger. There were visas to Poland, did we feel like beggers? We could care less, big deal. Why do the Poles feel like they have to be bigger and better than everyone else? Why you trying to come here anyway? And once you're here, all you care about is how much money you make. That's what America is to Poland, MONEY. We live here, we pay taxes, we are poor, homeless like everywhere else in the world, but that is overshadowed by the image America portrays as being rich and Poles see that image and it transforms into MONEY!!!! You come here and don't obey the rules, (you make your own rules) and cheat and lie just to get ahead. Poles give a bad image in America by walking around drunk, stealing and lying and act like they are better because they came to America.

And the INS does have information on the illegals, except they hide all over Chicago and can't find them.
Look what's happening in England? They can't stand you there

Food / Is it just me, or is the Polish diet rather unhealthy? [119]

When the chinese come to Poland, there won't be any roaming dogs on street and Poles should keep a better eye on their pets. Maybe if they learn how to clean up after them, the chinese won't follow them home by their scent?

News / Poland Rejects US Missile Shield (talks will continue...) [80]

First Poles were complaining they don't want a missile built, acting tough, but now when it's not going up, they freak out claiming the US won't protect them from Russia.

Whatever we do will never satisfy Poles. They always have to complain about something and they are always right.
America should never abolish visas to the US.

Food / Is it just me, or is the Polish diet rather unhealthy? [119]

Polish food has more cholesterol. Szmalec and bacon grease, kielbasa, pierogi with meat, salceson, jellied pigs feet etc. Poles eat a lot of meat. Poland also has an obesity epidemic but America has more people and you see more of them. Plus it's not the food that makes them fat but the exercise, happens when people drive around in cars instead of walking, anywhere you live. That's why there are many more fat Poles now than ever.

Food / Recipe for Polish potato noodle stew/soup/meatball [11]

The actual dumplings using only raw grated potatoes sound like pyzy,

Yes, the one made with raw potatoes are called pyzy or kluski śląskie.

Related:

Meatball and potato soup

I am looking for a polish soup with potatoes and meatballs. The meatballs had an unusual take, maybe majoram. My mother called it 'Fass' or 'Kfass'. Do not know the polish spelling. It had a sweet/sour taste.

Not sure. But Poles usually eat potatoes and meatballs as a second dish (not a soup). But let a female gives her opinion :) .

Meatballs are good. The more balls, the better they are.
That sounds like "żurek" which is also called "kwas" because it's made of a soured wheat base. You can make it with meatballs or kiełbasa.

And majoran is a basic seasoning for this.

Life / Most overpriced things in Poland? [72]

and people make a couple times less than in the states.

Not everyone in America makes a couple times more than in Poland.
In America the mortgage payments, car payments, taxes, school, medical bills, groceries etc are very high and people have their homes forclosed because they can't afford their house payment and taxes. In America people have to drive long distances to work, many urban areas don't have public transportation like in Poland. In America you need a car to survive, it's a necessity that every 16 year old has to have. Cars in Europe can also run on alternate fluids, people don't need to drive 60 miles to work, they can just take the bus and if they do drive it's not that long of a distance. In America every penny counts, we are not so rich like other countries imagine we are. How many people live in mobile homes just to have a place over their roof? And still they have a hard time paying their rent fee, some people live on a fixed income so every time the price of gas goes up, it puts a strain on other bills.

And don't tell me that people in Poland don't complain when gas goes up too.
